Hey ladies...I know lots of us know eachother already from other boards...but i know there are some newbies on here. So introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about yourself. Lurkers...come out:)!

Ill go first...though im sure many of you are familiar with me...

Andrea...from Illinois...why i still live here...who knows...i hate snow and cold. 26 years old. not married...have a boyfriend, but shit, lately...i dont know man...maybe i should start looking again! no kids...and honestly...not a fan of them...maybe one day...who knows. going back to school...sociology. though id rather just start fresh with nutrition. been into fitness my whole life...i say fitness not athletics...never got into organized team sports lol. didnt get serious into weight lifting until i was 19...started competed in figure at 22. crossed over to bb this fall. loved it...not looking back. wont compete again until spring 2010. have some lats to grow and some mass to add to my back this year! ive met many great e-friends over the last year and a half since ive been active on the boards and i look forward to making new ones from this board. currently...im a little too heavy for my offseason...i got about 7-10 pounds to lose. i told myself yesterday was start day...so far..ive been good for two days lol. i cannot have many carbs at all...so start day yesterday meant...gotta stay away from the oatmeal and cereal.

okay...enuf about me. im sure you all know plenty about me already and for those who dont...you will.:)

welcome again to all.

I will go second. I am Lisa Boushard and i live in St Louis MO I am going on 43 and have 3 cats named Shadow, Scratchy and Flex. So not far from Illinois and we get the snow and all four seasons each year. I have lived here my entire life and would move at any given moment to experience life in a different place preferably not north and cold weather lol I have been married 2 and a half years to my hubby Joe. I have been competing in bb since 2001 and have competed in all weight classes offered so far except for heavyweights which i hope to do this year. I have been working with Dave palumbo for the past 2 years and must say I have NEVER looked this good on stage in all the years i have been competing. I trust him and can't wait to see the final package for this year!!! Colette does my routine and music so i am sure it will be off the hook this year again!!! It is great to have a wonderful team and a great website like this one to have all the support and guidance to help us all reach our goals.

your post reminded me...i have 3 cats i am crazy about. but whn i moved out of my ex bf's place a year ago, my new apt doesnt allow pets. so for the time being, he has them. i get visitation rights as often as i want though.
rudy, cleo and sweet pea!

dave has brought u into your shows with out of this world conditioning lisa. i did keto this year when i switched over to bb..i work with pj braun, who is a client of dave's...and i must say..i never looked beter too. keto definitly works with my body.

I'm Rachel, 25 years old and live in Portland, OR. Was a swimmer in highschool, started lifting my senior year. Decided to try figure last year and had a blast! Going to do the OR state and LA Championships this year, see how I do and take it from there.

Work for a software company and LOVE it! Have a boyfriend-no kiddos, I like to be able to just pick up and go whenever I want so no animals either. I read a lot (it's the only thing helping me get through cardio!) and I am just starting to play my violin again.

I'm originally from Tacoma and somehow ended up here but am SERIOUSLY eyeing Cali and FL for a move next year- I enjoy CO but really miss the ocean...

Anyway, I am prepping to make my national debut this year and will compete at the Arnold Amateur and then Jr. Nats.

I've been a pretty studious lurker for sometime on the other sites but am really excited about what Dave and John have done here and plan to really take part.

Hi Malika :)

I am planning on competing for the next two years, and if I don't manage to get my nattie pro card, I am retiring my bikinis.

While I love to compete, I find it has thrown off my previous balance I had with my weight/body fat, how I ate and trained.

I was just diagnosed being hypothyroid, which means I haven't been producing enough thyroxine, making my metabolism quite slow, I lost some of my eyebrows, hearing, some of my hair, and get fat quite easily and have had a hard time (almost impossible), dropping below 16% bodyfat.

I think I have had this condition for close to four years, it was really a bit of luck with lab tests and how I was dieting that had me be diagnosed.

Oh yah, I am a biomedical scientist in clinical biochemistry.

I check my bloods every now and then when I am dieting/changing my diet, dehydrating, etc.

