I just seen an interview with Stan Mcquay and Charles Glass. This guy seems like a freaming idiot. The guy asked him abt 5 questions concerning Mcquay and how he will look and he wouldnt answer one of them. He seems like he is really full of shit and just selling himself well. I hear of a lot of big names using him. Whats the deal with this dude?

His track record isnt exactly something to sneer that. Flex Wheeler, Chris Cormier, Stan Mcquay, Gunter Schlierkamp, Dennis James, Silvio Samuel, etc etc etc

The internet is an amazing thing. People with no fucking knowledge can speculate about a well respected, and successful, trainer. But then, he did "just seen (sic) an interview" so he probably knows all there is to know about Charles Glass.

Glass has been around for a long time. Was a very good bodybuilder in his day as well. Do a search or two and you'll find a ton of material on him, new and old. His ego?...Shit,bro. That kinda comes with the territory.
Everyone's selling the "I'm the best in the biz" thing.

I cant blame you for feeling the way you do. Your entitled to your first impression.
But like I said before...Do a little homework and you quickly see....Glass is a very respected guy.

i trained w/him for about 2 yrs & he is very knowledgable & an expert at contest prep...
that said- I dont think he likes to "market" his clients and esp when this industry is so cut-throat- i have the impression he likes to leave the speculating on how his guys will do in shows to himself...

Having watched too many videos of Charles Glass training professionals my personal opinion is that he is far too interested in being a professional and a trainer. He should do a few magic tricks and dance around occassionally. I'd also like it if he yammered on about his client's private lives and weaknesses.

Read the entire post before you start talking shit. Chill the hell out people! The man is a God! better? You cant look at who he has trained I dont believe to say he is great. There are actually a lot of body builders that already know somewhat what they are doing and how it needs to be done. Im sure the people he trained were not just a bunch of rookies that he turned into greatness for the most part

To me charles is that guy who when an athlete has exhausted 95% of any potential and at his wits end on improvement due to being stale etc he can take said athlete, identify what needs to be done and guides that person to 100%.
Top pro bodybuilding comes down to pretty finite things, he is great at maximizing those things.
Ronnie was a genetic greatness just waiting to explode, then he hooked up with the right combo of people to guide him to the right mix of training, diet, supplements(legal and otherwise), and final contest tuning, then the rest was history over and over

There is no fucking way that Charles glass is $500-$1000 per hour, no doubt he is a great trainer and a guy i would love to train with but ID go with the $75-$150 rates that were suggested by LAFitness. Especially seen as the lady who posted that has trained with Charles.
When i was training at golds id keep an eye out for him and see what modifications he would have his clients do on diff exercises. Mind of information when it cmes to training.
But back to my point, Do you honestly think pros can afford $2500-$5000 a week for a trainer. Hollywood celebs dont even pay that for fuck sake. Even if i had 50 million in the bank i would not be able to justify paying that much for a trainer.
Avirex
08-27-2009, 03:52 AM
I think him being full of shit is way out of line. From vids I have seen in my opinion he seems like he is just counting reps and that's it. I would really enjoy him sharing more of his knowledge about training and diet and about why his client is doing a certain exercise and the muscle its targeting. I personally enjoy hearing Dorian Yates speak in regards to training.
Charles Glass marketing himself...nothing wrong with that. Mass with Class with Charles Glass!!

I personally wouldnt drive 3 blocks to train with the guy. The day I need someone to tell me what order to do an exercise or what to do next set is the day that I will stop training. I also dont need a motivator...if you do, thats great and im sure it would work perfect. I can understand someone helping with diet and supplement side of it but training? I will say this, You can always learn something from somebody and if that somebody is Charles then you can learn a lot. Bodybuilding is not just about picking up a weight and putting it down or shoveling in endless amounts of calories. It is the fine tuning and tweaking to a program for a specific individuals physique which will get them ahead.
I lived in Playa Del Rey for a year, working at Gold's Gym Venice and interacted with Charles on many occassions. He is a very humble, nice and intellegent individual dedicated to improving everyone who comes to him. He would arrive very early at the gym, sometimes before 5a.m. and not leave until very late. Yes, in between sessions if he had time he would go eat but he runs like a machine all day turning out improved individual after improved individual.
I can speak from first hand experience, as I have just hired a trainer who tells me exactly what to do, when and how to do it and my physique has rapidly improved. If I took your approach I wouldn't be training right now but I admit I don't know everything and am willing to learn to improve.

Charles Glass definitely knows what he's doing. However, I think he might take on a little too much at times. I've seen him train clients and he does have a tendency to fall into the trap of merely counting reps. In his defense, I'm sure it does get monotonous at times. Training clients for 14 hours a day is sure to have that effect.
I much prefer Dorian's intensity as a trainer. He seems to pay more attention than the person lifting the weight!
And yes, I am a Yates fan.

Charles is a stand up guy and knows his shit!!! Not to mention he has the best reputation in the industry as a trainer!!
I've got to work with him! He just fucks you up at the gym....it's great. I always learn something new!! His approached is simple with just a change in technique that he has developed and it gets the job done.... and of course there are other factors involved when he is training you!
Well worth the money if you can afford it! I can't anymore...and I pay way less than thee $200 rate he charges and I get 45mins:)
I think how you worded you post is what made you come off as an asshole! Next time think about what your going to write before you post something that will piss people off!! You don't want that rep in here! I'm sure it wasn't your intent! At least Your question was answered.
