Well what brands have you tried that are aussie and what was good an what was shit.

I will say that Musashi, Gen-tec and Max's are all shit, I would not use them even if they were for free.

Brands I do like are

Vital strength

and the whole sale place I go to,

for fish oil blackmore's is the first one I have tried that does not come back in burps and also makes my shoulder joint feel so good!

I tried 3 different types of Max's protein powders and never again. Two were too sweet and the third one, which was mochichino was bitter...wtf?
It was like drinking syrup down...slimy and gross!
I don't like redback either. I don't think that is very good quality. Tried a creatine from them once and it was garbage. So it turned me off the whole range, which is usually the case.
Aussie brands which I like are Vital Strength and Bodyripped. I tend to use american brands more so though.

red back are shit yes! it is like mixing cement.

Body ripped is shit! I bought their tribulus once only to find out it had no tribulus in it! I called them up and hada go at them and got my money back.

Never bought their shit again.

American brands are good but the price is fucking stupid! for example I have seen mass xplosion from nutrex for 15 - 20 dollars on USA sites and over here they want you to pay 70 dollars plus! and its only got 15 go's in it!

Give Marcus at http://www.fitnesscentral.com.au (http://www.fitnesscentral.com.au/) a try. He manufactures himself and it's all top quality at great prices.

Musashi is the SHIT!!!!!!!

With Aussie products you get what you pay for because it is monitored by the government!!!!! not like the yank stuff they could put anything in there and slap on a colourful sticker

BudTheBuilder
02-22-2009, 09:28 AM
I actually think musashi is for those who have not looked into the specific's of a supplement. No offence to you bro at all.

Musashi has alot of fillers in it and also alot of cheap shit. But they and other aussie companies do not have to display everything on the label and I know this for a fact as my family and the company they own has been trying to make it a MUST DO thing that every product no matter what it is list everything in it.
Now they do not have to say what is in it if it is under a select amount etc.

Like many BB's I have tried numerous brands.
Maxs-overpriced and poor qaulity, mixes like concrete.
Musashi-hugely overpriced, tastes like shit
Aussie Bodies-Poor qaulity, not cheap either.
Vital Strength-Good qaulity, mixes easily and tastes good. can pick it up cheap if you chop around-probably the best Aussie protein available in terms of bang for your buck
If I had to pick a brand I like it would probably be Dymatize. Although not Australian their products mix well, taste great (although they do have some flavours you couldnt pay me to try such as Pina Colada!!). If you're buying from the right place you can get it for a very reasonable price. And with all protein, the more u buy at a time the cheaper it is.
But all I basically use now is either unflavoured 20kg bags of WPI and Casein. Ill sometimes grab some of the flavour sachets too.
www.proteindirect.com.au (http://www.proteindirect.com.au) Bulk buy flavoured and unflavoured protein with cheap delivery rates, especially considering the weight of some deliveries.

My personal experience with brands like Musashi and Maxs are they're full of sugar. I'm not a fan of high carbs so looking for lean/low calorie supps are the way to go i reckon.

Posted in another forum but has anyone had any ProGenics protein powder? I've been hearing about it a lot on the radio show by Dave n John and been looking for it around the web. Know of any Aussie distributors?

It'd be interesting to see a full accurate breakdown of what's in it as would be required if sold in Australia. But to me it looks like an expensive whey protein shake. By those labels it allows 15g per hundred grams for the enhanced array of bioactive nutrients. so thats about 4.5g per serving for flavoring and enhanced array of bio active nutrients.

not a big fan of musashi, aussie body etc.... anything you can get in the supermarket shows thatt it's probably targeted towards the naive individuals who only see the word protein and think it's all the same...(ps.my opinion anyways)

I did use Top Nutrition once (I think it was owned by Danny Chau??) but it was expensive and mixed like cement....

I haven't used any aussie brands of late...although that Sustained Release Forte from one of the links above looks promising...might gove it a go when im done with my current protein.

The new Max's formulas are better than they have ever been. I stand behind their products a lot. Mix great, taste great and top quality whey. Yes they went through a phase where they changed their whey supplier. The general opinion was "CRAP". They went back to the original whey supplier, changed some flavours and they are awsome again.

The cut carbs bars have 7g of sugar. Far less than most other brands.

Overpriced? I stock a hell of a lot of brands at my shop and max's are definately competitive now. I sell them at wholesale and they are actually quite cheap.

I dont get any extra for max's or anything im just giving my honest opinion. I also like the fact they are an Aussie company and I love to push for the oz economy. The owner Keith is also an extremely stand up guy. Over the years he has put a LOT into Australian bodybuilding shows and bodybuilders/athletes as well.

