He won that contest, the 1985 NABBA Mr. Universe.

Belknap was also the 1981 AAU Mr. America and placed 3rd as a Heavyweight at the NPC Nationals the following year, 1982.

Never did much in the IFBB Pro shows, unfortunately.

I would guess the Nationals as they all went pro (though perhaps not at that meet).

Tim took the Light-Heavyweight class in 1981 at the AAU Mr. America and that was it from what I'm seeing, and Glass took the Middle-Weights in 1983 at both the NPC Nationals (where Christian was 3rd in the Heavies and Tornabene was second in the Lightweights) and the IFBB World Amateur Championships.

Didn't go to the show Curt, but it was broadcast on the Wide World of Sports. Funny how certain events stand out in your memory. (Tim must have really made an impression.) I remember they addressed his diabetes during the coverage and interview.

Shawn can be tough to take, but his "Where are they now?" type interviews over there were awesome. I don't know if he's still doing them or not. I'll have to check.

I must have missed that one. But I do remember WWoS covering different shows. Believe Arnold's appearance or reaction to his win at the 1980 Olympia put the kibosh on their coverage of competitive bodybuilding.

Didn't they film that competition but then never aired it? :(

I read that his name was pronounced without the "K", as "Bel-nap." Anyone know for sure? His brother Fred also competed for awhile. I couldn't find any pix of him.
