At registration competitors will be required to bring (1) passport size photograph for their Natural Olympia ID Passport and (2) their music CD is they want to perform their posing routine should they place Top three in their division. Official Team and group photographs will follow after registration at 4 PM.

Natural Olympia ID PASSPORT
Each competitor will receive their personal Natural Olympia ID Passport at registration on Thursday. The ID Passport must be worn to all functions as it identifies you as a Natural Olympia competitor and gains you free entry and access into everything we have arranged, ie. Opening Party, Natural Olympia contest and backstage, Gala Luncheon and Parties. You need to bring a passport size photo to registration for your Passport.

SHOW FORMAT
The 2009 Natural Olympia will introduce international competitors to a new event format successfully developed last year in Australia to cope with large competitor numbers. The Natural Olympia will consist of 2 x One Show events with half the divisions run in the first show followed by the rest of the divisions in the second show. The new format means competitors will be judged and presented with their placing and awards at the same time - there is no need for competitors to come back and prepare again later in the day. For spectators this big show is halved so those who have come to watch someone especially will not have to sit through the entire event. Judging will remain the same, comprising of Round One (Symmetry) and Round Two (Muscularity). Due to the large number of competitors only the Top 3 placegetters will have the option to perform their individual posing routine. Note: posing routines are performed by all professional and mixed pairs entrants.

Natural Olympia Running Format
Times given are only estimated times your division will be on stage. Please understand it is impossible to know how long each division will take to judge. At the Event we may have an updated schedule.

Notes on Divisions
2009 Natural Olympia also offers divisions not available in Australia. Any Australian competitor who has qualified in another division can take advantage of the multiple-entry and enter one of these if they wish:

Important: The division Australia calls Ms Figure is the Ms Physique class at the Natural Olympia!

Figure International - Follows the popular IFBB/NPC style of non-posing division. Consists of just one round using comparisons and symmetry poses performed in a two-piece costume. Note: The one-piece posing costume previously associated with this division was removed this year and you are not required to purchase one - just a two piece posing costume like other divisions.

Mixed Pairs - judged on routine only.Routine may be 90 seconds in duration.

Bikini Diva - 2 rounds (1) Solid Colour Bikini and (2) Pattern bikini. Judging takes into account competitors attitude and confidence.

Male SportsModel - 2 rounds (1) Beach Wear and (2) Sports Apparel. Australians can enter directly into the Male SportsModel division as there is no qualifying event and do not need to take out INBA Membership to compete in this one-off event.

BIKINI DIVAS – EVENT INFORMATION
There are two rounds for Bikini Divas. Round 1 (wear solid color bikini swimsuit), Round 2 (wear patterned bikini swimsuit). Judging consists of Quarter Turns and Comparisons. The format at the 2009 Natural Olympia will be explained on the day as it will be affected by the size the stage area provided and final entry numbers. The Bikini Divas judging will be conducted in the Cavill Mall at 4.30 PM on Friday 16 October and is a free event to watch. As Bikini Diva is not a division offered in Australian INBA contests, anyone interested can enter directly and do not need to take out INBA Membership to compete in this one-off event.

Required Posing Suits
2-piece bikini style swimsuits will be worn in each of the two rounds. You may wear G-strings and thongs but are not required. One bikini suit will be of a solid color in Round 1. One bikini swimsuit will be of pattern.

Beauty - overall cosmetic appearance, photogenic, skin tone and sex appeal.
Poise and General Impression - overall grooming, personality, self assurance, composure and walk.

Muscle Tone & Definition - overall muscle tone and NO muscle separation. The judges are NOT looking for muscle mass or "ripped to the bone," extreme striations or the vascularity of a bodybuilder or a figure competitor. They are looking for shapely and toned bodies.

Symmetry & Proportion - overall structural harmony of the figure relative to the shape and size of various body parts and proportional balance of opposite body parts. The upper and lower extremities should flow aesthetically when viewed from all sides creating a balanced and symmetrical appearance.

