this shot was about 3 seconds before I collapsed.

not really, but I was in a huge gym, with lots of people milling around, after 30 minutes of constant cardio pain, thinking I would have a hard time even flexing one bicep, and knowing I had about 10 minutes to get showered and leave in order to get to my daughter's swim meet on time.

Promise to do better next time!

Mike posing is great cardio. I have nothing to show but work on posing all the time. From what people have told me doing the mandatories is harder than it looks and the winner is usually the bb who can continue to show themselves best over time.

Looking good on that stepmill. It may be the most evil piece of cardio invented.

no doubt about it. The few times I have done it, I was drenched within 5 minutes. It is way too hard for an uncoordinated sop like me, so I really need to get going on it.

walked in the state park for an hour this morning, came home and made some eggs for breakfast and headed to the swim meet for another 5 hours of fun!

so the weekend basically consisted of 10 hours at swim meet, 4 hours round trips to the swim meet, 2 hours of training and doing the stepmill at Pam's gym, and 1 hour of hiking.

but at least I didn't have to swim. I don't know how Grace does the stuff she does. Today was tough, she swam the 50 breaststroke, had a long break, and then swam the 100 fly, 100 free, 200 IM and the 50 free leg of a medley relay, all pretty close together. I can't even swim 50 at a fairly steady clip without almost dying at the end.

first time in months I have woken up an hour later than I wanted to. I don't use an alarm clock. I ended up doing legs today and no cardio. Noticed while training that my legs are getting really small looking.

Squats: 5 sets of 15 at 135, in 8 minutes

SLDL bb: 12/185 12/205 12/225 10/245 8/265

1 legged leg press: 5 sets of 12 at 315 for each side

lateral step ups: 3 sets of 20 on each leg holding 75 lb db

scared to weigh, didn't eat well yesterday. Ate low carb but not preplanned. we went to the swim meet and just had nuts and protein powder, did not exercise portion control. then at home did the same thing, just ate random protein and fat when I felt hungry. Not a good way for a former fatty to operate.

I am really not looking forward to weighing in tomorrow on official weigh in day.

5'8" ABP

All my weight is in my ass and lower back now.

My relaxed chest is 43 1/2
shoulders barely 50
thighs almost down to 24 now :(

I will tell you it's been a lifelong thing. I lived near an amusement park, and even at the age of 8, the guess your weight guy guessed way low.

Happens to this day. Most people tell me about 175 right now.

I've just about stopped measuring thighs. For one thing, I don't get very consistent readings.

But more to the point, the diameter of the thigh at its largest point seems to bear almost no relation to how good the quads look.

I think mine are 23.5 at the max, but I have almost no "teardrop" at the bottom. :mad:

I know what you mean about the thigh measurement, I get the biggest measurement up pretty high, relaxed. Has no bearing on the flexed look.

I am frightened at how small my legs look right now, but it's cool too because they are very lean

I am not sure I have a teardrop much, will have to look when I have shorts on again.

Pam told me Saturday it looks like I have a lot of loose skin, so that has me a little disturbed. I do know that the lower back and sides area are very very jiggly, not a firm fat at all.

You *are* doing great, looking much leaner (and meaner!). I can tell you from my own experience that the upper body has more body fat than you think. Shoulders, chest, and arms will get smaller. And that's just to get to 10-percent! You're going to blow people away, and get the "anorexic", "you're too skinny" comments :D

By my calculations I am at roughly 15% now, so I am going to look awesome at 10% and even better at 5% for the show

Ed owes me a phone call so I will talk with him about loose skin when he calls me!

I got the "too skinny" comments all the time last spring when I was cutting. I hit 180 and I was "too skinny." Then when I hit 165 and my cheeks were sunken, they told me I went too far. But I wasn't about to peel off in the office and show them what I had attained.

2 scoops of whey
pack of tuna and 2tbsp of pb
pint of egg whites, tbps of pb
2 scoops of whey
pack of tuna
6 oz chicken breast, 2 oz of almonds
2 egg and a cup of egg whites
6 fish oils

probably a lot of calorie, but clean as hell today.

didn't put it in fitday yet

The water and ice cubes are something you have to play with to suit your own tastes

I have to weigh, although I have managed to go to doing it only twice a week now instead of 10 times a day

Yep...you never know what you're getting. The newest batch I bought, I got 2 24oz's and they're both super mushy and taste funky. I want to finish them, but I need to mask the flavor and texture w/ something. So I'm gonna have to use G's shake idea.