I am now going to be monitoring my hormone/thyroxine replacement therapy.

Thank you for sharing! And re the boyfriend, I saw a tutor at school tonight. She was one in my first group of art students and is a senior this year. She was wearing a t-shirt that said "DUMP HIM!" lol :D Picture of a guy in the back of a dump truck getting unloaded along with a bunch of dirt.

Not advice at all. I just thought it was a funny logo.

sweet! im so excited. its great to feel confident already and not have to stress about doing drastic shit towards the end. im very excited to see your conditioning..you were ripped at NA...so im sure you look amazing.

you never know how you'll do, its not a national show, the judging is a little different plus there are international judges, who prefer a harder physique with more muscle. ...i got 6th which was great for me...then didnt place at any national shows after that lol.

Yeah... I know I'm on the more muscular side for figure but it is what it is. I like to lift so it's not going to change. :) This is the smallest and tightest I've been though. I'm thrilled either way but I'll be excited to see how I do. The field is highly international so I'm hoping I hold up well!

I lost all the weight on my own and competed in my first BB comp in 2002. I briefly switched to figure 2004 and 2006 (out of fear of being too big in offseason if i was BBer) Went back to BBing in 2007 and found my passion for training again.

I fiddle around doing websites (i was a computer programmer from 1999-end of 2001) I did my site which really need to be redone
www.fitsuzanne.com and i did my trainers site www.sizandshapefitness.com.

I train with Jeremy Minihan ( www.sizandshapefitness.com ) who is in Oklahoma City. I have been with him since Nov 2006 and have made profound changes both in my physique and emotionally. I try to train in OKC with him several times a year and when i do I stay with the awesome IFBB Pro Sherry Smith

I have been off season since Nationals 2007 but start prep March 1 for Jr Nationals!!!

Hi Ondrea and thank you for the warm welcome. I would have actually loved to get in contest shape for this gig, but, unfortunately, I did not get that phone call until early January. Within a week I was on a plane to turkey to discuss my contract. I have to go back for a few days in March to shoot the promo before we commence shooting the first season in April. So they have me all over the place which makes it hard to remain consistent with my dieting. Kind of a pain in the ass to travel overseas with Tupperware if you know what I mean. So all in all I have about 8-10 consistent weeks of strict dieting, cardio and training of course. Certainly not enough time to get in contest shape. So I am going to make the best out of the time I do have and am hoping that I can hit 200lb at 10%. Last June I hit 200lb at 12.8% and my offseason went VERY well this winter. I made some great gains in my upper body which should make my goals very attainable if I stay focussed.

I am 190lb at 6% and 5'5". Too bad can't get down to that for this..oh well. I am grateful for any opportunity to get female bodybuilding out to the world, especially in the middle east where we are, let us just say, NOT so popular.

Respect,

SS

I started lifting weights after my boyfriend suggested it when I was trying to lose the "freshman 15" and wanted to slim down and tone up. I've loved it ever since!!! This year I have finally got into a split workout schedule and am really loving it and getting legit results from it.
I worked as a booth model at the Arnold Classic last year for Con-Cret and this year am working under the same guys for a different supplement (NutraCea) and am so super excited to be working it agian! Unfortunately my diet sucks, but it comes with the territory!
My boyfriend is entering his first natural BB comp. in April and I am so excited for him!!
I'd love to try and compete 'bikini' in my lifetime, but I dont think it will ever happen due to the fact that I have a nasty case of Scoliosis!!! :( but oh well I love lifting and staying in shape!
Anyways I think im done gabbing...so HELLO to all and I wish everyone the best with their goals! :)

Respect,

SS

Hello. I'm Lauri, 40yo, from Atlanta. I am an Emergency RN, mother of 12 yr old twin girls, and married to an NPC bodybuilder.
In Dec 2007 I decided that I no longer liked how I looked and started working out ,with my husband, 5 days a week in the gym. After losing 45 lbs (in 5 months) I thought I looked a bit too thin so I started lifting heavier and really started to enjoy it. My husband (tdcoach) has been competing for about a year now and it has piqued my interest in competition bodybuilding. I'm 5'6'', 120lbs, 11% bf so I am looking at competing masters lw in the fall.
I am hoping that I will be able to gain some valuable info from this site to help me achieve my goals. I know it will not happen overnight ,but, there is plenty of inspiration and proven success on here!