Note: In all rounds, competitors should display a very sexy and feminine attitude and keep a relaxed posture. There is NO FLEXING allowed. This is not a Bodybuilding or Figure competition. The Bikini Divas are allowed to wear jewelry such as earrings and belly rings. Appropriate footwear must also be worn for each round.

SPORTSMODEL EVENT INFORMATION
The Female & Male SportsModel divisions will be judged and awarded at the Opening Party at Shooters Bar on Thursday night (7-10PM). The format of the divisions will be explained to competitors on the day as it will be affected by the size the stage area provided and final entry numbers.

The divisions will consist of two rounds.
Female: Round 1 - Bikini and Round 2 - Sports (fitness/gym) wear.
Male: Round 1 - Beach wear and Round 2 - Sports (fitness/gym) wear.

Round One - Bikini or Beach Wear

Approapriate footwear should be worn. There should be no physique poses/stances at any time – we are looking for a model.

1. Body: Physique should display shape
2. Appearance: Do they have sex appeal?
3. Stature: Ability to move, turn and stand with confidence like a model
4. Symmetry: Overall balance and line
5. Structural flaws: Skeletal assessment

Round Two - Sports (fitness/gym) wear
This round is designed to give the judges a general impression of the competitors in their fitness workout wear. Women and men are to rubber sole shoes such as aerobic or cross-training shoes. No jewelry, gloves, hats, etc. are permitted.

BACKSTAGE
At international events no helpers for individuals are permitted backstage. Only competitors and team officials will be allowed in the pump up and backstage areas. Competitors must use their team members (or tanning official designated by the Country) to help them prepare. The backstage area is very small and does not have room for benches and weights – so no weights are available to pump up. As such, we encourage you to bring and use stretch bands or similar to pump up.

DRUG TESTING
The Natural Olympia will be fully drug tested by our Government drug testing body called the Australian Sports Anti Doping Authority (ASADA) who are the WADA approved drug testing agency in Australia. Cheating in INBA events is a serious offence and harsh penalties are applied to an athlete who breaches our anti-doping rules.

Natural Olympia Indigenous Opening
INBA is very proud to announce famous Indigenous Australian and didgeridoo player, Adrian Burragubba, has been choosen to Open both Show One and Show Two of the Natural Olympia at the Southport RSL on 17 October 2009. Burragubba will perform a traditional Australian Aboriginal Welcome Ceremony for the Natural Olympia competitors, international visitors and overseas dignitaries. Burragubba is one of Australia's most prominent cultural educators and traditional Aboriginal performers, having traveled to the USA, Europe and Asia for promotional events representing Aboriginal Australia. He has released two musical compilations, Didj In Us (2001) and Didj a Tale (2007), as well as a "Beginners Guide to Playing Didgeridoo" (2008). His musical career is supported by speeches and performances explaining Aboriginal Australian culture and history and acts in the role of cultural advisor for Musgrave Park Cultural Centre. Burragubba is from the Wiri people of Central Queensland.

A didgeridoo is one of the oldest instruments to date.It consists of a long tube, without fingerholes, through which the player blows. It is sometimes fitted with a mouthpiece of beeswax. Didgeridoos are traditionally of eucalyptus. In traditional situations it is played only by men, usually as an accompaniment to ceremonial or recreational singing, or, much more rarely, as a solo instrument. Skilled players use the technique of circular breathing to achieve a continuous sound, and also employ techniques for inducing multiple harmonic resonances. Today the didgeridoo it is commonly considered the national instrument, not only of Australian Aborigines but of Australia in general.

Australian Competitors - How to Qualify for the 2009 Natural Olympia
Competitors who qualify in the three Divisions (Teenage, Novice and Intermediate) not offered at the Natural Olympia can cross-over. This means Teenage competitors qualify for the Natural Olympia Junior division and Novice and Intermediate competitors go into their height class in the Open division.

