Buffalo is a GREAT choice for protein. Not many ppl use it because of economics. If you can afford it I would definantly add it to the menu....

I was apprehensive to try it since I didn't grow up eating it, but it's really good. I agree that the prices are a little high, but you get a lot of bang for your buck. I think Tammy posted a link in the "muscle meals" section a few weeks back about a cheap place to order bison from online.

For me it was kinda like 96/4 ground beef with some kind of seasoning. I can't explain. But it was good

Yeah... I can't either. It's like a different kind of beef almost. Hard to explain... I didn't think it tasted "seasoned" per se... but beef-ish along the lines of cow, lol.

Cow and buffalo aren't THAT far apart in genetics, are they? :)

For some reason my stomach and digestive system does not like ground beef. I can handle steak ok, still gets me gassy though :-) But Buffalo I've never had a problem with. I think its better for you since the Buffalo are grass fed which means more CLA in the meat. Plus it has more protein per ounce and less sat fat than beef. Can't beat that..I guess you get what you pay for. I get it for 4.99lb.

I never had buffalo until a year or so ago. Randy had me put it in my diet and I love it. I usually do ground buffalo but buffalo steaks area really good as well. Statistic wise its amazing and it's lower in cholesterol then ground beef so if high cholesterol runs in your family its worth looking into. I've heard people insist its expensive, but compared to lean ground beef the price isnt THAT much different.....personally, I think it's richer in taste as well. It's amazing with brown rice.

Ate alot of this whilst working in india for a year, thought it was OK but used to fantasize abotu a 'Real' steak!!! Now Im thinking about paying out allot more for this over beef!!

Tastes ok, can be a little dry, less taste due to less fat

Bison steaks are incredible. Randy makes them for me offseason marinated done medium with onion rings:) yummy. If I get one on my diet it's plain but with green beans- STILL yummy!

Here's a canadian Bison Ranch near Montreal Quebec - the animals lives naturally they are aged and not fatten like those commercial farms - before they are ready for slaughter. But very pricy..

Not imo. And I like it RARE. Since it's so lean, if you cook it too much, it gets tough. Bison is not for people who like well done steak.

For those of you that enjoy buffalo there was an article in muscular development where Branch Warren said he paid a fee and was allowed to hunt buffalo for the day. He said he killed one of them and left with 900 pounds of meat that is now in his freezer. Holy shit im going buffalo hunting. Haha.
