The huge Olympia Weekend on September 18-21 is now a part of bodybuilding lore and tradition, and the Women's Bodybuilding division onceagain chipped in with a flair for creating an ongoing re-writing of its own history. Of course the major story came by way of the fact that this year's Olympia was the 50th anniversary of an event that has long been recognized as the premier showcase for the finest physiques in the world. NBC had even jumped on board to televise the Mr. Olympia on this special weekend.

That win was a gift.

They knew she was going to retire so they tossed it at her... That's just an opinion of course. I had her 2nd.

Bah! You and your opinion.

Even if it was a coin toss, the champ gets those legend points.

I say Iris won fair and square...

It really wasn't a coin toss though.

She was clearly not the best on Friday night.

Legend points must count for a whole lot. ;)

Still. No disrespect to her. She is the greatest Olympian of all time. Period.

She just shouldn't have won this year.

She's retired now though, so next year will be someone else.

I heard she had some kind of health problems...something about difficulty walking or something? Does anyone know anything about that? Thanks.

Also while not as hard as usual I still think she takes it in the pictures above.

No idea on her health, but based on pics alone Kyle > Popa on structure, arms, calves, back while Popa Beats her on hardness and abs.

And though conditioning should count, Münzer was never Mr. Olympia.

Franco in '81 much?

Pretty much.

It is what it is. I have no skin in the game. It's just how I saw it.

I'll believe it when I see it, because she could decide to unretire.

Competitors tend to miss that stage, more than they initially realize.
But she has nothing left to prove, even I believe she has too many titles.

I actually thought Debi should have won, but now I guess Alina was most deserving.

Rito Bella keeps getting misplaced as well.....and I thought she should have won last year.

Too many politics and not enough clear-visioned judges in the IFBB.

Whaaat? You thought Maria Rita Bello should have won the 2013 IFBB Ms. Olympia???

Brigita Brezovac has a structure to match Iris Kyle's but Bello -- while possessing inside-out conditioning -- is saddled with narrow shoulders and (channeling Lonnie Teper here) a missing calf.

Thanks for the shots of iris next to Alina. Physiques vary among women so much more than the men in BB, which I love but it it makes it hard to pick a winner. I don't know if I could ever decide as quickly as the judges do. I have only attended one show, the '97 USA and agreed with Lesa Lewis winning the heavyweight class; thought that either her or Judy Miller should have won the overall, but Judy only got 3rd in the middle. Iris placed 2nd in the heavy class but looked more liek a light-heavy (heavy emphasis on the light). I like the mass that she has added over the years which gave her great shape.
