I can't stand listening to music when I train. I don't know why it just gets in the way.
Nothing cliche like, it's just me and the iron or any other stupid crap like that. I just can't concentrate with music in my Mp3 player or anything. Some music in the background is ok but I'm just as comfortable with dead quiet.

I've got a bunch of trance that is mixed in w/ all my fav heavy metal from 10-15 years ago - Metallica, old KISS, Accept, Zombie, Priest, a little Ozzy, Kid Rock.
I've been out of the gym for a week on vacation in the north woods and I've had Accept running thru my mind the whole time. I'm SOOO excited to get back in the gym & pound out some reps to BALLS TO THE WALL!

It may sound weird but I like listening to WWE or TNA entrance themes. They have a lot of famous bands doing their music, for example Motörhead, Limp Bizkit, Drowning Pool or Kid Rock. Sometimes good and aggressive music really gets you going after an exhausting day at work or when you have taken a beating in the ring the day before.

Nice to see lots of (kinda)Metal bands listed on here.
Im a long time listener of Metal-trying to get away fom it now...
Funny to see Metal heads arguing on the board, they always argue on message boards.
K,bands.
Burnt by the Sun,Municipal Waste,Hatebreed would be good,Absu,Blasphemy(These dudes are all HUGE).
New age R&B with a beautiful girl singing can be good.
Agalloch is an AMAZING (mellow)Metal band from Oregon, maybe not lifting music but a definite must listen to for anyone who likes METAL.

Metal Music for lifting, any of these bands work...especially for getting amped for the heavy training-
Lamb of God, Chimaira, Behemoth (especially their newest album), Death, Necrophagist, Cannibal Corpse, Marilyn Manson, Black Label Society, Pantera, Shadows Fall, Mushroomhead, Slipknot, Judas Priest, Hatebreed, Nile, All That Remains, Amon Amarth, Annihilator, Anorexia Nervosa, Arch Enemy, Anthrax, At the Gates, Children Of Bodom, Cradle Of Filth, Creed, Cryptopsy, Death Angel, Dethklok, Dimmu Borgir, Dirge Within, Disturbed, Dying Fetus, Fear Factory, God Forbid, Job For A Cowboy, Kalmah, Manowar, Machinehead, Mastodon, Meshuggah, Metal Church, Metallica (obviously), Ministry, Morbid Angel, Ozzy,Rammstein, Roadrunner United, Silent Civilian, Slayer, Sodom, Soilwork, Suffocation, 3inches of blood,Trivium, Venom,Wasp, Whitechapel,
that should be more than enough to get everyone started
James Tucci

bump, everyone needs a little inspirations
I think it depends on the session.
For cardio, I like something that is upbeat but consistent, usually whatever's TOP 40.
For lifting, I'm a Rocky Soundtrack all the way.
Death Metal/ Hardcore.. Nothing better then someone screaming in your ear while you train.. Someone said Black Dahlia Murder, Im lovin the new album. I like a lot of old swedish melodic death metal too like the Huanted, The Forsaken, and At The Gates. Some newer good heavy bands: Suicide Silence, Between The Buried and Me, The Faceless, Winds of Plague, Born of Osiris, All Shall Perish. Something a little lighter but fast and technical: Protest The Hero.
