Fedor Emelianenko will make his Strikeforce debut in a showdown with undefeated heavyweight Brett Rogers, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker announced on Wednesday during the Russian superstar’s public workout at the Fighthouse Gym in New York City. No date or venue was announced.

Unbeaten in his last 27 fights, Emelianenko (30-1, 1 NC) flattened former UFC champions Andrei Arlovski and Tim Sylvia in his most recent outings. The 32-year-old Russian knocked out Arlovski with one punch 3:14 into their match at Affliction “Day of Reckoning” in January but has not competed since.

Hard to handle on his feet and on the ground, Emelianenko has finished his last five opponents inside one round and holds victories against Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, 2006 Pride Open Weight Grand Prix winner Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and former UFC heavyweight champions Mark Coleman and Kevin Randleman. He has delivered 23 of his 30 career wins by knockout, technical knockout or submission.

Rogers (10-0), meanwhile, launched himself into the national spotlight when he dismantled Arlovski in 22 seconds at a Strikeforce show in June. The 28-year-old Minnesotan has finished all 10 of his opponents and stands as a formidable physical challenge for Emelianenko. The 6-foot-5, 265-pound EliteXC veteran will own a significant height and weight advantage when the two meet.

Oh Christ on a cracker.............

I wonder what Rogers game plan will be? Probably the same as with Arlovski. I'll call Fedor by sub in the 1st, Or KO in the 2nd.

Rogers is going to rush him at the opening I think. Could result in a take down, hence my sub prediction. Regardless, I'm glad they are getting this going quick like

How can anyone get in the ring/cage with this guy and be confident? That's a hell of a mind set to overcome against Fedor.

Should be a good bout, I agree with Plate's 1st round sub by Fedor. Roger's aggression will probably get the best of him.

Brett Rogers said he’ll be banking on Fedor Emelianenko’s technical lapses when he faces the world’s top-ranked heavyweight in Strikeforce sometime in October or November.

The bout, the first of three Emelianenko has agreed to with Strikeforce, was announced -- sans a date and venue -- by the San Jose-based promotion last week.

“There’s loopholes in everybody’s game, and in his game, the way I see it, he can sometimes get a little sloppy,” Rogers told the Sherdog Radio Network’s “The Jordan Breen Show” last week. “He is a patient guy, but when he feels that he has to give, he kind of rushes it a little bit. Just on that, I can kinda set him up for a knockout just by faking an injury or something, just jump in and out his offense a little more than not. Hit and move. Hit and move.”

Rogers, 29, earned his shot against the No. 1-ranked Emelianenko after knocking out former top-three contender Andrei Arlovski in 22 seconds at a Strikeforce event last June. And though the Minnesota native will give the vaunted Russian a hefty 6-foot-5, 265-pound plus package to handle, many are skeptical Rogers can re-create the shocking upset he scored against Arlovski.

Rogers, who’s won all ten of his bouts with his fists, isn’t one of them.

“I feel good about the fight,” he said. “(It’s) definitely a step up in competition once again. Fedor, he’s definitely done and proved to the world that he’s capable of doing whatever he needs to to get the job done. That right there –- that’s the type of fighter that I’m looking forward to fighting because it’s all about testing your might and he’s definitely got it to test.”

Strikeforce brass has gone to great lengths to keep the bout’s date and venue considerations under wraps until its final decision is made.

Even the man facing the formidable Emelianenko said he’s been kept in the dark.

“I’m really not sure (of the date),” said Rogers, who began preparing a couple of weeks ago for the bout. “I’m guessing sometime (in) October, November.”

One potential location that has passed the lips of a few Strikeforce fighters has been St. Paul, Minn., the city Rogers hails from.

“I definitely would love a hometown fight for a couple of reasons,” said Rogers. “One, I haven’t fought in my hometown and two, Minnesota is an MMA state.”

Training without a conclusion date can be problematic, though Rogers said the lack of information hasn’t hindered his hunger for the bout.

“I’m on a six- or seven-hour a day training cycle,” said Rogers, who trains at Ambition Training Academy in Eagan, Minn. “As long as I’m in the gym, conditioning, doing what I need to do up until the fight, I’m that much more confident. When I get to that point, I just don’t care. I’m a dangerous fighter.”

In addition to his bread-and-butter striking, Rogers said his training has focused on conditioning and jiu-jitsu.

“I’ve been working mostly with the defense, because that’s one of his offenses,” said Rogers. “Everybody’s questioning my ground game. I’ve been working the ground just as well as I’ve been working (the striking).”