* Top 3 in any INBA contest held in VIC, NSW, SA and ACT will qualify for the 2009 Australian Titles and provisionally qualify for the 2009 Natural Olympia. The provision in relation to the Natural Olympia qualification is competitors must also compete in the Australian Titles - however your placing at the Australian Titles will not effect your Natural Olympia qualification.
* Top 3 in the WA State Titles will qualify directly to the Natural Olympia. Due to venues been unavailable in Perth, the WA State Titles will be held on the same day as the Australian Titles. If WA competitors wish to compete in the Australian Titles they can do so without qualifying.
* Top 5 in any contest held in the Natural Olympia home-state of QLD will qualify directly to the Natural Olympia. QLD competitors who qualify for the Natural Olympia can compete in the Australian Titles if they wish.
* Top 3 at the 2009 Australian Titles – this essentially only applies to competitors who have already qualified for the Australian Titles from 2008. If they do not compete in a 2009 event prior to the Australian Titles they need to qualify at the Australian Titles.
* The Gold Medallist of each 2008 Natural Olympia division has qualified directly and can go directly into the 2009 Gold Coast Natural Olympia to defend their title.

Why offer Australians a provisional "early" qualification in 2009?
The concept of an early provisional qualification has helped competitors enormously since it’s inception. It gives contests earlier in the year increased importance and this has decreased the ‘bottleneck’ of competitors at State contests. By providing an 'early qualification' competitors can plan and save for an important contest and trip. Notwithstanding the Natural Olympia falls over school-holidays and the INDY 300 the following week.

Finally, are you wondering why you have to compete at the Australian Titles enroute to the Natural Olympia? Simply because the purpose of an early qualification is to give competitors concrete notice so they can plan, prepare and organize for an International contest and trip. A provisional qualification is not designed to change the process that is normally required. Except for QLD competitors – we don’t expect them to travel to Melbourne for an event that is held in QLD.

Australian Uniform
Competitors representing Australia are required to purchase and wear the Australian Uniform. They are available for purchase at the following events, (1) QLD State Titles, (2) Australian Titles and (3) Thursday 15 October at the Natural Olympia Registration. We are offering a discount basic uniform (consisting of polo shirt and jacket) for those on a budget. The full Australian uniform consists of Jacket, pants, shirt and includes the cap for free. There is a range of sizes available in jackets, pants and polo shirts – however “first in, best dressed” when it comes to what sizes are available when you buy. Importantly, this uniform can be used for all future international events.

Full Australian Uniform $157 (Tracksuit pants with jacket, polo shirt and cap)

Basic Uniform $99 (Polo shirt and Jacket)

Individual Australian Uniform Items:
Jacket $69
Pants $49
Polo Shirt $39
Cap $24.50

Travelling Advice for International Competitors
Minimum time required to recover from the effects of jet lag is one hour for every hour you spend travelling. Try to arrive (Wednesday 14th) in the afternoon or evening so you can sleep and wake at the correct time. When you board the plane in your Country, adjust your watch to the time in Queensland, Australia and eat according to the time here. Same applies to sleep. Drink plenty of water. Eat Lightly. When booking your airline ticket, ask for low fat meals to be served. But also take your own food on the plane with your carry-on luggage. Also bring some packaged food in your suitcase, so you can survive for several meals without the stress of finding bodybuilding food immediately upon arriving. Note: Australian customs is amongst the tightest in the world, all luggage will be screened. You must declare all food items – even candy in your pocket! You will not be able to bring any unpackaged food - regardless if it is cooked - into Australia. If you bring supplements, keep them in original containers as it’s likely custom officials want to inspect your "pills and white powder".

Consider using melatonin tablets (5-8 mg) before bed. This will help you overcome jetlag, the stress of travelling and help you sleep. Melatonin is produced by the pineal gland and in response to darkness. During the day melatonin levels are low. Melatonin can help reset the body clock. Melatonin is not available in Australia, but you can buy in other Countries like Singapore and America.