Gee, what scares me...probably the fear of the unknown. im such a tomboy that the hair, suit, makeup stuff really scares me becuase i don't know where to start. the only part i have a grasp on is the heels (self proclaimed shoe whore...lol). Think i just need to pick a show, talk to someone local who competes, and get my butt out there...at least once!
then at least i'll know for myself the stage is/isn't my thing...

I have always been fasinated with weight training and the human body...My fiance Chris Genkinger (Chris250) got me in to weight training this past year...He showed me the correct way of dieting and training...We now train together and hope to compete in the same show later this year...I would appreciate any advice I can get from the women who compete in figure and bodybuilding...I have learned alot this past year and half, but I know I have alot more to learn from the girls on Rx Forum...

I put up 3 pictures, the first two pictures are from the Iowa State show in 2008. The last picture is from Halloween, when I took the girls out for trick or treating...

oh my...well shit...at least u are not scared of the stage. darling...its ez...have a someone do ur make up and hair...dont even stress about that. find a suit desiger, give her your measurements and she makes the suit for ya. simpl. u dont have to decorate it yourself or design it. just pick a color and desing. u got the walking in high heels part down...that is usually a very hard part for some woman to grasp.

Hello Ladies, Queens, Divas, Transies, Hermaphrodites and all others who sit on the toilet to pee. This is Carolyn Bryant, aka The Black Iron Princess. I'm here to launch my column called "From a Woman's Point of View." The column is edgy, entertaining, juicy, controversial and down-right hilarious. It's all about girl talk and telling our side of what's going on in the industry. Some of you may already be familiar with my stance in the female bodybuilding world. I do not promote androgyny in this sport. Nuff said. Got something to say? Free your mind.

Here are the rules. I won't say let's keep it clean because the dirtier the better. Refrain from being messy, belligerent or using terms that could be misconstrued as fighting words. Keeps your emotions in check and let's have fun. Remember these are just opinions. If you heard something please preface the discussion with "rumor has it." If you know something for a fact and want to talk about it, that's cool. But let's not use this space to iron out beefs with other readers or air dirty laundry unless you are presenting the information for the readers to help you resolve a problem.

Topic of the Week: Which male bodybuilder, pro or amateur, has the best ass on the planet? My vote goes to Victor Martinez. Close 2nd is Gustavo Badell. But not because of how that bootay looks on stage. Moreso, the way it fits in those jeans. My, My, My.

I just want to say that FitSarah is a incredable wife and mother...She has her hands full with me and the kids, day in and out...Im very thankful that she is in my life and makes my life much easier every day...Not only does she have to work full time (over 50 hours each week) but she takes cares of our kids/me and still finds time to workout and do her cardio...Even though it might be midnight before she can even get her second cardio session in..LOL !!! She will be competing this year, at a few shows even if it means I dont get to do all my shows...I really believe she has something to offer to this industry and I want to make sure she get to do everything that is possiable for her to be the best...

Hi!
My name's Liz.
Live in Northern Cali.
I was a WABDL powerlifting competitor for several years and have transitioned to figure. I am currently 10 weeks out from the Oregon Ironman, May 16th.

I will do the Sac contest in November and that will be it for this year.

My hope is to compete on National stage by late 2010.

I'll start a journal where I'll put my dirt. Just wanted to say hello and I'm so glad this site is here!

Hey all!

I've been posting in here for a few days, so I thought it was time to introduce myself. :p

I'm Steph, 26 from central NJ. I work in business development at a pharmaceutical company by day and by night, I'm in school to obtain my esthetics license in cosmetology (to be completed June 2009).

