Lets talk about polypharmacy and what a good friend of mine so aptly describes as the anabolic cascade. I give credit to Bjaarki for the basic concept of this thread as it made me think 5-6 years ago when he first posted it and it still makes me stop and think today.

Forgive the generalities...I almost always speak in general terms as each individuals experience is unique and I am looking for us to relate to the general ideas and see how we can help each other.

Most of us with addiction issues have a drive for instant gratification. We want X, Y or Z right now! (Money, sex, power, people, places, things) We are generally very driven people with a high tolerance for "side effects" (side effects being negative re-actions/consequences for our behavior). We struggle to control our passions as we love the effect our actions produce and generally try to deny, ignore or reduce the negative results of that behavior. So, there is a picture of us…set up to love the positive affects of AAS.

So what is polypharmacy and the idea of the anabolic cascade? In the most generic sense, polypharmacy is combining chemicals to enhance positive effects and/or reduce negative side-effects. So- what’s the big deal?

Many of us start with a basic cycle of say 500 mg of test for 8 weeks and then run a basic PCT with clomid and are very happy with the results. We have probably already been using creatine and protein powder and maybe some fish oil. We study up more on AAS, training, eating and sleeping right for better gains (well, at least I hope that is how we do it…study, learn, then apply) But who am I kidding, most of us are lovers of instant gratification, so we dive into the deep end and add in DBol to kick it off, bump up the T to 750, add in 500 deca, glutamine, red yeast rice and an on-cycle aromatase inhibitor to keep water gains in check and run the whole mess for 12 weeks …. We maybe even have to add cialis and/or viagra when we come off cycle when things aren’t up to the task. We are well on our way to the anabolic cascade.

Those of us who have been at this a long time know that genetics, food, training and rest all come before AAS. But when you want instant results and you are messing with your hormones and emotions by cycling on and off, the roller coaster ride can get pretty wild as we love the way we feel and look while on and hate the feelings and way we look when off.

Next thing you know we are starting with DBol, Test, Tren, Deca, adding in a prolactin inhibitor for the tren along with the aromatase inhibitor and finishing out with Test, T3, maybe even DNP, Winny and proviron. This time we added Tylers, greens, CoQ-10 and policosanol to try to try to keep our liver values and cholesterol in check. Welcome to the anabolic cascade….~15 chemicals to get through a cycle.

This does not including PCT, which by now we are trying to avoid by just dropping down to a cruise dose of 500 Test so we can stay somewhat stable hormonally and emotionally until the next cycle. But if we have to come off we are now adding HCG, clomid and an anti-aromatase to keep estrogen in check.

Taking one chemical to counteract the side effects of another chemical which needs another chemical so you can at least have a normal sex life??? Where does it end?

I am simply throwing the idea out there for discussion…

It ends when you say it ends. Personally I dont think anyone who isnt a national or world level competitor should use steroids. Powerlifting wise you should be able to break some records in the tested class and in bodybuilding if you cant win a local NPC show without steroids then you DO NOT have the genetics to go much further and might as well quit using them now. Yet, it's most definately bullshit to say hormones are addictive; I've never heard of someone sucking dick for a bottle of test. However, if one has previous addiction problems isnt fully clean and working a program then they are just substituing one drug for another. So in a sense they are addictive but I would never consider the "Anabolic Cascade" a drug problem.
