Glad to see Trigg coming back. Unfortunately, Koscheck might destroy him.

I didn't notice that Trigg was on the card, I reckon he could give Koscheck a run for his money.

I like this card actually! Does Cole Miller bounce between 145 and 155? Also, I hope Rich doesnt try and stand in front of Vitor. That would be bad. Vitor was a pro boxer I believe. I hate Kos and his fucking retarded mop hair, but I think he will KO Twinkle Toes

With the form Vitor is on Rich would be very stupid to try and stand up with him. His KO of Matt Lindland was nothing short of horrific.

A concussion suffered during training has forced Mike Swick out of his welterweight title eliminator against Martin Kampmann at UFC 103 “Franklin vs. Belfort” on Sept. 19 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Swick confirmed the news via Twitter.

“I am out of UFC 103,” he wrote. “It sucks, and I am sorry guys. I got foot swept while sparring this week and lost my legs. Landed on back of my head and neck and suffered a pretty bad concussion.”

According to Martin Zelaznik, the UFC’s top executive in England, EliteXC veteran Paul Daley will replace Swick in the match against Kampmann.

“Semtex has come to the UFC with a lot of hype, a lot of ability and -- as he’s already proved -- a lot of confidence,” Zelaznik told The Sun, a U.K.-based publication. “He was asked to step up and -- real fighter that he is -- he accepted right away.”

Daley was originally scheduled to meet Brian Foster in his UFC debut at the event, but Swick’s misfortune provided the Brit with a golden opportunity to move up the card. A gifted striker, the 26-year-old Daley has posted nine wins in his last 11 bouts, losing only to former Bodog Fight champion Nick Thompson and world-ranked welterweight Jake Shields in that span.

The current Vitor is alot like 90's Vitor, his last win over Lindland (who was the number two ranked middleweight in the world at the time) was an incredibly impressive 30 second KO.

Im going to stream it again. Its not worth paying for in my opinion.

As far as who to take, Im not sure on the main fight either. Belfort is a different animal then the UFC has seen for a long time. Rich is one of my favorite fighters, but it's going to be a major uphill battle for him. IF...thats a big IF I had to bet on it, I would take Belfort by TKO. However my heart says Franklin by decision.

Jim Miller vs. Steve Lopez

Round 1

Miller stopped Lopez in round two.

Miller firing from his normal southpaw stance attacks early with punches. Lopez, also a southpaw returns the favor. Miller catches the lanky Lopez with a punch that wobbles him but he smiles and shakes it off. Miller winces during an exchange and paws at his left eye as if he was poked but he does not stop fighting. Miller lands a high kick and goes back to rubbing his eye with his hand. Perhaps sensing some urgency, Miller unloads a flurry and drops Lopez with a left. He rushes in to finish and locks up a guillotine along the cage. Lopez does well to defend but as soon as he is out he starts eating leather. Miller, working in the guard delivers some big left hands. Lopez remains calm and utilizes his guard to limit the damage from Miller. With just seconds left, Miller sits back for a leg-lock but doesn’t come close. Lopez gets up, but
with no time left on the clock. 10-9 for Miller.

Round 2
There is little happening in the second round when Lopez waves to referee Don Turnage that he cannot continue. There were a couple of exchanges but nothing really landed. Replays show Lopez’s shoulder dislocated when he threw a punch. Jim Miller wins by TKO at 48 seconds of round two.

Drwal stopped McFedries.

McFedries comes out swinging for the fences and Drwal keeps his distance with kicks to the lead leg. McFedries is really loading up on his punches as he unloads with both hands. Drwal answers with a left hook that opens a small cut above the right eye of McFedries. Drwal lands a snapping low kick and enters into a clinch with his dangerous opponent. Drwal, while standing, takes the back of McFedries. He winds up heavy knees and connects them with the left thigh of his foe. The fighters separate and go toe-to-toe with punches. Drwal gets the better of the exchange as McFedries is already gassed out. Drwal gets a takedown and moves to mount. Drwal unloads and forces McFedries to give up his back to avoid punishment.

-Z-
09-19-2009, 09:16 PM
Round 2
Drawl roughs McFedries up with a series of straight-punching combinations. Drwal gets a takedown and moves to side control. Drwal advances to mount and McFedries offers nothing to resist. Drwal takes the back and secures a tapout at the 1:03 mark of round one from a rear-naked choke.