I've been working out seriously for over a year and a half, during which time I have become more educated with regards to training and nutrition. My bf is a bodybuilder in the NPC and experiencing his prep and shows last year really inspired me, especially seeing all the beautiful women on stage with fantastic physiques. I kept working hard and eating right throughout 2008 and decided before the end of the year that I would like to try my hand at competitions in 2009. I'm currently just under 7 weeks out.

I recognize some names here from the MD forum (which I would lurk and sometimes post at), as well as a few other forums that I belong to. Thanks again to TammyP for directing me here. There's so much helpful information and advice and I'm glad to be here.

-xox.

I'm Kris, a total newbie! My husband started competing 8 years ago when he was "just gonna do one show". Our first date was a workout, and we actually got married in a gym, that sounds sick lol! Live in eastern WA, no kids, one 20 lb cat. I'm doing my first show in April. Something just clicked (oh maybe that was my 39th birhday, lol!), and I believed I could do it. He's taken a year off, so it's been all about me. It's a lot of fun, and I could easily get the bb bug.

My name is D, I am 25 years old, turn 26 on 4/3......not too excited. lol!
I have been an athlete all my life ranging from soccer, to basketball, to swimming, to volleyball, but my love was for softball. I am not a skinny minny girl and never will be. I have come to tersm with that and love my body now.
I want to start getting into figure. I know if I discipline myself enough I can. My fiance is into BB, but I don't want to get into that just yet. I have a wedding to plan therefore, I want to be as fit as I can for that 1st and for most.
I am originally from TX and migrated up to VA which I HATE! But I met my love here so I can't complain.
I am a financial consultant for a bank, but by night its off with the suit and into my comfortable clothes(gym clothes). I love to workout out, but my down falls are.......I love my wine as you can see and dieting and me don't get along. I love to eat and its not always the healthiest stuff, but I try.
I am one of the newbies and am loving this site already! :)

"FAILING TO TRAIN IS TRAINING TO FAIL"

Hey girl! I've got a friend who is shooting for the Sac as his first show so we'll be there! Remind me as we get closer to the show and we'll have to say hi!

Hi all,
I am 29, Middle (Eastern) Europe.

I always say I am trying to be a bodybuilder - I compete several years (both bodybuilding and Figure) but still I was not ripped enough and good enough to be called bodybuilder to myself.

2007 I was competing on Universe NAC in bodybuilding (biggest accomplishment - I have still no idea how I got there :D ). In 2008 I almost died because of kidney infection - now I am trying to make a comeback in NABBA in Summer 2009. I will see.

I am reading this forum mostly. :wavey:

What's up ladies! My name is Stephanie and some of you may remember me from MD although I haven't posted in quite some time... I've been competing since I was 20 and taken breaks here and there whether to bear children or put on muscle or just tend to family I hope though to compete till I can't walk on stage anymore it's such a nice balance in my life. I no longer have time to hang out on boards like I use to :( but hope to be more involved as I'm loving the environment HERE!!

My last show was in NOV 07 and was planning on competing at Jr Nats in 08 but very unfortunate personal medical issues didn't allow that to happen and long story short it bummed me out and set me back a bit but not enough to hold me down! Although competing is not on my front burner right now it is always in the back of my mind and as the dust settles will be at the forefront again!

-xox.

I was also featured on bodybuilding.com last fall under female transformation of the week, I talk about my experiences a bit in the article.

i'm not too keen on giving out my name and location online, due to some bad past experiences.... so i'll just say that i am currently overweight... i have a background as an equestrian, i used to bodybuild in highschool, was always pretty athletic, until i graduated... then i have steadily ballooned up, have lost weight and gained it back.. and now i'm at my heaviest around 400lb.. i'm 5'8, goal weight is 150 or so... give or take 20 pounds. lol i don't really know what i'm supposed to weigh, but that's just the goal for now. i'm 25 years old, female and want to drop the fat and get the body i've always dreamed of... which of course has muscles! when i was in HS i loved bodybuilding, so i want to get back to it.. once i get back to a weight where i can ride horses again, i want to do that as well.. i am also interested in rock climbing, sky diving, learning how to ballroom dance and i want to be uber flexible and strong. i'm not concerned with loose skin or whatever right now, because it's kind of stupid to worry about my skin when i am as fat as i am. lol i will get it cut off or do whatever i need to do when that time comes around, but for the moment, i don't really care. getting HEALTHY is the main concern for me! if i can build a nice body on the way, then why not?

