How thick is the axle? And what is her bodyweight?

it is 2 inches thick and it doesnt rotate like an oly bar.
i am guessing she is a heavy in strongwoman which should be over 140lbs.

Very cool. I could see how not rotating would make lifting the axle alot more difficult.

More like a superheavy lol

That continental clean makes my jaw drop every time. That has got to hurt.

Very cool video! we need more girls who are not afraid to get under some real weight!

Damn. Your women are just as screwed as our heavy female weighlifters.

Superheavyweight female lifters are 75+kg. Which means that girls weighing 165lb compete against girls weighing 365lb. We use to have an 83.5kg class that they got rid of. Talk about unfair playing fields.

yeah its why i dropped to lightweight myself...i was tired of being 250 and competing against the guys 300+

Did that hurt your strength at all?

When is weigh in for strongman 24 hrs before?

usually there are early weigh ins...

we do have weight classes. depends on the contest level and how much the promoter wants to invest.

under 175, 176-200, 210-231, 232-265, 266-300, 300+

robert da strongman
06-20-2009, 03:40 PM

no and i did keto too!
i just had to learn how to refeed after weigh ins
currently holding at 234. next comp in september

lilfella

What is the refeed strategy?

Is that even possible? preserving strength on a keto diet? Are we talking no refreed until weigh ins kinda keto or refeed once a week keto?

Don't you think that having only 2 classes screws over the majority of the competitors? You want to be closest to the top of the class so you have 2 areas which to try to make and if you fall somewhere in between you're fucked.

well i will answer both...
i did keto to drop the weight. lost 20lbs over 12 weeks. i kept the strength and was getting stronger. usually on sundays i would refeed for the week. anything went for me. also during the week i kept the fats high, like the metabolic diet. before lifting i would add 40-60g carbs and that would be it for the day.

the week before the comp i was feeling my weakest...i weighed in on friday morning. loaded carbs and rehydrated myself all day and night.

well i did post our weight classes, so there are options. just depends on the level of competition.
also there are only the 2 divisions in the pro ranks

Yeah I just saw that and there is no edit button so once it's posted thats it, lol.

I saw the classes which are reasonable considering that allows people to have the ability to be competitive.

Is that your carbohydrate balance? I did not think it was possible to get into ketosis with anything over 20g of carbs a day. Sounds like a low carb diet. Maybe a rotation with 5 or 6 low days and one high day as a refeed?

well i only take in the carbs on gym days and then none after that.
my cardio days had no extra carbs at all.

everyone is different.

How many gym days are we talking about? 3 I'm guessing for strongman training? Have you ever tried those ketone strips to see exactly how much of those carbs your body has been shuttling? maybe even run some metformin on those days to help with that...I know I've been able to get my body into ketosis within 24 hours but it takes lots of cardio and a serious calorie deficit, especially after a high carb day. Very tricky.

4 gym days
other 3 were cardio...low intensity 60 minutes

was thinking of the strips. but the dead giveaway was the sweet taste in my mouth.

So you are saying that you can consume that amount of carbs 4 days a week besides your refeed and still manage to get into ketosis?

not anywhere near what other sports have but there is money and oppurtunity in the pros. a good am promoter can put on a great comp too.