I haven't used it in a while, I must admit, so it may have change. I did try of the cut carbs bars the other day and I though it was fine. No where near a Mars bar.

That's interesting FFM. I used to use Max's products exclusivley a few years ago. Then suddenly they all changed, the quality seemed to go down and the price went up and was comparable to the expensive imported brands all of a sudden. That's when I stopped using them. Maybe your right and they have fixed there game up again. I'll have to check it out their chocky WPI was great.

On another note you most likely have the guff on Redback products. I've heard that it came under new ownership a year or so ago and the new owners are trying to fix up all the issues they had. Do you have any info on this product as well?

No mate didnt come under new ownership. Still George (wont attempt his surname lol). Theres so many rumours about Redbak its not funny mate. Ive heard that theyve been sued many times for not using what they say is in the products eg: milk powder instead of WPI. Ive heard they also blend ASN's Evolve proteins which is enough for me to avoid those as well.

I believe when Redbak entered the market as a price leader they should of stayed that way. Their WPI now costs more wholesale than Max's and theres just no way my consumers would buy RB over Max's or any of the other quality brands that are available. When I opened the shop I had quite a bit of Redbak. It is taking me a very very long time to get rid of (even at below cost) and I won't be getting it back.

Thanks for that bro. We try and keep our prices the cheapest, especially on the aussie products. We are all also keen bodybuilders and love just chattn about training and supps. I really mean it when i say im not in this for the $$$ (which is good coz theres none yet hahaha) but for the bodybuilding. Not sure if were you are mate, but VitminMe in Melbourne sells it. I don't think their web site lists it http://www.vitaminme.com.au/site/page.cfm. But the Bourke St store sells it.

Along the lines of protein, particulary wpi.Musashi is one of the best brands you could go with. It is now owned by nestle, they have a new multi-million dollar refining facility. it retains one of the highest amino acid profiles(a good reason to pick it). some may or may not like the flavours- this is purely subjective.

my bias towards musashi aside, just about any australian brand is pretty good.better than inferior american imports. there are various legal loop holes for brands to mis-label their products, for example certain carbs ,what we would call sugar, are not recognised as by the fda, and can be listed on a label as fibre. or the misleading amount of caffein listed on a supp, may only be the amount of actual caffein added, excluding other addives that contain it, yohimbine, gurana.

Ill stick to buying australian.

It is taking me a very very long time to get rid of (even at below cost) and I won't be getting it back.

i always get suspicious of products that are very cheap. buying supps that are cheap is not the way to do it to get good results. a much better way is to get top qualty products are low prices.

got this email from ASN about species..

The Species line of products we used to import has been taken off the website for 2 reasons: The Lypolize fat burner was stopped from import by customs so we were not able to get it into the country. As was the Arthrolyze joint product. This is because they contain ingredients not present in local products, their labels have claims and also the TGA requires that we pay them huge sums to certify capsule products to allow their sale.

great i just ordered 3 bottles of arthrolyze...

This is Australian WPI. That may sound good, but I must warn you, be prepared for a shock. The product is cheap, and of extremely poor quality. For people who couldnt give a shit about taste or quality and have a strong stomach. However the owner is a very nice bloke and will help you out with whatever you need. Always gives you an honest answer and doesn't flog u shit you dont want.
Cheap-yes. Good-no.

Anyone know what's happened to ultimatewhey.com.au? It's been saying that "We are currently updating our site" for weeks now.

It looks like Bulknutrients.com.au have added pre-flavoured protein so I'm happy to go there, but I usually want to stay loyal to a supplier if they've been good in the past.

The owner of Ultimate Whey is a friend of mine and he informs me they are re-designing their website and it will be back up very soon(as ofthis post).
He also indicated they have a product release coming up that will blow away everything else available.
If I hear more Ill try to post it to let everyone know.

Hey Guys,

I thought Id let everyone know that www.ultimatewhey.com.au (http://www.ultimatewhey.com.au) is back online and look to have expanded significantly.
They still offer a good range of bulk powders (WPI,creatine,BCAA's etc) but now also carry some of the more popular brnads of supplements such as Gaspari,Max's, USP Labs etc.

One word. Syn-Tec. They have by fair the best products in Australia. Sourcing there powder from fonterra in NZ buying the top grade powder. There is 8 levels of powder you can buy off them Max's use one of the shittest and I assume bioflex or bulknutrients would aswell as I don't see them being about to afford the top grade powder for such a small company. bioflex get there powder from fonterra they've stated on sizematters forum many times.
