On this day 65 years ago, one of the most massive military undertakings of all time was implemented and one of the most momentous battles in the history of warfare was fought on the shores of France. Over 160,000 Allied troops traveling in over 5,000 ships landed at five strategic points along the Normandy coast, making D-Day the largest amphibious invasion of all time. This battle marked the beginning of the end of the Nazi regime in Europe. I encourage you all to take some time today to remember those brave souls that stormed the beaches that day, and especially those who paid the ultimate price in the name of freedom.