Escudero knocked Miller out.

Escudero circles away from his taller opponent. Miller is effectively using his reach in the center of the Octagon as he uses his jab and straight right hand. Escudero scores a single-leg takedown, but he does not follow his opponent to the floor. Miller stands and seems a little trigger shy as he pulls two punches. Miller lands a knee and misses a spinning-back kick. Miller connects with a teep kick and Escudero slams him to the floor. Miller stands and is belted by a right hook. Miller crumbles and Escudero unloads on the downed fighter with two right hands and a left. Referee Yves Lavigne steps in to save the American Top Team product at 3:36 of round one.

Griffin lands two hard low kicks to start the fight. Griffin sneaks a jab through the defense of the Brazilian. Griffin takes the center of the cage with his back foot and throws his jab and right hand while Franca circles. The Xtreme Couture fighter continues to abuse the left leg of Franca with low kicks. Griffin connects to the body with a straight right. The American has doubled up on his jab for the first time of the fight. Griffin peppered the BJJ black belt throughout the first frame, but the crowd was displeased with the pace of the action.

Round 2
Griffin stays behind his jab to start the second stanza. Griffin clips Franca with a right hand and a toughman-like brawl ensues. Griffin mixes in a kick to the body with his haymakers and Franca catches it. Franca holds the leg and throws his right hook nonstop to the head. Griffin does little to trump his free-swinging opponent, as he throws his right hand exclusively until Franca lets go of the leg. Technique returns to the bout as Griffin drops Franca with a right straight. Griffin swarms and absolutely tees off on his prey. Franca is taking heavy shots, but he’s trying to catch Griffin in an armbar. Franca goes for the heel and Griffin has none of it. He keeps punching until Franca goes limp. Referee Dan Miragliotta steps in at 3:26 of round two.

Daley rocked Kampmann.

Round 1
Kampmann opens up with a punching flurry, but nothing lands clean. Daley stands tight in the pocket and counter punches effectively. Kampmann is rocked from a Daley right hand. Crisp, technical striking is on display in this contest. Kampmann attempts a single and Daley shrugs him off. Daley blasts Kampmann with a left and a right. Kampmann answers the assult with a right hook of his own. Both fighters are landing at a good pace as they trade punches. Daley hurts Kampmann with a left hook. Kampmann stumbles back to the fence and Daley unleashes both hands to the head. Referee Yves Lavigne steps in for an awful premature stoppage at 2:31 of the first. Lavigne stepped in as Kampmann was defending in a standup position against the cage. Kampmann was clearly dazed by the onslaught of punches from Daley, but it did not warrant referee intervention. .

Cigano is applying pressure with punching flurries, but nothing is landing clean. Finally a right hand gets through. Cigano explodes with punches, but Cro Cop is game. Cro Cop is sporting a lump over his right eye. He shoots for a single and fails as Cigano backs away. The Croatian goes to the clinch and briefly throws Cigano to the floor. The Brazilian is cut over both eyes. Cro Cop lands a sharp left straight that rocks Cigano’s frame. Cro Cop is starting to land. Cigano attacks with an uppercut and Cro Cop covers up well. Cro Cop’s defensive strategy is clear: he’s covering up and staying stationary instead of moving away. Cro Cop gets in another left at the horn.

Cro Cop took the punch directly on the eye and then waved to referee Miragliotta that he was done. The official time is 2:00 of round three.

At the midway point of round one, not one meaningful strike has found its target. The crowd is growing restless. A left hand to the temple knocks Franklin down to his knees. Belfort lands another left hook and finishes the Ohioan with punches from both hands. Referee Yves Lavigne steps in at 3:02 of round one.

Ricky Story’s evening had a happy ending, as the welterweight earned $130,000 in “fight of the night” and “submission” bonuses for his second-round arm-triangle choke over Brian Foster at UFC 103 in Dallas.

Story, in his second UFC appearance, traded freely with Foster until he found a single-leg takedown and the choke within Foster’s guard in the second stanza.

UFC 103 drew a $2.4 million gate and 17,428 attendees to the American Airlines Center, according to the promotion.

Vitor Belfort also took home an extra $65,000 for his first-round technical knockout of Rich Franklin in the 195-pound catch-weight main event.