Don't be critical of your contest condition as you can expect to be 20% off your local contest condition due to the rigours of travel however, everyone is similarly handicapped. That is why I say those who win international events are those who travel best and do not get upset by unexpected situations. Try and plan so you can be very self reliant.

If you are tanning in the hotel, bring your own sheets and pillow case to sleep in the bed. Otherwise, can can get away with just a pillow case and old "jammies" to sleep in. Hotels usually pass-out when they see the tanning stains left behind by bodybuilders and they will charge you an outrageous cleaning fee.

One important message about competing internationally – hope for the best and prepare for the worst. The way another country runs a contest may vary from what you expect, purely because each Countries uses a slightly different format. Also, International promoters only know the extent of who is competing at the last moment. It can throw scheduling out. So be flexible in your mind and last minute preparation. However, rest assured the 2009 Natural Olympia will be a fanastic experience for everyone. The INBA Promoters have run many international events and dedicated 18 months into the planning of the event on the Gold Coast. The 2008 Australian Titles were successfully held in the same venue using the same format, so the Promoters have prepared as diliently as our competitors!

History of the INBA Natural Olympia
In 1995 Wayne McDonald developed and hosted the World Natural Cup in Australia - the first international drug-free natural physique event outside America. This was the beginning of the International Natural Bodybuilding Association (INBA) which was officially formed in 1997 by Denny Kakos, President of the American Bodybuilding Association. In 1998 Denny Kakos as INBA World President, staged the first Natural Olympia in the land of the original athlete, Greece. The INBA Natural Olympia is now recognised as the pinnacle and most prestigious of natural bodybuilding event in the world - an international, 5 year minimum drug-free competition for the best natural athletes who qualify to compete.

With the INBA, unless it is specified (ie class 1, 2 or 3) height classes are depended on the number of entrants in the class.

Generally speaking for the shows I've been involved in the "short class" is under 170cm.

Would you have qualified in previous contests?
They had the INBA Canada and had 2 shows/year here.West coast and east coast. This is the first year they got rid of them. No more INBA Canada. I never competed with them but planned on it this year until they got rid of the shows. I believe everything happens for a reason and something good will come from this, but it is still weird that they just got rid of it and didnt answer me when I wrote and asked INBA about what I should do if I want to compete with there organization.

Ive competed with the aba/inba/pnba since 1998, the last show i competed in was 3 week ago and the previous year i competed in the team usa and won the class. From there I got a special invite.

Am I a natural Pro, I have competed in many natural pro qualifiers not just this organizations but in many others. I have never accepted my pro card, I can accept it at anytime.

That dosnt make sense, I remember back in 98 at the natural olympia, canada brought a strong team and they have always brought a strong team to the natural olympia, I'm sorry to hear that. try calling the headquarters here in the US

Hey Kiyoshi,
Awesome news your coming to Australia to do the the Natural O! I hope you have a ball while you're over here. It's held in my home town and I will be competing in the Juniors and it will be great to meet you and to see you first hand up on stage!
I was just wondering what your height is in centermetres and what class you will be competing in, open class 1,2,3 or 4?
Thanks

It will be a great experience coming to Australia. I have always dreamed of going there and now I'm coming. I'm coming ready bro!!!!despite me being sick right now and having a pulled hamstring everything will heal by the time I get there!!!!

As far how tall I am in centimeters, I couldnt tell you. But I'm 5'9 so I could be in the medium tall or tall class most likely medium tall.

I wont know if I will be in the amateur or pro til I get there and check in.

Hope to have alot of fun out there and it will be nice to meet you and everyone out there!!!!!

I don't know if there will be one available.. I have emailed "someone in the know" to see what we can get.

Check this out.. It's Tim Martin (last year AM Nat O winner) on the Today Show this morning...