- BRETT ROGERS: I'M GOING TO KNOCK FEDOR OUT
http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/articlefiles/9503-BrettRogersRonHumphreySF0409_7439.jpg
Slated to be Fedor Emelianenko's first opponent in the Strikeforce promotion, undefeated heavyweight Brett Rogers plans to knock out the top ranked Russian.

"I'm going out there to knock Fedor out. I'm going out there to knock him out just like Arlovski. It ain't going to be no different," Rogers told Tapout Radio earlier this week.

"The way I see it, he's not going to want to stand with me. He's going to want to take me down and play the little ground and pound game because he knows damn well my hands are ferocious and he's not going to be able to handle my power. It's not going to happen."

Questioned how his ground game matches up against the Russian's, Rogers said, "If he gets lucky and takes me down, because I'm not an easy guy to take down, I'm a stand-up fighter, so I train real hard on standing up, but if he succeeds, I'm cool. I'm cool with it. I'm a patient guy. I'm just going to hold him and get back up and make him play my game, and he's going to have to try all over again."

The bout has been agreed to, but no date has been set. "They just told me to be ready by October or November," said the 28-year-old fighter.

"There's a couple of situations with the UFC. They don't want to schedule a show on the same day as one of their shows."

Rogers is maning up for the press but you know that deep down inside, he knows he has no chance of beating Fedor.

All Fedor has to do is take him to the ground and the fight is over.

Yeah Fedor has a way of getting those armbars going out of no-where. If his ground game isn't up to snuff, he'll get pounded on the ground. If his ground game is decent, he'll get submitted via an armbar. Hopefully I'm wrong and it will be an interesting fight, as I like to see fights make it till at least the second round.

Here is a bio and a little history of who Brett Rogers is. This is the guy who says he will knock Fedor out in their upcoming fight this fall. I decided to post this since no one really knows who he is. :)

Brett Rogers

http://www.strikeforce.com/assets/Rogers.jpg
Fighter Statistics First Name: Brett Height: 6'5" Last Name: Rogers Weight: 265 (121kg) Nick Name: The Grimm Birthdate: 2/17/1981 Wins: 10 Fighting Style: Losses: 0 Club / Gym: Team Bison Draws: 0 City: Minneapolis No Contest: 0 State / Province: MN Country: USA Biography: An undefeated heavyweight hailing from Minneapolis, Brett Rogers left his job in January of 2008 as a Sam's Club tire repairman so that he can dedicate himself fully towards his dream of becoming a heavyweight champion.

Rogers took the plunge in spite of the fact that he is supporting four young children. However, while the decision presents some risk, it is not ill-advised, as Rogers is one of the top heavyweight prospects in the world.

After proving all he could on a regional level, Rogers got a shot at the big show when he made his EliteXC debut on November 10, 2007 during the promotion's "Renegade" event in Corpus Christi, Texas. At the event, Rogers submitted Ralph Kelly with strikes in the first round during the bout. He improved his EliteXC record to 2-0 when he knocked out James Thompson at 2:24 of round 1 during "Street Certified" on February 16, 2008.

The Team Bison member then received the biggest opportunity of his life when he was tapped to fight Jon Murphy during EliteXC's "Primetime" event on May 31, 2008. The card, held at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., served as the first-ever MMA event televised on live network television as a part of CBS' Saturday Night Fights.

Rogers and Murphy hold the distinction of being the first fight ever to be televised live on network TV. After knocking out Murphy just 1:01 into the fight, it was Rogers who earned the distinction of being the first-ever fighter to win a bout on primetime network TV.

Fight History:

Received national attention when he knocked out Andrei Arlovski in :22 at Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields in St. Louis, MO on June 6, 2009
Knocked out Jon Murphy at 1:01 of round 1 during EliteXC's "Primetime" event on May 31, 2008.
Knocked out (punches) James Thompson at 2:24 of round 1 during "Street Certified" on February 16, 2008. The win occurred a day before his 27th birthday.
Made his EliteXC debut in a non-televised match against Ralph Kelly during EliteXC: Renegade on November 10. Kelly submitted due to strikes at 1:45 of round 1.
Knocked out Josh Melichar in the first round during an EFX show on February 1, 2007.

I wonder in how good a shape Brett is going to show up in. He looks a little soft in the body. He does have a shot because of his power. And fedor chooses always to stand with every fighter regardless of there standup abilities. Which can be to his downfall if Rodgers doesn't tank after the first round.