The 32-year-old Brazilian started cautiously, but soon found his opening with a left hook that clipped the former middleweight champion and sent him forward to the canvas. A turtled Franklin couldn’t fend off the incoming barrage to both sides of his head, signaling referee Yves Lavigne to step in at 3:02 of the first round.

The bout was Belfort’s first with the promotion since February 2005 and puts him on the fast track to a title bout against middleweight king Anderson Silva.

Paul Daley’s first-round thrashing of Martin Kampmann at UFC 103 Saturday put a damper on the promotion’s plans to match the Dane up with Mike Swick in a No. 1 contender’s bout for the welterweight title.

However, UFC President Dana White agreed the Brit’s impressive debut performance could have landed him a shot against Swick next.

“Could be,” said White. “This kid put himself on the map tonight. I love guys that step up on short notice because it’s an opportunity. He took the opportunity and made it happen.”

Swick fell and suffered a concussion in training 15 days before the Kampmann bout, forcing his withdrawal from the contest. White had previously announced that the winner of Kampmann-Swick would get the opportunity to face champion Georges St. Pierre next.

Sitting cageside Saturday, Swick smiled and shook his head after watching Daley’s handiwork firsthand.

The potential bout, which would again pair two hungry strikers, could be a viable addition to one of the promotion’s end-of-the-year cards, if there is space for it.

“The good thing is we have time,” said White. “GSP isn’t going to be ready until February.”

Meanwhile, White said he’s mended fences enough with Quinton “Rampage” Jackson to begin discussing the moonlighting fighter’s return to the Octagon to face fellow “Ultimate Fighter 10” coach Rashad Evans.

The bad news is that White said Jackson’s commitments starring as “B.A. Baracus” in “The A-Team” remake, currently shooting in Vancouver, will keep him away from the cage into the new year.

“(The movie) was supposed to be done right around December and now he’s saying they’re doing make-up dates and things like that, so he couldn’t even fight in February,” said White.

White has been critical of Jackson’s decision to take the role since it was first rumored back in August.

“Rampage is an active fighter that took that spot on ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ and he can say he did it for me or whatever, but there was a commitment to fight there at the end of the show,” said White. “He could have fought that fight and then went and did seven movies for all I cared… he was obligated to take that fight.”

White was also skeptical that Jackson’s choice would prove as fruitful as what his “Hollywood agents” have promised him.

“They’ve got him thinking –- you know, he’s going to make this movie for nothing and then the sequel, they’ll make 20 million dollars,” said White.

In other notes:

• Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic refused a request to visit the local hospital, said White, after the former Pride champion verbally submitted in the third round to a progressive beating at the hands of Junior dos Santos. White said he insisted, though.

“I made him go to the hospital, because if he’s going to fly 20 hours on a plane, I want to know that he’s okay,” said White.

• Chuck Liddell will have a friendly face in the audience in White when he makes his debut on ABC’s “Dancing With The Stars” on Monday in Los Angeles. White said he and Liddell would discuss the fighter’s UFC future after his stint on the popular series is completed.

• Welterweight Josh Koscheck, fresh off his first-round dismantling of Frank Trigg, said he told UFC matchmaker Joe Silva he’d be ready to step up at UFC 104 (Oct. 24) or at one of their two events in November if any opening presents itself. UFC 105 takes place Nov. 14 in Manchester, England, while UFC 106 will be held Nov. 21 in Las Vegas.

• Rich Franklin plans to return to the 205-pound division. Attributing Franklin as one of the fighters who helped build the company, White said Franklin would always be welcome in the promotion.

• Undercard entry Steve Lopez dislocated his shoulder mid-punch during his lightweight bout with Jim Miller. White said Lopez’ shoulder was popped back into place shortly after without the fighter having to go to the hospital.

• White said the UFC’s decision to forgo returning to hold an event in conjunction the Arnold Sports Festival and Fitness Expo next March in Columbus, Ohio, was based on the promotion wanting “to try somewhere new.” The UFC has held events there for the last three years.

• White again squashed rumors that the WEC and its lighter divisions would be folded into the UFC in the near future.

“We’ve talked about doing a lot of things with the WEC and the lighter weight classes, but we have a new deal right now with Versus,” said White. “We’re going to do whatever we think makes the most sense for the business. But right now, we have a deal with Versus and the WEC goes on.”
