use the paint on dream tan first. one coat wed. nite take a shower the next moring put another coat on. thursday nite take a shower put another coat on. no more showers. friday moring or afternoon one more coat. sat.morning day of show about a hr. before stage use the dream tan lotion . this has worked best for me. that many coats with jan tana or protan turns me green and gets blotchie

both.. use show tan as a base.. you only need about 4 coats depending on how good of a base tan u have.. then friday night or sat. morning add a coat of competition tan as a "finisher"

Jan Tana new Tan ULTRA 1 is pretty good !

yes .. either that or a round makeup sponge I am telling everyone a foam paint roller works best. any large store like Meijers has them in the hardware dept. I can tan a person completely in 15 min. Flawless.

I used 6 coats of protan for my last show, and still looked pale as shit (I'm normally damn pastey). A few other competitors mentioned how they would use 2-3 coats of pro-tan and then apply a light coat of dream tan before hitting the stage. ANyone else try this approach?

I use handi-wipes to apply my pro-tan. I can get like 20 plus coats out of one bottle, no shit. It just takes forever to put on with all of those coats. With the lite coat using the handi-wipes, it's dry in about 5-10 min, so you can get in like 10 coats in 2 hours. It takes me about 4-5 hours to apply one bottle. how much does it usually cost to get sprayed at the show, because I was thinking about just doing this for my next show to save time.

I've done this with a base of 2 coats of protan then like 6 coats of jan tana (the regular show tan).
Most recently, at Jr Nationals, I got sprayed by jan tana without a basecoat of anything and they used the ultra II formula for me since i'm pretty white! and it was the prettiest color i've had yet! professionally done with professional color turned out flawless! :)

I've had a lot of success with the PT and DT combo - I agree its messy but if done right and you put the DT on right your color can be fantastic. I can't get dark enough with PT and JT combined or stand alone. Last show I did PT (6 coats) JT (2 coats) and Quick Bronze - stage pics my color doesn't have depth - not really to light just not rich enough. I know its me. So I am going to have to go back to PT & DT combo for this show.

The key is to put the DT on thin and let it set in as you pump up. Personally if you leave it on to long it wears off and just leaves the bronze/gold flake and looks odd. It is an art but when it goes on right it looks great.

Me too! 6 Coats contest colour, 1/3 jar of shimmer, very lightly before I leave for pre-judge and blow dry it. Little Muscle Juice Posing oil and I was set. I must add that it all depends on what organization your in and where your competing.

Jan Tana is the worst product I've ever used. I've turned green and the color looks dirty at times (so don't sweat, I guess). I've used Pro Tan before. It worked fine, however, I've switched to the Dream Tan spray cause it's so much milder. I usually apply 2-3 coats the night before and then I apply a thin coat of Dream Tan #2 before pump up for the pre-judging.

I have always gotten the best colour this way. A lot of my friends (who compete) have had similar experiences.

By the way, The Jan Tana spray that people get backstage can be a complete disaster, although it looks okay on some people. It runs when your body heats up and your PH is off.

I use Liquid Sun Rayz. http://www.liquidsunrayz.com/ Also for application nothing beats a foam paint roller. http://www.stencilease.com/db/display.asp?input=1151 can paint an entire boddy flawlessly in 15 min!

P.S. Not talking out my ass. I have tanned more ass than Miami Beach!

I also use Liquir Sun Rayz. I had all kinds of good comments about my tan and have been asked numerous times now what I did.

Has anyone used the new continous spray bottle from Protan? I believe it's a 16 ounce bottle. It's not a pump spray, but a continous sprayer.

We had a girl come to our room (and I saw her NAKED!) :) Anyway she had green pits and crotch! Not good! So we fixed her up! Just have a back up plan always.

We were thinking of putting on the regular Protan first, then just using the spray as the final 1-2 coats. We'll test it out a couple of months ahead of time first to see how it looks.

Do they do the spray on at the show or do I have to buy some stuff and do it my self. My first so coming up soon so I'm lost. Plus I'm black how much and what type of tanning products do I need?

I wanna say I heard a girl say something like MAC 40. I dont wear make up cause I am a guy.lol. but I think it just goes by how dark your tan is and then you need to find a match.
