The Rx Muscle Improvement Contest is a self-designed contest and opportunity to maintain your focus and motivation.

This is not an "official" Rx activity, but rather a contest for the members and by the members of this new site. Props to John, Dave, and all involved in creating RxMuscle.com!

You choose/create what category you want to compete in and then others with similar goals can compete against you and/or provide encouragement as you work towards achieving your ideal physique, strength level, etc.

Hardcore (http://forums.rxmuscle.com/member.php?u=367) mentioned one category "diet with support" and steve g (http://forums.rxmuscle.com/member.php?u=1416) has carved out his niche with the "365 Days of Bulking" category. My "Unknown" category is for the clueless, yeah, like myself. I'm looking to tighten up.

From the categories defined so far...

- Diet with Support
- 365 Days of Bulking
- Competition

... I'd be leaning towards Diet with Support as my category of choice. Guess I better touch base with Hardcore and see how he's going to attack his goal.

I'd like to thank UKwildcat (http://forums.rxmuscle.com/member.php?u=254) as the person who encouraged a discussion of an improvement contest here on Rx and Kell0509 (http://forums.rxmuscle.com/member.php?u=2172) as the person who inspired the creation of the social group. Thank you both!

Here's my improvement contest album which includes my "before" pics.

http://forums.rxmuscle.com/album.php?albumid=58

Again, many thanks to Glenda Bozett (http://forums.rxmuscle.com/member.php?u=979) for posting pics. Her category is obviously "competition" as she is looking forward to competing in the Mr. & Mrs. Jones Beach competition on August 8th and the Team Universe on September 18th and 19th.

How would you define your category so far as it relates to your goals? Post up! :)

This post appears in the following Discussion as well:

I'm in. Alot is happening in the next six months (summer job=70+hours on call/week; law school in the fall- probably halfway across the country) but, those are excuses and I think this is a results thread. So I'm committing anyways. Yes ladies, a man is committing to something, but remember, screenshots of this thread or it didn't happen! =P

My category is probably 365 days of bulking but with an emphasis on lean bulk. I'd rather not create a new one unless absolutely necessary.

What's involved though (he says after signing the contract)? Progress Pics, updates, journal thread? Any start/end dates?

I posted "before" pics in a Discussion thread in the Social Group (link in my sig) but also in an album on my profile (the one with the Rx logo).

Maintaining a journal is a great idea! Do you have a training journal set up here yet?

I do: http://forums.rxmuscle.com/showthread.php?p=42574#post42574

Thanks for choosing a category and joining the discussion, Steve. Steve G metioned doing regular updates. I doubt I'll do more than monthly pics, but will be posting to this thread and the Discussions regularly.

And I started an Improvement thread on the Rx MusclePlace site, too, with a link to the Social Group here.

I guess your end date will be the end of the year since you're doing the 365. Great category.

I thought about a training and diet journal here but I wasn't sure of there were already enough of those here. I don't know if anyone would be interested in checking this out other than myself and my brother. LOL

I think you'd be surprised.

And doesn't your brother need some good reading material to occupy his time? ;)

Do it! :)

Hey guys. Thought id start this off. and share my transformation journey with rxmuscle.com. Please feel free to post your own stories and comment on my transformation.

My story: I've been training since i was about 14years of age. Making good progress. Starting competing when i was 18years. Now am 22. and for the past 2-3 years have been on and off with training and this is due to personal dilemmas and fears. Every time i take 1 step forward. there was always something that seems to pull me 10 steps back. This thread marks a turning point as i feel in order to strengthen the body. The mind and soul must also be in sync. So this is my journey. I hope others can relate to this and be inspired in their own chosen path.

Last time i checked my bodyweight was 230lbs. But i wont check bodyweight as it doesnt tell me the whole picture. My plan is to follow a strict meal plan and training programme. Religiously. as if my life depended on it. And it does. and maybe compete in November.

I will update this thread with daily thoughts on my training, food intake, lifestyle and pictures every 2weeks.

6.58am
I have been up since 5am. I could not sleep as i was so eager to start off the new week. I have already had one meal. and will have another by 8am before training at 9.30am. Everything seems good and i am looking forward to the challenges of the day.

Hmm, well I accomplished one of my goals with posting a training journal. My ultimate goal is to be no more than 10 % b/f come June 1st. I'm currently 223 lbs @ 19 % b/f (that's what this electronic b/f measure tells me, though I feel I'm probably a tad higher than that.)

I plan on eventually putting up pictures on a weekly basis to gauge progress.

You should start a journal man, share your story. Good luck to you with your goals.

I am in on the bulk up. Fill me in on the details.

steve g created his own category - 365 Days of Bulking.

But you're welcome to make your own details. Do you want to do a 90-day bulk or six months or some other time frame?

One option would be to PM or "Visitor Message" or discuss (wait, izzat three options?) in this thread with Steve on how he's approaching his bulk. You could feed off of each other so far as ideas, encouragement, recommendations, sharing your individual game plan, etc., in order to maintain your focus and further define your goals.

It's a contest, but it's more?

Welcome to the group and thank you for participating!

Wishing you great success! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v108/curt_james/Rx/smileys/beerbang.gif

we should come up with some guidelines and objective means to gauge progress for the bulk up improvement contest. anyone want to help me with this? ya know, somthing to make sure we gain muscle mass mostly and not just pork out and watch the scale keep moving up aimlessly?

Body fat percentage would be one gauge or strategy for tracking LBM gain versus simple fat gain.

I've had bf% taken at the local Gold's Gym with one of those Tavata (sp?) gadgets.

What do you suggest?

And thank you for participating!

Well, how's everyone doing in their quests for excellence and improvement?

I have dropped the Wavelength approach and will be looking at a different eating plan as summer begins. My summer starts with the last day of school which is fast approaching. Switching from a three days per week with sporadic cardio sessions to a four-on/one-off routine. I'm taking two grad classes and so will qualify for the student discount at the local Gold's. It's $125 for 90 days which will cover the summer months.

Wishing everyone good progress and dedication in the gym.

Anyone up for posting some pics?

Nope. But I have lost 6 pounds in the last two weeks and plan to do a "summer cut". How long is "summer" for you? 10 weeks...12 weeks?

I don't even know. Summer ends around my birthday is how I look at it. That's August 21.

Couldn't tell you the last day of school or when school starts in the fall. I'm oblivious like that. :)

Congratulations on the six pounds. :beerbang:
