NEW YORK (AP) -- Mark Teixeira (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/mlb/players/6788) has regained the lead over Kevin Youkilis in a back-and-forth race to be elected the starting American League first baseman for the All-Star game.
In results of fan voting released Tuesday, Teixeira is ahead by 35,632 ballots. The Yankees slugger has 1,561,292 votes and Youkilis of the Boston Red Sox (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/mlb/teams/red_sox) has 1,525,660.
Also, Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/mlb/players/5406) (2,563,093) has overtaken Tampa Bay third baseman Evan Longoria (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/mlb/players/7914) (2,488,076) as the top vote-getter.
Other leaders include Texas second baseman Ian Kinsler (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/mlb/players/7490), Minnesota catcher Joe Mauer (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/mlb/players/7062) and outfielders Jason Bay (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/mlb/players/7143) of Boston, Josh Hamilton (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/mlb/players/6679) of Texas and Ichiro Suzuki (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/mlb/players/6615) of Seattle.