i have 1 dog, he's a pyranees.. i definitely recommend the breed to anyone, because mine has brought me an immeasurable amount of joy. he will be 9 years old this october, and he still looks like the little 17 lb fur ball my dad brought home for christmas almost 10 years ago!.. except now he is about 100 lb.. lol funny thing.. i can keep my dog in shape, but i'm a fat ass.. chaps my ass. i don't know why it is like that. lol but i'm working on it! (probably love him more than i love myself)

um... i'm definitely into natural medicine, natural cures for stuff, organic meats and produce... i love baking stuff and cooking in general. lol i can make a plethora of types of food... thai, indian, korean, chinese, japanese, mexican, middle eastern dishes, raw, vegan, vegetarian, etc.. i'm not much for hamburgers and hot dogs, i hate spaghetti and most pasta dishes... i have never been normal in any regard, be it with food or my taste in guys or whatever... as for food, i prefer some kind of rich curry dish or spicy korean food over mcdonald's any day... um.. i support legalized marijuana, but don't smoke it. it's such a useful plant! you can make rope, clothing, gas, etc with it.. it's also healthy and extremely nutritious to eat the sprouts, nuts and oil... i don't know why it's illegal! pot heads are generally on the slimmer side as well!

i want to become a farmer and own a ranch. i would LOVE to be able to grow my own food. i'm very interested in sustainable agriculture and sustainable living, and not having to rely on electricity so much (or at all)... i'm pretty traditional.. i like simple stuff.. i'm a penny pincher.. i don't have any kind of debt.. i own my own business.. i am happy overall.. i've done a lot of cool stuff in my lifetime.. and plan to do a lot more!

i have an affinity for astronomy, i love science fiction, slapstick comedy and documentaries.. i am divorced, and have no interest in dating or anything like that right now (don't know if i ever will!).. i have no children.. like many, i am not too fond of them.. i don't mind them in small doses, but i can't see myself being the one to change all the diapers and get out of bed to go take care of them when they're crying and all that... i like my sleep! lol

um.. i'm pretty independent.. i have a knack for foreign languages... currently learning to speak japanese and hebrew... i'm very religious (messianic)- but that does not mean that i am judgmental... lol it's not my job to judge anyone, so i try not to. of course we all slip up sometimes.. but i guess what i'm trying to say is that i am not a narrow minded person that thinks everyone's going to hell for whatever reason. i'm definitely not perfect myself, so i can't sit there and judge you!

someday, i'd like to learn how to play classical piano and guitar.. i've always wanted to learn how to play bass, too.. but one thing at a time!!! :D

my family are all pretty big and strong.. my dad's side is short and stocky (but my dad is 5'11 lol!).. and my mom's are tall and statuesque (but she is 5'5 lol!)... i have aunts that are 6' tall.. and relatives on both sides are very strong. i have natural bodybuilding genetics. example: my great grandfather used to work in a coal mine in kentucky.. he shoveled 18 tons of coal per DAY, and there are receipts to prove it!.. also, a lot of my uncles have been green berets.. one even guarded the white house.. my dad was an 82nd airborn paratrooper, and just happened to be roomates with mike ashley when they were in the army (see pic below) so he learned a lot about bodybuilding and stuff from him.. :)

http://www.natural-muscle-mass.com/images/mike-ashley.jpg

And there ya go! lol I could go on, but who really cares? :peace:

Jess, 26 and in Minnesota now. Work as a RN, not married and single. No pets as I'm on the go all the time and a little gypsy always visitng friends here and there. I HATE sitting around.

Born and raised in Fargo, ND and moved here 2 years ago. I have been in the gym since 14 years old and started competing at 19. First show was the '02 NPC Teen Nationals and then back down to the local level doing four more shows between Fargo and Minneapolis. I haven't competed since '07 and getting ready for another show in November. I've always done it just for fun but this time taking it a bit more serious and seeing what I can produce. Still a natty and not sure what I really want to do with it other then enjoy it as a hobby for now.

