I dont like when women have huge traps...I would train them here and there before...now I train them but not so heavy and I keep my eye on them... traps is important on the back side for a well developed back and that is what I need most to balance out my physique which is why I added them to my routine...

I say no. I think its a TERRIBLE look for a woman, and you usually hit them just a little doing back or delts anyway...

Sure. Why not.

I USED to, they developed more than they probably should have, so I stopped. Now I feel I get enough stimulation from any DEAD lifting work I do. I would think it is more of a personal preference...also depends if they actually NEED the priority.

My traps are huge and I honestly love them. Its a personal preference of course. Aesthetically, traps should not overpower the delts and should obviously flow proportionately with back development. My training is sport specific so I hit traps on a daily basis. Adding high pulls, upright rows and a shrug at the end of the second pull of the deadlift will hit the traps indirectly and that should be quite sufficient for a female bodybuilder.

traps and delts are the coolest thing to see on women.. Atleast in my opinion

I train them. But I don't increase weight quickly. I'll stay on the lighter side as I don't want them too big.

Just depends on your body and the look that you want for yourself.

I think thick traps - even on smallish women - are hot as hell, but you might not want me to think that you're hot.

Your traps are literally 1/3 of your back. Upper traps, inner back...it would look comical if you had NO TRAPS....so...the answer to that is it depends on your overall symmetry and what your body currently looks like. Also depends on your height (again, overall symmetry and balance) and how narrow/wide your shoulders are.

Bottom line -- for a balanced physique you need traps - but it's a case by case basis how much effort you should put into that particular body part. :)

Training is one thing over development is another. And i think it depends on the physique - if its a blockyish physique, then yes, a little more trap development can help show a more muscular look, if its a vtaper high ribcage, small waist long leg physique, then dont highlight the traps by over development.

My trainer has me hitting traps 1x per week. usually just shrugs. I never go too heavy though.

well i guess im adding shrugs to my shoulder workouts. i always thought they got hit pretty well w/ up right rows. my back needs all the help it can get~

Not usually...I personally don't prefer huge traps on woman and I have a short neck so not a lot of room there for them to grow. That being said I do add upright rows or shrugs maybe once per month...

There has been the occasion where I have seen well-developed traps on a female and found them quite beautiful-Laurie Steele is an example

If you dont have good traps your back double bi is going to suffer

Mine aren't particularly outstanding but I've been doing shrugs & upright rows for as long as I can remember. I think part of that was I always was fascinated w/ watching the big guys' backs while they did shrugs - I wanted that :)

I have to do a little more focus work on mine because they seem to lag behind. I guess I have kind of a long neck......maybe that's why.
So I guess it depends on the person.

Why not!? If you're a bodybuilder, BUILD your body. Traps really only get out of proportion if you have high traps (I don't', sadly) and use a lot of heavy AAS. Go heavy too. Fuck the light shit. That's for Ballys. So shrug, tug, pull ad work those traps!

one word you need to get familiar with for great traps: DEADLIFTS.

and they do not grow with light weight and high reps, that's for conditioning which is a completely different type of muscle fibre training for a completely different purpose.

GO HEAVY (a relative term of course) and hit different angles if you want to see improvements.

Laura Binetti is knows for having great arms, but she also has awesome traps.

In this pic, Christa Bauch had very good traps back when she was competing. She must be at least 63 by now.

May have been off season but still amazing shape. She was guest posing at the 1996 BC Bodybuilding championships.

YouTube - Zoa Linsey Trains Alex - Ms.Figure Okinawa 2009

I was training my close friend and client Alex (Ms. Figure Okinawa 2009) last night - back day - and helping her find her inner (lower traps). This is a very tricky thing to do for many women and positioning of the arms is important to get it right. We are also working on bringing more shape to her rear delts so this exercise is perfect for her....I video-taped her so she could see her form visually and make corrections.

Chk it out if you need another idea of how to target the LOWER TRAPS (not the 'bulge' up top by your neck, the inner back to show 'detail' on your physique when on-stage)....

^Powergirl, which gym is that? I'm looking for somewhere to train while I'm there. My friend that I'm visiting does Crossfit, and I'm not interested in going to her studio at all.

HEY THERE J-Lynne - that gym was Risner Fitness Center on Kadena Air Force Base. The other gyms that are popular here are are Gunner's (on Foster - Marine Base) and Torii (on Torii Station- Army...the one my husband runs). Depends what kind of environment and what sort of equipment you like. Hope you have a great time on your trip, hit me up if you have any more questions about Oki. :)

Hey, guys! I don't think that women should train traps. On the other side, being an active is a key to success. However, women take participation in the development of modern technologies, like described in the post http://bigessaywriter.com/blog/woman-part-in-the-development-of-technologies

Everything should be trained to help prevent muscle imbalances. Weak traps and upper back muscles while trying to develop a strong chest can lead to shoulder problems.
