Chuck Liddell told SI.com that he will not be fighting again until after April 2010. Liddell lost 4 of his past 5 fights and believes that he needs to take some time off to let his brain heal from all the shots he's taken to the head.

Here is what Liddell told SI.com about resting his head:

"Hopefully my brain can heal over time. The shot last fight is something that normally wouldn't hurt me. I think I need at least some time off from getting hit. I'm going to take time off sparring then. I'll train still. Still gonna roll. I'll probably do a little more jiu-jitsu than normal because I like it. It's fun."

I hope he is right, and it's just a matter of letting his head heal. Seems like a really nice guy. Wouldn't want him to suffer any life long injuries. I wish him the best.

it means if he can get some take downs and submit some opponants it will complement his striking making him unpredictable..and a more well rounded fighter instead of one dementional

They hardly even post in the PIT, I think there's other reasons for those choices that we plebs don't know about.

dude.. he is 39 years old.. by the next time he fights he will be 40.. lidell's game is established.. at this point of his career.. its not like he is going to change his style of fighting.. he is a striker and has unbelievable take down defence.. and people are scared to get him down because he'll clip them if they come close..

at this point of his career (last 6-7 years) its all about preperation and minor fine tuning for different fighters.. he cant just become a gracie and become a submission expert..