Fedor Emelianenko and Brett Rogers will face off in a heavyweight main event for Strikeforce on Nov. 7 on CBS. A venue for the event is still to be announced, however ESPN.com and Sherdog.com have both learned from multiple sources that the Sears Centre Arena in Chicago has emerged as the frontrunner for the event. The Sears Centre Arena holds 11,800 seats and has hosted IFL events in the past.

Strikeforce announced the event on Thursday. The CBS Corporation owns premium pay channel Showtime, which has a multi-year broadcast deal with Strikeforce.

The bout will be the first of three for Emelianenko, the world’s top-ranked heavyweight, with the promotion and will mark his first bout in a cage.

The event also marks the return of mixed martial arts to the major television network. CBS broadcasted EliteXC “Heat” in October 2008 and garnered nearly 5 million viewers.

"There's no question this is a sport that is fast becoming a force in popularity and as a business," said Kelly Kahl, Senior Executive Vice President, Prime Time, CBS Television. "We're excited to be the platform that will enable millions more to see the athlete regarded as the very best in his sport. The Number One heavyweight on the most-watched network has a very nice ring to it."

Emelianenko, 33, headlined two U.S. events for Affliction Entertainment in July 2008 and January 2009 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif, where he bested former UFC champions Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski.

Rogers, 29, knocked out then top-three heavyweight Arlovski in a shocking 22 seconds at a Strikeforce event last June.

Strikeforce will also continue with plans to promote a Challengers event on Nov. 6 at the SaveMart Center in Fresno, Calif., Strikefroce CEO Scott Coker confirmed to Sherdog.com Thursday. It will be the first time the promotion has held back-to-back events.

Former Chute Boxe Academy striking trainer Sérgio Cunha has been enlisted to coach Brett Rogers in his Nov. 7 bid against the world’s No. 1 heavyweight, Fedor Emelianenko, at Strikeforce “Fedor vs. Rogers.”

Cunha has relocated to Minneapolis with his wife and children for three months to work with the undefeated Rogers. The muay Thai instructor is impressed with the progress thus far.

“I prepared an intense and special program for him using all the videos and information that I have about Fedor,” said Cunha. “I’m really impressed with how focused and professional Brett is. If he keeps training that way, he will reach the fight in great shape.”

Considered one of Brazil’s most profound striking coaches, Cunha helped spur on Mauricio “Shogun” Rua to his first-round knockout against former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell at UFC 97 last April. In the past he has also worked with Wanderlei Silva, Anderson Silva, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and B.J. Penn.

Cunha said the 28-year-old Rogers’ chances of besting the unflappable Emelianenko are much greater than most are thinking.

“I've known Fedor for a long time. He’s a complete fighter, but I can guarantee that Brett has a great chance of winning,” said Cunha. “Most people who see him think he is just a big guy who got lucky against (Andrei) Arlovski, but I can tell you people are wrong, because Rogers is a pretty complete fighter and very versatile for a heavyweight fighter. Fedor is the man to beat and that is motivating him a lot and also myself. One thing I can predict -- people will be surprised by Brett.”

To my knowledge, Rogers has never really been punched by anyone. He might have KO power, but can his chin stand the power of the greatest HW ever? That's the biggest question. I know if it goes to the ground, essentially he's fucked.

UFC and Dream veteran Jesse Taylor will square off with Luke Rockhold in a welterweight tilt at Strikeforce “Challengers Series 4” on Nov. 6 at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif. Strikeforce Director of Communications Mike Afromowitz made the matchup official on Friday.

Based out of Team Quest, Taylor has posted seven wins in eight fights. The 26-year-old Californian last competed in August, when he dropped a unanimous decision to former International Fight League welterweight champion Jay Hieron. A product of Season 7 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” Taylor submitted to a CB Dollaway Peruvian necktie in his only appearance inside the Octagon.

Rockhold, meanwhile, has never gone the distance in six professional bouts. Spawned by the American Kickboxing Academy, he has rattled off four consecutive victories, all by submission, since his technical knockout loss to Tony Rubalcava at a Melee on the Mountain event in 2007. Rockhold has not competed since he submitted Cory Devela with a rear-naked choke four months ago.

In addition to the Taylor-Rockhold matchup, unbeaten heavyweight prospect Shane del Rosario will butt heads with Palace Fighting Championship veteran Brandon Cash. Del Rosario has finished all eight of his opponents, seven of them inside one round.

A lightweight bout pairing UFC veteran and Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Jorge Gurgel with undefeated Californian Billy Evangelista will headline the Nov. 6 event, which will air on Showtime.

