Welcome to my Prep Journal for the 2010 BC Bodybuilding Championships!

June 6th/09 I competed in my first show, The Northern Classic in Fort St. John BC. I won the Men's Lightweight class, but obviously did not win the Overall, but it was a pleasure being a part of it!

I started getting ready for the NC June 22nd/08. I have a few years of training experience under my belt as I was a yo-yo. I would train, get big, stop training, get small, train again, get big again, stop training and lose everything once again. I started training in Dec/07 and have not stopped since, but June of 08 is when I got serious with a goal in mind. Now, I have another goal.

I want to compete at Lightweight again and win a Provincial level show.

I am 5'7"ish, almost 5'8". I started training at a BW of 172 pounds in June/08, got as heavy as 210, and started my contest prep at 195ish in Feb/09. Lightweight is 154 and under, I offically weighed in June 5th at 151.8, clothed! I was under 150 on stage Saturday morning. I miscalculated how much water I would drop when I restricted it, but never completly stopped my intake. This is why I am now in the process of hiring Layne Norton for my offseason and contest prep coach.

I did use a Keto diet to lose the 45 pounds I needed to to compete. I do not think I will do it again as I think my legs and overall size was sacraficed. You can tell by looking at the pics....

The 2010 BC Championships is in July in Vancouver. I have a whole year to improve my leg mass and detail, my middle and lower back detail, bigger triceps, capped shoulders and better conditioning. I can't wait to get back in the gym Monday! I took the week after the show off and right now, I feel great! I have gained 10-15 pounds since last weekend!

I do keep a training journal at MD as well. I want to post here as I have always been fans of Dave and John's and I think this is a great BBing site!

I start my offseason Monday, LEG DAY BABY! 275 lbs squats! Can't wait! :)

The first 2 pics are me at 172, when I started training again.

The next 3 are me when I was over 200 pounds in Dec.08.

The next 3 are me, 2 weeks out from my first show.

The last 2 are pics of the Nightshow, June 6th/09

I am chilling out at home watching game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals, it's 2-0 Pittsburgh, I hope they win. I just smoked a J and I am enjoying the Yukon sun. We have 20 hours of daylight right now, it's amazing.

I cannot believe that this time last weekend I was in a competitors meeting weighing-in. The Head Judge kinda looked at me funny when the scale said 151.8 and all I did was take off my sandals. I did not have to reveal my phyisque before being backstage, either did Steve. Steve is my training partner and the only reason I did the show in the first place. Now, he is a bodybuilder! I will post a pic of him in the next post. He weighed in at 163, clothed, again he choose to reveal nothing. He competed at Middleweight, 155-176, everyone weighed more than him and were taller, Steve is 5'5". He came third and won all the back poses IMO.

I decided to start this thread off with reminders of June 6th, 2009. These pics are from Prejudging.

All the work I put in from today till the end of July 2010 will be for one day.

And, what a day that will be!

Your legs need to come way up. Whatever it is you have done to this point has not worked. Not trying to be a dick , just sayin' . Your ehight is perfect for a thick lower body. Glad you enjoyed the experience and best of luck next time around.

I agree, my legs do need to be improved upon.

I appreciate your honesty.

I have the next 13 months to make sure I bring a better to physique to the stage. It was my first show, hindsight is 20/20. :)

Hey man good luck. Im from BC as well, pretty difficult to find shows to do here. Im tossing around doing the Western Canadians next year in Kelowna but theres not many options for tested shows.
You got some competition in my my boy Chris though. I'm not sure if he;s doing the bc championships yet, but he won his class(lightweight) and 3rd overall this yr in the western cdn's, and he won his wieght class and overall at the ivankar cup in bc the year before. The guy is a beast, especially for a nattie. Anyways good luck! I'll be watchin.

Kelowna is the only tested show in Western Canada.

I will be ready for whatever comes my way 13 months from now. Most say I will never compete at Lighweight again because of my build. I had to drop a lot of weight to make 154 and under.

I will be a much better bodybuilder next year. :)

I do not come over here too often anymore...

I have been as high as 218 in September and I am now at 194 when I wake. I dropped lots of water and body fat in the last 6ish weeks. I have adjusted my diet from "eating anything" to being stricter and it has made a big difference. My waist has come down 2-3 inches in the last 6 weeks!

I hired a prep coach for my show in July. I think we will start working together when the new year comes! I am excited that things are coming together for me! I think I will come in around 176, middleweights!

Here are some more recent training vids. :)

1. I will never be a Lightweight again! I will never be able to get down that low, I am 194 today, that is 40 pounds from the 154lbs lightweight class!

2. I would have loved to have worked with Layne, but for reasons not discussed I cannot. I have an agreement with another person and I will be hiring them soon. But, I will not disclose who it is until I pay the fee out of respect for the process.

I did use a Keto diet to lose the 45 pounds I needed to to compete. I do not think I will do it again as I think my legs and overall size was sacraficed. You can tell by looking at the pics....

I will not be using a keto influenced diet again.

I am now a Forum Leader at MD in the Training Journal section. I love the responsibilty and the people in that section! But, that is also why I do not get over here too often anymore.

Nice log.
Good luck with your goals. It's very hard to diet for a bodybuilding show even when you start off lean. You are in for some very hard times before you get into shape but if the attitude that you display in this thread carries over into real life i am sure you will manage.

Be careful squatting 405lb for "fun" because usually when people do things for fun they don't take it seriously and that weight on a squat could easily cause a hip problem. Look after your self.

Thanks for the concern. :)

Squatting 405 is new and exciting to me. I am barely 200 so to be able to move twice my body weight for reps feels wicked. The mass and strength gains I have made as of late are because of the low rep/heavy weight lifting in compound movements, IMO.

Have to agree with Dawn, was at that show as well, you have made some great gains. Best of luck with your prep. Keep training hard.

Thanks for the kind words. :)

Did you compete or were you just in the audience?

I have vids of the show on my youtube channel, it was a great show.

I hope to come in the top 5 in the middleweight class at Provincials.

I weighed 207 last night and I have to be 176 or under come July 23rd. I am looking forward to the prep!

Do you have to requalify this year for Provincials?

I do not keep a detailed training journal here like I do at MD.

I keep this here just for fun. :)

I have my moments....

Thanks.

I was a 150 pound guy with skinny legs and arms with a gut and a spare tire all through most of my twenties. The fact that I can post pics topless and not be embarrassed is an achievement for me on its own. :)

Last nights training vid below and a few more pics and vids. These pics were taken before I got serious about the lifestyle again. The vid with the Challenger was taken as I was dieting for my show, thus the skininess. ;)

Thanks man.

My legs needed a lot of work and this pic is from Sept/09, I hope to keep blowing them up!

Good luck with the training! :)

What weight class will you be competing in?

I have been following along with the Levrone Report and Kevin asked the viewers to make a short vid as to why you would want to train with him.

This is my vid.

Thanks for your opinion.

Only 6 guys competed last year at BC's in middle and the class winner took the overall. I know the guys who finished 5th-6th and they are decent bodybuilders.

I may come last, but at least I will get up on stage. :)

Why do you keep coming back here?

You are by no means welcomed.

I did not compete at BC's last weekend.

I started my prep for the Sandra Wickham classic today.

I am 200ish pounds and I have never been this lean at this weight before.

Some updated pics.
