Busy weekend for the strength team at the Arnold:

Fri morning, we will be covering some of the Arnold Am Strongman 60 athletes from 20 countries.

Fri afternoon events 1 and 2 for the Arnold Strongman Classic. Americans Shaw, Poundstone, Burke, Scherr and Pritchett are on to represent the US against the Lithuanians, Poles, Russians, Icelandics and Brit!

Fri evening has Rx Team Strong heading to the movie premiere BOSS, Brothers and Stone and Steel which follows Derek Poundstone and Travis Ortmayer from their 2006 beginnings through 2012 and all it entailed.

Sat morning sees us heading to see Mikey J, my co-host on the Rx Power Hour compete in the XPC 3 meet powerlifting meet.

Sat afternoon event 3 of the ASC on the main expo stage.

Sat afterwards I have arraigned for a meet and greet with a few strongmen to meet with Ronnie Coleman at the RCSS booth. Ronnie needs to see what real size looks like!

Sat evening will have us at the Vet for the finals of strongman. Bill Kazmaier, Mike Jenkins and myself will have unique perspectives on the weekends strongman events.

Sat night/night will have me editing video and not out at the Arnold after party.

Sunday we will be out at the Highland Games Heavy Events outdoors in the rain, sleet and snow. Kilted men throwing big objects! the current and two former world champions will be contesting the 5 events for the amazing bronze Dinnie statue!

Sunday night is time to unwind with a staff dinner and to celebrate SallyAnnes birthday!

Monday.... sleeping in!!!!!!!!!

I really hope Derek wins this.

Good luck to Mikey J. He said he'll be attempting 1000lb squat, so let's hope he can pull it off. That's an insane amount of weight!

If Mikey manages that squat Bryan should interview Mikey on Power Hour... even though he's the host! LOL

I like you. Derek Poundstone and Kevin Nee are the 2 main people who have influenced my decision to strength training. Amazing athletes. They're my heroes! I hope Derek wins as will. I know one thing... No one is beating him in the circus dumbell!!

Derek is THE REASON I follow strongman competitions. He does well promoting the sport.

I would love to see Poundstone win! People have thought for a while that he's in decline now, I want him to kick some ass and prove everybody wrong! That would be pretty damn cool.

Derek will have some tough competition, if he wins he will be regarded as one of the front runners for the rest of the year, and the lead up to WSM.

Update after Day 1.

Mike Burke is ok. His wife Maree said he is having breathing issues today and probably had something to do with him passing out for a brief moment. It was a bit scary as he went down, but the other athletes ran to pick him up, and get him oriented. Mike came back and is just fine.

Derek Poundstone according to Mike Jenkins is unsure what type of bicep injury he has. I will see him alter this evening at his movie premier to get the whole story.

Mark Felix apparently has a bicep injury as well... more to come.

Misha apparently has a bicep injury. He flinched and looked at his arm while attempting to pick the 540lb stone. he later was able to pick it and successfully load it over the bar without incident.

According to sources, everyone will be competing tomorrow. Adam Scherr told me he will lift even if his arm falls off.

Shaw tore his bicep last year... these strongmen guys really put it all on the line when they go to the Arnold!

I went to a movie premiere with Derek and Kristin Poundstone. More on that later, but yes, Derek has a bicep injury... and I am not convinced he will be able to continue. He will see how he feels in the warm up room and go from there. He couldnt even extend his hand out to shake hands.

this pictorial coverage is FANTASTIC guys-as a massive strongman fan as well as bodybuilding fan-THIS IS AMAZINGLY GOOD COVERAGE! THANKS TO ALL AT RXMUSCLE FOR THIS GREAT COVERAGE! (i cant call who i think will win,its too close, although shaw will take some beating, but "LITERALY ANYONE THERE IS WELL CAPABLE OF WINNING",a shame about poundstone's bicep injury though. THANKS AGAIN GUYS.

Totally agree. Terrific coverage!

Thoughts go out to Derek, lets hope he's made a remarkable recovery overnight and is able to continue. It would be very disappointing if he was forced to withdraw.