In anticipation of Strikeforce's Nov. 7 event and its headliner between famed Russian heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko (30-1) and Brett Rogers (10-0), Showtime will debut a preview show, "FIGHT CAMP 360: Fedor vs. Rogers," on Nov. 3.

The special airs at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT, and the CBS Television Network will also make the show available to its 203 affiliated stations for broadcast in advance of the fight.

"Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers," which is co-presented by M-1 Global, kicks off a multi-event deal between Strikeforce and CBS and puts MMA on major U.S. network television for the first time since EliteXC's short-lived run in 2008.

"FIGHT CAMP 360: Fedor vs. Rogers" follows both fighters as they prepare for their upcoming bout, which takes place at the Sears Centre near Chicago.

"Fedor is beyond captivating as a fighter, and more so, as a man," stated director Ron Yassen, who is embedded in Emelianenko's training camp in Stary Oskol, Russia. "It's a pure joy to film him so intimately as he strives for perfection in life and sport with grace and charm. While training for this most important match, he kindly opened up his life to us in and out of the ring, without the ego that often comes with being the very best at one's craft."

The "FIGHT CAMP 360" concept debuted earlier this year and profiled the competitors in Showtime's highly publicized six-man boxing tournament (the Super Six World Boxing Classic), which began this month. The success of that program led Showtime to produce an MMA-geared version for the Emelianenko vs. Rogers fight.

Replays are set for Nov. 3 (10 p.m. ET/PT on SHO2), Nov. 4 (11 p.m. on SHO2), Nov. 5 (10 p.m. on SHO2), Nov. 6 (10 p.m. on SHO2) and Nov. 7 (4:30 p.m. on SHO).

Erin Toughill has withdrawn from her 145-pound title eliminator bout with Marloes Coenen at Strikeforce “Fedor vs. Rogers” on Nov. 7 in Hoffman Estates, Ill, outside Chicago.

Toughill confirmed her withdrawal with Sherdog.com via text due to “medical reasons,” but would not elaborate other than to note that she was on course to making weight for the bout. Toughill said she will take some time to recover and will compete again at a later date.

MMAWeekly.com was the first to report about the cancelled bout that would have likely secured the next challenger for Strikeforce women’s middleweight champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos.

It is not yet known if Coenen, a product of Holland’s Golden Glory team, will still compete on the card with a new opponent. The bout had been scheduled for the event’s undercard, but CBS and Strikeforce had said they intended to air the bout during the network’s live telecast if time permitted.

Strikeforce officials were not immediately available for comment.

Brett Rogers’ rise from blue-collar worker to heavyweight prospect will be one focus of the Showtime 30-minute documentary preview show “Fight Camp 360°,” which premieres Nov. 3 at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT on Showtime.

Rogers meets the world’s top-ranked heavyweight, Fedor Emelianenko, at Strikeforce “Fedor vs. Rogers” on Nov. 7 at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Ill., outside Chicago.

“It’s been fun to share my story,” said Rogers in a release. “I feel that I am living the American success story. And I hope that others can take some level of inspiration from it.”

Rogers, a father of four, left his full-time job earlier this year as a tire technician for Sam’s Club in Minnesota to commit himself to the sport. The 28-year-old, undefeated striker said he’s had to grow accustomed to the added attention.

“The first few days the crew was here, it was a bit suffocating,” said Rogers. “To have them shadow me through my every move, not just in training, but at home with my family, during meals, everywhere. After a few days, though, I kind of got used to it.”

Mike Reilly, Rogers trainer, believes his fighter will surprise many with his improved game.

“We have new wrinkles in training, new sparring partners and sessions,” said Reilly. “With his striking in top form, I can have Brett focus on other facets of the game: grappling, submission defense, throws and kicks. We are coming in from new angles, we found a new range. We have taken conditioning to a new level. Fedor is in for a shock.”

Critics of Strikeforce and CBS' pre-fight build-up to the Nov. 7 event, "Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers," have questioned aloud why the network hasn't heavily utilized its NFL programming as a platform for advertisement.

That concern will be addressed on Sunday.

MMAjunkie.com has learned from sources close to the organization that main-event fighters Fedor Emelianenko and Brett Rogers are set to appear at Sunday's Chicago Bears vs. Cleveland Browns game at Soldier Field in Chicago. The pair will also be interviewed on the CBS Football Halftime Show.

Emelianenko and Rogers meet on Nov. 7 at Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill., a suburb of Chicago.

