Training today, it's broken down into priority for athletic performance. The cool thing is I get more muscular from it too.

Block 1, main lifts block. Movements are supersets followed by corrective actions
RDL 3x10, hip t-rotation
70* alt incline press 3x10, windmill x5 each

Block 2, core stability and spine mobilty block
Push-up bridge w/arm lifts 5+5, 90/90 t-spine rotation x 5 each side

Block 3, accessory lifts support main lifts done as gaint sets
Lateral raise 2x12
Leg curl 2x12
Triceps pushdown 2x12
TRX flyes 2x12

ESD
4 min green zone, 1 minute yellow x 3 rounds

I've been playing with diet all week and sliding into it gradually. I'm noticing improvements already.

Well Day 1 is starting off badly. My daughter was admitted into the hospital last night with probable pneumonia BUT she's already getting better. The MD's are starting to suspect she has reactive airway disorder and we're hoping she and Mom will come home today. The wife and I are wiped out from not sleeping but I'm still shooting to hit the gym if she comes home. I'm off today, thank you Lord!, so able to prepare my meals since I'm pulling daddy duty for the other 4 rugrats (not much else to do when bed ridden after surgeries).

Depending on how today goes I'll be posting my new before pics and training session later. My diet is 28% Protein and 36% Fats/Carbs each for now. My body is very protein efficient and the IBS wreaks havoc without enough fiber and digestive time between meals. I get 6 per day all close to 460 Cals each.

Provided today pans out it's Upper Pull, Lower Push and Red Zone ESD, Tabata type cardio. Two things I forgot to list are an explosive lift preceeds Block 1 for neural activation. The first lift is bilateral and the second lift of Block 1 is always unilateral training. My balance is still progressing so that's partly why the unilateral stuff is going to be so prevalent.

Hope your daughter's health is picking up, bro....Thanks, I really appreciate that. She didn't have pneumonia but RSV so another night in the hospital. Cost me a day at the gym but in the long run won't hurt me. I got to spend some quality time with my other kids and should get to see baby girl tonight.

Now that stuff is passing I'll try to get my pics up this weekend, would probably be weird asking my brother in law to take them. My diet will be tweeked here and there for better fat loss. I want to let it do it's thing first couple of weeks though.

My HRT will be dosed slightly higher than normal at 400mgs weekly. My normal 300mg dose keeps me in range so I tend to burn through test more than others but I don't generally use my hCG. I knocked my wife up twice after using it for a month or two.

My training schedule will stay the same the next 6 weeks but weights will go up. I'm not long out of rehab so easing back into it overall. I'll post each session to document changes within it. Gonna have to break out the straps, my grip was faining towards the end of my RDL sets. Weird because it wasn't really heavy.

Sounds good, bro. Especially the part about your daughter... RSV isn't great but at least it's not pneumonia. She's in the best place though.

The family is back at the house, daughter is doing great. I sat down and watched Pumping Iron this evening while she ran around hyped up on albuterol. It gave her crazy eyes too, she looks like a meth head.

The movie gave me some motivation and I prefer the classic 70's physique for myself. It seems to be more athletic all around then todays giants but no disrespect there. I've been able to stick to my eating plan fairly well all things considered. I've noticed I've been really hungry since starting the clean eating last week. I'm craving clean foods and thinking the challenge is doing some subconscious voodoo on me. I also dropped about 5lbs of water too, weird.

I should be able to get my front/rear pics up tomorrow. I also decided to up the dose a little, found a vial of test so there's no time like the present. I don't plan on going below 600mgs the entire challenge. Hoping this will be more of a recomp then a true cut. My personal goal is to hit a legit single digit BF% as I have never been that lean, even as a child. I was always husky but swam competively for 10 yrs and reaped the benefit of rib cage and clavicle expansion from it. Might try bringing the vacuum pose back into vogue.

If the camera adds 10lbs I must have 3 taking my picture. Damn, serious room for improvement. I lost 1.5" of abdominal circumference this week, I attribute this to the drop in water. IBS makes my guts bloat and swell if I eat something that kicks it off, the trigger foods change but gluten is fairly consistent.

The back is relaxed too, I'll get one of me flexing them.

Diet for me is the hardest part, since I didn't get to train for a few days I lightened up the protein a little. I also slacked a little bit since it's the weekend and had a couple of beers while grilling my beef ribs. I can't remember the last time I had a beer. No training today but really looking forward to tomorrow.

Meal 1: Waffles and almond butter
Meal 2: Shake based on meal plan
Meal 3: Baked chicken
Meal 4: 1/2 Turkey sandwich with avacado
Meal 5: 3 Beef ribs and big spinach salad

I have fasted blood work today so I'll hit the gym in early afternoon. Today is upper push and lower pull. I'll line out my training afterwards. I'm down to 229lbs this morning, might need to take advantage of a complete carb load day instead of two cheat meals weekly. I look OK but will better be able to judge it while lifting, if strength is down too much will add more food. Another one of my goals is to focus on conditioning. My VO2 max was 31 on a bike, which is average but I was trained for it. I have 3 week ESD plan that I will rotate and build upon.

