Do you think wide grip as in past shoulder width helps give wider back on bent over rows? I have been doing shoulder width however im not sure wether it is working my middle back more. What do you guys think on grip?

width grip targets different areas more than others...the wider the upper & outer, the closer the inner & lower.thought it will give you back width,it's considered more like a thickness exercise.if width is your target I suggest doing them but incorporate in your workouts exercises like pulldowns & definately straight arm pulldowns & straight arm decline pullover, that helped my width a lot

Keep a shoulder width grip with an overhand grip and slightly close for a underhand grip. Dorian talked about how wider actually lessens the stretch and work of the lat. He also stated he preferred lat work done in a neutral or underhand grip.

I think that if your grip is to close than it puts your arms at a strange angle. I usually use a slightly wider than shoulder width grip when doing them overhand.
I also use the same width if I ever do them underhand. I rarely use the underhand grip.

yeh i think the point future makes about a wide grip not letting u get a full range of motion is a good one i have heard the point made before but had forgotten it. Thanks for the input guys

i would say just vary it.dont ever let your muscles use to any one thing.
