I used to lift a few years ago. Height 6'1", weight approx. 200lbs. Unfortunately, I fell off the wagon and am now around 310lbs. My question is do I consume enough protein for what my weight should be (200lbs) or for what I currently am?
Ultimately you'd want it down to 200g but your better off tapering it down and manipulating your fats and carbs.

Preferably 1.5 x Bodyweight. Protein levels are even more important when dieting.

Fat doesn't need protein.. it should be about a gram to a gram and a half per pound of lean mass. I'd say you would be fine at 200-250grams of protein.

Yes. Sorry, I was meaning lean mass rather than bodyweight. I like higher protein, especially when taking a lot of exogenous hormones. Natty guys don't need nearly so much since they can't utilize it.

keep quality protein to 1.5g per Body weight. I agree with m4. Protein intake while dieting is extremely important as you lack everything else. you're body will need whatever fuel it can for recovery while dieting back down.
