if you have storage boxes, by this I mean a wooden box or one of those step up things 2 22's on that is about 2" below parallel

short of making one and donating it I can't think of a way other than that I said

I would think building one would be the cheapest way. You make it exactly how you want and materials don't cost much at all. Just need some time to cut and screw together.

Go to your gym and stack up plates to reach a height as close to 12" as possible, and measure it for exact height. The got to the local hardware store and buy a 1 3/4-2 pipe and cut it about .25-.5 shorter than the plate height was. then just stack up the necessary plates and slide the pipe in to keep them stable.

You could build a real low box and then stack mats on it to get the desired height, that way you would sort of have a multi purpose box

I use the aerobics steps.
1 spacer = 2 inches
1 step = 3 inches

I typically use 4 spacers and a step which would be 11" Sometimes I'll go 3 spacers and a step (9").

Works great, very stable.

Watch out when using those. I tried to use them once for a platform for my SLDL and it was a disaster. They bend and flex. Not so stable when you're standing on them.