Additional sources close to the network indicated that the dual appearance will kick off a late flurry of marketing efforts to complement the advertising that is already in place.

In addition to the halftime show appearance, Emelianenko and Rogers will also be featured in the upcoming preview show, "FIGHT CAMP 360: Fedor vs. Rogers," which debuts on Showtime on Nov. 3.

"Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers," which is co-presented by M-1 Global, kicks off a multi-event deal between Strikeforce and CBS and puts MMA on major U.S. network television for the first time since EliteXC's short-lived run in 2008.

Fucking hell, Fedor vs Rogers is going to be awesome. I can't wait to not even bother checking this thread for the result, or ever wondering or caring who won.

Fedor is a fucking joke and has been for four years.

Fedor is far from a joke. He has fought some top flight competition and beat them. I'm fully aware of how you feel about Fedor. But a joke? Come on dude....

The fight continues and Uflacker gets back to his bread and butter, takedowns. Novaes senses the urgency in the later going and is working for anything off of his back, but nothing is there. The referee stands the fighters back up and it isn’t long before Uflacker secures another takedown and lands in the Brazilian’s guard. Uflacker continues to work with punches to the body as the round and fight comes to an end. 10-7 Christian Uflacker.

The judges score it 29-26 and 30-25 (twice) all for Christian Uflacker, who takes the unanimous decision.

He moves to half and briefly isolates an arm to gain the crucifix position, but Kolosci easily gets out. Back to the feet off of a scramble and Kolosci gets double under hooks. Bailey, who is showing he is the much better wrestler, pummels and puts Kolosci’s back in to the cage. Bailey lowers for the legs of his opponent and works for another takedown. Kolosci fights the attempt for as long as he can, but refuses to put his back to the mat. Bailey stands and lands an illegal knee to the head of Kolosci. Referee David Smith wastes little time stepping in and taking a point. Once action is restarted,
the two clinch and finish the round standing with Kolosci’s
back to the cage. Sherdog.com scores the round 9-9.

Round 3

Bailey stacks and steps back from his opponent, allowing Kolosci to get back to his feet. Bailey shoots immediately to secure another takedown. Kolosci works his way back to his feet but it’s only a matter of time until Bailey takes the fight to the floor once again. With two minutes remaining, Bailey looks to work from half. The two men find themselves in the clinch again, and Kolosci lands a grazing right to the chin of Bailey, but cannot do anything after another successful takedown by his opponent. The fight concludes with the same pattern. Bailey gets a takedown, Kolosci stands, and Bailey gets another takedown. 10-9 Shamar Bailey.

All Sheilds can do is hold on and wait five seconds for the bell. He makes it. Shields is clearly saved by the bell.

Round 4
Shields gets a quick takedown and does absolutely nothing with it. McCarthy gives him two minutes to work before standing the fighters. Miller lands a knee and then gets taken down attempting another. Shields advances to the mount, where he sets up an arm-triangle choke. Miller easily escapes, but gives up his back in the process. Both fighters are fatigued, but the action on the floor does not slow much. Miller rolls and Shields goes to side control. Miller gets to half guard before the horn.

Round 5
Shields lands a right hook to kickoff the final stage. Shields positions himself tightly against Miller’s frame and gets a trip takedown. Shields wastes little time before moving to mount. Miller gives up his back while trying to free himself from Shields dominant control. Shields has a body triangle locked on from the back as he punches the head with his right hand. Two minutes remain in the fight. Miller turns into his opponent and takes the top. Shields gets a quick sweep and avoids a Miller guillotine. Back in the mount is Shields. Miller gets to his feet before the horn signals the end of the bout.

Jakes Shields takes the unanimous decision with scores of 48-47 and 49-46 (twice).

Round 1
Fedor is cut right on the noise right of the bat from a jab by Rodgers. Fedor swings wildly with both hands and misses short. Fedor cracks Rogers with a right hand and throws him effortlessly to the mat. Rogers is game as he quickly gets to his feet and clinches with icon against the fence. Fedor’s nose is a mess. He’s breathing from his mouth and wiping his nose. Rogers gets off the fence and gets mauled by a Fedor right hand. Fedor unloads with haymakers are pushes the off-balanced Rogers down. Rogers tees off with punches from the top and Fedor is busted wide open. Blood is pouring from the face of Fedor. Emelianenko goes for an armbar and Rogers has none of it. Fedor takes the top position and looks for an arm triangle. Rogers escapes. Great opening round, but Fedor’s face is jacked.