No training today although I would have prefered to do some yellow zone ESD (low intensity cardio) but decided to get rid of this cold first. Tonight was my mid week high carb meal so spaghetti with the family. The wife makes some killer sauce, surprising because she's black and can't cook anything else. Tomorrow is another training day so I'll post once completed. I got my BF% tested today, not encouraging but I have to start somewhere and I dropped another 1/2" in waist circumference. I'd love to finish this about 8-9% BF and around 230lbs but we'll see. Actually just having ripped abs for once would be cool.

Rad will be strutting like a sex pot! Pretty accurate. My wife says I was a manwhore before her and we have 5 kids and one on the way so...

I had a 24hr shift so updating yesterday's training. Diet was the same, I eat the same meal 4 times a day. Breakfast and dinner are the only changes. Today will be my break from it though, need to refill the glycogen stores. I'm holding similar weight this week but my strength has skyrocketed, I'm up 20lbs and more reps on some exercises.

It was my boss, don't want to make it weird. We have a gym at work and I was training without a shirt.

Thanks, it's the same one as earlier. I plan to only do the pics every 3 weeks as asked since I have never dieted down and will need the time between them to evaluate my progress, I need to see enough difference between the two. For me the scale won't matter in a contest judging apparence.

Sampson is my goofball and extremely athletic even for a Pitbull. He can jump straight up and clears a 6ft fence to peak at the neighbors. It scared the crap out of them when he started.

Today is injection day, Test will be 600 this week with a touch of Deca for the joints and tendons. I'm technically still going through rehab for the Achilles. I'm going to KISS and use test with a little Halovar later on. I might be increasing doses, I've only went above 6-700mgs once or twice so that might be in the cards.

I'm definitely seeing changes in the mirror now. Vascularity is increasing and the guys at work are starting to comment about the changes. A few have said I'm getting bigger but I tell them it's an illusion from leaning out; honestly though, I think I'm getting a little size back. Having once been 265lbs and fairly lean muscle memory could be kicking in. Probably gonna relax the diet a touch early since Saturday is my cheat day but I'm smoked. Well, I decided not to run the Superdrol since I'm dieting and it really works better as a bulker. It really shines with high carbs and I tried once before to diet on it with pretty bummer results.

I saw my surgeon today and with the extreme progress I've made she expects I can return to full physicallity. That was surprising honestly. She still thinks I have tendon disease so when I get enough money I'd love to run 6 months of HGH. Not sure if it will be a possiblity though.

Diet was pretty simple today, dinner was taco salad based around my macros. In person you can really tell a difference but in the pictures, not so much. This is my last week on the Nandrolone, hope my joints and tendons play nice. I will be changing out my lifts this week but will also be deloading. My plan is to cut back the ESD and drop Block 3 completely. Block 1 will be 3 sets only then ramp everything back up. Hopefully 9% will be here in the next 9 weeks.

Trying to decide on changes to my chemical assistance as I have a huge reserve of stuff I need to use. I'm sure it will make a difference in joint comfort but I didn't get the relief I normally do, actually it didn't seem to help much at all. I had an off day so recovery consisted of a session with my Massage Therapist, I had some issues! She found a lot of knotted muscle, my shoulders were especially bad. That might be the reason for all the joint pain. I have a bit of Winny on hand but am not sure I'll ever run it do to the joint and tendon impacts. My estrogen has been somewhat low last couple of tests. I'm using .625mgs of Letro weekly and might just drop it totally since it's seems to crush my E2 levels.

My goal is to get the BF off and get my calf functional again. I was cleared by the surgeon to run and so on but I don't have the strength to push off correctly. I suffered some nerve damage from all the surgery so time is a critical factor.

I also upped my dose to 1,501mgs so as not to be out done. It was a bitch to measure.

On a side note I dropped my BBC 468 rotating assembly off for balancing, should be able to get my 67 Elky cruising by mid summer. It should eventually get a nitrous huffing 1200HP all aluminum 468. That will be getting the rotating assembly balanced within the next few months. Here's a pic of baby brother with a 327 for cruising. I used to hate taking my kids to the dentist, not because they had bad teeth, they all had perfect teeth... but because it's the only way anybody could get me to enter the building! LOL

I'm starting to get wicked pumps from the gym. I was told I looked like an inmate due to all the tats and with a pump I looked pretty sick. I had full striations in my pecs, delts and tris.

Another great day lifting. Whatever I spasmed in my shoulder is finally calming down, seems to have been a rotator cuff muscle. Now for a down day tomorrow, I plan to foam roll at home as I will spend the morning in the hospital with my other daughter. She's getting her tonsils out but it has been a long time coming. Hopefully she'll feel better once she heals from the surgery.