Starting hummer tire deadlift. Last man standing instead of 3 attempts. Athletes can come in and out as they want. Poundstone is lifting. He tripled 545lbs in the warm up room. He will open in the mid 900lb range. Shaw is fired up and should win this event. Lalus at 5' 10" will be right in the mix as well.

Pritchet opens 829. Burke 861. Thor 895. Burke 2nd lift 930 is good. Pritchett 2nd attempt 949 good. Thor 2nd attempt 961 good. Radz opener 971. Misha opens with 971. Lalus opens 971. Burke 971 last attempt and he missed it. Apparently they changed it back to a 3 lift event...

Mark Felix opens at 1016. Shaw at 1016. Misha at 1016 2nd attempt misses. Misha 3rd attempt at 1016 misses and out. Radz 2nd attempt at 1027. Lalaus 2nd attempt at 1016.

Horrible internet again inside the expo.

Moving to 1062 and the 4th tire is now on.

Poundstone is now officially out. Scberr is now out too.

Laulus skipped 1016. Now 1062 and he smokes his 2nd attempt. Thor 3rd attempt at 1062 misses it. Pritchett 3rd attempt at 1062 nails it. Shaw 2nd attempt at 1073 all day long!

Radz at 1073 3rd attempt and misses it. Mark Felix 3rd at 1084 made it easy... lalus now 3rd at 1117 with ease. Wow. Mark Felix now at 1122 3rd attempt. Absolute ease. Shaw now at 1122 its tight but he gets it. Felix and Shaw tied at 1122.

People will say it's because he's getting older, so hopefully that will motivate him to do big things later in the year, providing the injury isn't too serious of course.

They really should consider lowering the weights a little, it's reached the point where it's tearing the guys up. Lets hope nobody else falls by the wayside and the rest of the athletes can stay healthy.

And it was an incredible day in the freezing cold at the Inaugural Arnold Highland Heavy Games. 2012 World Champion Matt Vincent held off 2011 World Heavy Champion Dave McKim by winning the final event of the day - the 56lb weight over bar, with a 17' toss. His trophy, a stunning 50lb+ bronze and granite statue was absolutely gorgeous.

HRT advocate Dr Bob Goldman was the primary sponsor and was so impressed, he announced on stage he will bring the guys back and sponsor the entire event again next year.

It was 26 degrees when we arrived at 10:30 and by 3:00pm it was 24degrees and with the wind chill, itwas only 9 degrees. Brutal weather with snow blowing the entire time.

listen douchebag, I am busy as fuck running my ass off all weekend covering pro strongman on one side of the arena filled with a quarter million people to the other side cover amateur strongman and then outside to cover olympic lifting and then out across town to cover XPC powerlifting at veterans memorial.... all with absolutely abhorrent internet connections and you are going to bitch because I spelled his name wrong.

go find information about the strongman competitions somewhere else. interviews? not gonna find em. full videos? not gonna find em. perspective from a pro strongman who has been in the game and has the ears of many in the sport? not gonna find it.

excuse my spelling erros in the hustle and bustle of the arnold. i'llc arry my fucking websters with me next time.

There's something kinda hawt about imagining what you looked like writing all this out, getting all huffy and puffy and stuff.

You go big boy!

actually, I was barely awake, chinese eyed from lack of sleep and simply grumpy. I'm home and much much more to come from the Arnold!

Bryan was so busy in the run up to the Arnold that he mentioned he was already exhausted on the Friday, so he must have been dead on his feet by Monday. No wonder he was feeling grumpy! lol

Perfect for WWE... The fact Bryan is 6' tall and looks tiny here shows why he's called Big Country! Good personality too.

A discussion amongst the judges took place after Vytautus Lalas completed his 2nd attempt but dropped the bar to the floor. In years past, you were not allowed to drop the bar due to potential for it to bounce around on stage. Apparently, somewhere and sometime they changed that rule, but no one, except the director Terry Todd knew. Terry Todd gave it the gold standard thumbs up and the lift was good.