Hi everyone! I am registered massage therapist from the east coast of Canada and I am just getting back into fitness. While I will never be capable of the dedication that you ladies (and my musclehead sweetie) have to fitness, I make my career out of muscles and the human body. I have such admiration and respect for you ladies and (in my professional opinion) find what you do fascinating. I know everything there is to know about anatomy and a great deal about physiology so if anyone has any questions and is willing to trust a pencilneck:p, feel free to ask me! :)

I live in Illinois, I started competing 4.5 years ago. I am a BB lightweight, 4"10, I compete at 100Lb on stage. I look forward to adding more lean mass.

I did my first National show This year and did pretty good for my first time.
I was heavy for many years after my kids, it took me 2 years to lose the weight. Ran into an old high school friend at the store and she exclaimed and I quote "Boy did you get fat!". Well, I was horrified as you can imagine!
Joined the gym that day! But I felt I needed to lose weight before I went in. Sound familiar? So, I tried but it didn't work. I went to the gym that January, 5 months later. 2 years later I was 104 with no muscle.

I was inspired by the BB's I used to watch and eventually tip toed into the weight room. Boy was that scary! I listened to everyone. The people at the gym became like family. We all helped each other. Without them I would probably still be were I was. I owe them a lot! That was 10 years ago I went into bodybuilding.. where has the time gone? LOL's

I am now a personal trainer, and will be opening my own studio soon. I have met some wonderful people in this sport and look forward to meeting more people and sharing experiences.

Well for the past 5 or 6 months I have been working out with my bf and completely changed ny diet. (btw he's on here too his name is lartinos). Anyway, I lost sone weight and gained some muscle and I look pretty good, but my problem areas are my arms and my lower stomach. I weigh around 130 but I want to be around 120. I feel like I do so much cardio bur I'm not getting the results I want. I also eat well but sometimes I tend to over eat because I think "well this food is good for me so I can eat a lot of it!", when really that's probably not the case lol. Any tips on eating properly and working our my arms and stomach would be terrific! Thanks in advance!! :)

Sounds like you're off to a good start! First, you can't "spot reduce" so dont' spend thousands of hours training abs & arms. Another thing is that "how you look" is a balance between bodyfat and muscle mass - I'm guessing probably don't have "fat arms" as much as you don't have a lot of lean muscle mass on your arms. And the ab thing - the final and ultimate truth is that abs are made in the kitchen. The ab muscle group is there, but you're probably carrying a higher concentration of bodyfat there (and this isn't unique to you - but rather is more an effect of estrogen in general).

Can you list out what is your typical day's meal plan so we have an idea of what you are eating? Many people say "I eat clean" or "I eat good" but that doesn't really tell me much about what you are REALLY eating. If youc an list like:

Meal 1: 8 am
1/2 c oatmeal
1 whole egg + 2 egg whties

Meal 2: 11 am
2 scoops protein mix + water

etc

And then if you put that into a food counts program like www.fitday.com (http://www.fitday.com), that will tell you the total calories and macronutrient breakdown (%, grams of fat, protein, carbs) you're eating. There's no "right" or "wrong" diet, but rather just small tweaks to optimize what you are doing.

If you want you can start your own thread so the discussino doesn't get lost in the Introduce yourself thread.

Hi ladies! I'm an occasional lurker here, and thought I should finally introduce myself. This is my 5th year competing in Figure. I placed 4th in my class at the Arnold Amateur this year, and just recently won my height class at the Lehigh Valley show. As of tomorrow, I'm only 6 weeks out from Team Universe!

Thanks for allowing me on this board. I’m Meredith (AKA Mimi), and have been an advocate for female bodybuilding for years. I mostly hang out on AmazOns, but found this recently, and really enjoy the scene here.