Full Body
Hang Cleans 4x4, dowel dislocations x10

Block 1
Snatch balance 6x3, bottom sq position mobility x10

Block 2
Front SQ 10x4, hip/quad stretch x5
Chins 6x4, heel sitting lat stretch x5

Block 3
TRX Row 10x3
DB Hammer curls 10x3
Med Ball twist 10x3
Eccentric leg curls 10x3
BB curls 10x3

ESD
3 Fartlek rounds, yep I was running. Not very well though, whole body ached from it.

I'm starting to get my functional everything back. My strength is shooting up so I will have to keep my ego in check. No sense in hurting myself again.

Tren or not to tren, that is the question.

I could run that and Winny for the last five weeks but just not sure. I'm thinking being below 9% would be better but it might help get me there faster too.

Oh dang I get the creeps from dentist stuff.... I started grinding my teeth in college from stress and I'd wake up w/ after a nightmare thinking my teeth all fell out, and then waking up in a panic to check that they were still there. Shit... ugh....

Anyway - was interested to learn about ESD - I always like learning about optimized approaches for different pursuits. I also have limitations of a bum shoulder (never torn, but had some arthro surgery in 2008 & then re-jacked it in 2010 lifting too heavy while depleted a week before a show - now just tends to get tired quickly).

I would say while you have the progress going - keep running with it. When the whole thing starts feeling more like habit than anything else, you're there - just a matter of time.

I hope all the teeth stories are done for a while! UGHHH!!!!!

The teeth issues in the house should be over for a while, hopefully. I have managed to crack all by back teeth from grinding and work. I took a shot to the head so hard it knocked out a filling.

I have been making steady and very noticable progress in person. I've always been the big guy but I have no doubt people assume I'm assisted at this point.

The ESD is based around trainng the body to easily transition between energy systems. The goal is performance based but the best effect is the metabolism operating efficiently. Also consider the correctives I list after a press or pull using upper body, they have been life savers for me. The tired too quickly sounds like weak or inactive rotator cuff muscles.

I would love to jump on Tren since I understand the drastic changes it could make. But I feel waiting until I hit my single digit BF goals would be best.

You're a study in patience in the face of temptation!

So question - and I admit I was just perusing what I found when I googled ESD the other day. The context I found around it was PL - but say the context isn't PL? Does it translate? I'm always looking for a framework that satisfies my love of lifting, but I had to let the heavy stuff go between the bum shoulder and goal to downsize for this new Women's Physique category - tried many, many different things (from swimming to crossfit to boxing) to find an alternative and everything either hurts or it just isn't interesting. I've had the best luck finding protocols that still incorporate standard lifting - just different combinations. E.g. Poliquin's German Body Comp and more recently upper & lower body DB complexes. But I also got my ass handed to me w/ the complexes in terms of the cardiovascular demands - which, after years of standard 'per-body part' BB-style llifting, I have shit cardiovascular capability. Finding something somewhere in between would be cool....

Onward & upward!

Sassy, google Athlete's Performance. My training and goals are based on their principles. My job requires certain physical requirements that run the gamut. This Thursday we're testing BB bench for Upper Body pressing power/strength.

Well turns out this is my deload week so yesterday I over did it. I kept weights the same but cut volume by half the reps. The reason for that was to keep the corrective exercises at the same volume since they're non-taxing to the body. I have massage therapy and restoration day tomorrow, should be awesome!

I look forward to further supporting other things in my personal life w/ more training knowledges! (And yes I meant to make that plural...Curt aka Stop! Grammar time! I'm recovery from a ruptured Achilles tendon that required a full replacement. I had to learn to walk unsupported again afterwards so slowly transitioning back into sport performance.

I remember the pic you posted of the difference between your two calves. I think it's awesome how you've managed to rehab that leg to the point you can run on it again. It sounds like a really sick injury you suffered.

It still looks pretty rough and is much smaller. But it is starting to come back. The biggest problem was after the secnd surgery and rupture I suffered nerve damage. When I got out of the first cast my calf came back to full size in 3 days, this time it has been since may last year.

I went to my massage therapist yesterday and she found all kinds of stuff. That spasmed left shoulder was in bad shape, today it hurts but is from the bruising. My left pec was pretty toned up too, took a while to get the knots out. Today is upper body pressing but since it's still my deload I'll be taking it easy and probably doing some activation work for my left rotator cuff muscles. It helps to get them firing correctly after being turned off in therapy.

Thanks man, appreciate that. I'm 37 and a father so I can understand life getting in the way. I was very lucky to fall into the training style I do now. I PL for about 10 years and that combined with work ripped me apart, literally. I was able to attend a very aggresive rehab program for the ruptured Achilles. My time there corrected a lot of my issues and taught me that rarely is a sore joint do to cartilage or bone damage. As jacked up as I had become my issues were alignment and muscular quality. It's been a long year but I feel better than I have in years. You should incorporate the correctives I list after my upper body work, it will work wonders for your shoulders.
