Canadian middleweight Patrick (The Predator) Cote’s return to the Octagon has hit another snag. Cote, who has not fought since a knee injury derailed his attempt to dethrone champion Anderson (The Spider) Silva at UFC 90 in October 2008, hurt his knee again in training for his comeback and will be out until at least February.

The Rimouski, Que., native confirmed the bad news on his Facebook page late Monday. He was set to undergo a second surgery in 10 months on Tuesday, this time to repair a damaged MCL.

Cote first injured the meniscus in his knee in preparation for a January 2008 fight against Drew McFedries, whom he beat by knockout. His knee was put back in place and he was quickly back on track –- he also defeated Ricardo Almeida in July 2008 by split decision to earn his title shot against Silva. Unfortunately, his knee gave way in the opening minute of the third round of his bout against the Brazilian belt-holder and he could not continue.

The 28-year-old striker underwent surgery following that bout and was in the process of rehabbing –- he had hoped to return to action later this year.

Cote (13-5), who dropped his first four fights in the UFC, had rebounded to even his record in the Octagon before the TKO loss to Silva due to injury.

Knee injuries are no joke, especially in MMA. he better take the time off needed and not rush back.

You must have posted your Bisping interview as a reply and not as a new thread. Bisping is garbage.

Bummer. I'm still interested in a Silva rematch.

He will never get another shot. He'll be fighting for strikeforce within the next few years