A little more about me... I’m here in Chicago, and have been a Flight Attendant for almost 14 years now. I guess some would say that’s my career, but I look at it as my "job" as theater, writing, and art are more my true passions in life. I’m really considering leaving the airline industry for good.

My nickname Mimi came from my beloved Aunt years ago. I have NO clue how she derived Mimi from my full name. LOL, but it’s cute... or so at least I hope it is. ;)

As for my advocacy for female BB’ing, it’s more about getting people to open their minds to the beauty and acceptance of women with muscle. My first edification was when I was dating a trainer, and I happened to watch her teach a class at our Y, and we could clearly see the kids were confused by my GF’s mass and size. It was an eye opening experience to see how our society and people in general are "taught" to believe that power and muscle is solely a "men’s only" club. I saw the human side to BB’ing that day, and not just the physical side. I ALWAYS compliment a FBB anytime I am in public... plus... well, we gals love hearing compliments, don't we? ;)

I also get the question if I am a bodybuilder. Although I seriously considered it a few years ago, I stayed with my curves.

Looking forward to hanging out here!

Peace and Love,

~Mimi

Hello! My name is Nicole and I live in Manitoba, Canada - Although I am originally from Alberta and miss it terribly! :(

I was always overweight growing up -- been called every name in the book from "fat" to "tubby"...you name it! In high school I started attempting to work out and lost most of my fat by doing cardio and eating somewhat healthy.

In university, I though I might want to try a career as a police officer (not what I do today!), so I started working on my strength training. That's when I fell in love with building muscle, and became interested in bodybuilding.

I've been lifting seriously since 2005. LOVE weight training and want to get BIGGER! I hope to learn a lot from you ladies.

No plans on competing (stage fright!)

Hey everyone just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. My name is Taylor and i live in Oregon. I have competed in 2 figure competitions so far and plan on competing again in April at the Emerlad cup in Washington. My plan is to put on 5-10lbs of muscle hopefully while staying as lean as possibe, I eat clean all year so thats not an issue!! If anyone has any advice or personal experience with needing to put on weight feel free to let me know. Im definatly a hardgainer, during my last lean down i was only doing 5 hours of cardio a week and still eatin 1800 calories!

Hi Ladies,

I've been lurking around the site for months and finally got up the nerve to introduce myself here.

I'm a mom of 3. I used to be a chemist until I stopped working in '07 after the birth of my second child. Last year, after weaning my 3rd child, I decided I was out of excuses and needed to get back in the gym. It took me 6 months of knocking myself senseless on my own until I finally admitted defeat (that I didn't know how to take my fitness to the next level) and met with a decent trainer in May of this year. He helped me with nutrition and training, with the goal being to look like a figure competitor (even if I never set foot on stage). I was already eating clean but paid no attention to total calories or macro breakdown, so it was no wonder I wasn't putting on any muscle. I did a nutritional overhaul going from very little protein/day to 50%P, 20%C, 30%F and a weekly cheat. I absolutely love eating this way and have from the start. So it's been 6 months of hard work and I guess I must be starting to look the part: last week one of the trainers (a former national level fitness competitor) encouraged me to think seriously about competing!

I started taking progress pics about a month ago that I hope to eventually post in a training journal. One of these days I guess I should also check my weight (been boycotting the scale since July!) and my bf. Maybe not. I've found my progress increased dramatically when I stopped checking my weight/bf constantly and started relying on the tape measure and how I look in the mirror to direct my training.

I don't know that I'll ever have what it takes to make it on stage (mostly due to time constraints of caring for 3 kids and a husband with a broken back (literally)), but I can't tell you how much you ladies have inspired me in my own training (who knows, maybe I'll even start a training journal). For now I just love training hard and living vicariously through all of you who make it to the stage!

Sunny

Hi ladies,

I have been unintentionally lurking as well and thought I should introduce myself. I'm Cheryl and this is my first year competing in figure. I love it! Lovely to meet you all and I'll check back often for new tips and stuff because this site has been really helpful in prepping for my first two shows. I will be doing the Arnold Amateur in March and really looking forward to it and hopefully getting to meet some of you there :)

Ciao,
Cheryl