I buy those sugar free flavorings in the coffee section. Da Vinci has some good flavorings. A little vanilla in the cottage cheese makes it like... well... lumpy pudding, but it tastes good.

After my workout I have a whey shake. It was water and TruProtein. I have been told to switch over to nonfat milk with it...like that is a problem!

I eat the cottage cheese about an hour later at work.

Not like I especially roast them. I never get sore in my quads, NEVER.

I just snapped a quick back shot in the mirror...sheer luck that it worked at all. You can see where I am leaning out a lot, but also where the majority of my fat is now. down around my lower back and sides. It's coming off though, slowly but surely

Question for Pam: my wife has lost 15lbs in about 6 weeks doing low carb, she is starting to lose hair a little.

Time to stop low carb, right?

I need to help her ease back in to eating at least some carbs. I am going to advise her to eat them only in the morning, not for scientific reasons, but psychological reasons.

Any other advice?

ok, back to work!

I just snapped a quick back shot in the mirror...sheer luck that it worked at all. You can see where I am leaning out a lot, but also where the majority of my fat is now. down around my lower back and sides. It's coming off though, slowly but surely

Excellent Mike, not only are you dropping BF you are gaining muscle at the same time, not an easy feat to do.

You can clearly see all three heads on your delts. Your Brachialis is becoming visible, your Lats are growing that is a given but more impressively your teres mayor is showing through!

That orange is unintentional from my cellphone, I have no earthly idea why, but anytime I take pics in my bathrooms at home, the pics turn out orange.
I am also actually getting tanner, I have been 10 times or so to the tanning booth. still only up to 8 minutes at a time, but I am not in a big hurry, would rather take it slow.

Haven't figured out how to lay in there with my hands behind my head to tan my underarms. I think I am in a smaller tanning bed called a turbo bed right now. Maybe the regular ones have more room. Currently I only have about 3-4" clearance when that thing is shut

Actually my work is off Tropicana - about 3 miles south of the strip
Went on Golds website looks like a few gyms closed and some new ones are opening. I live far northwest and a new one is being built there.

BTW, losing hair is also a thyroid problem. So I'd assume keto is having a similar effect on the endocrine system.

I do know at her physical she had a really good TSH, something in the 1.5 range.

This is exactly what I have done traveling. It obviously isn't as cheap as the carryon way but the last time I tried to get 32 pills x4 days through, I was stuck for 30 minutes in security explaining what all of them were. No joke.

I actually listed 4 days of food when I won't be there that long, so cut the list back 1/4th!

You have to eat to lose, at least that's what I hear.

Hickory smoked is the bomb, although I have developed a taste for the lemon pepper lately.

I am always amazed to hear that men should be able to standing shoulder press their body weight. That is NEVER going to happen for me.

I wonder too if they mean you can drive with your legs. To me it's not a shoulder press if you use anything but your shoulders to get the weight up, but maybe that's just me.

I got my shoulder mass from raises, not presses. I truly believe that.

LOL, 35's? haha, I use 25's. But I can get 130's on the two arm.

I do have a theory, actually formed it last night. I think the 1-arm hits the medial but the two arm hits the long head more. My long head is great, my medial is MIA, I did Tate Presses for the medial last night and found them difficult. I think medial development is the reason.

I am impatient, I guess! I have been 9 times I think...I have lost count. Maybe I will try 9 min today and risk getting burned a little.

I am going to miss a lot next week while in Vegas, unless I can find a booth nearby the hotel

A lot of the hotels have spas and tanning

Well G when your arms have no fat on them, they'll look better and you'll see the peak.

when you finish leaning out they will look good gman. mine aren't peaky cause I have low insertion points too so they are more pill shaped but when I get leaner they look much different. same with my wife, hers get a cool peak you only see when she leans down, I suspect Rich has a higher insertion point which is partly why his look nice and peaky. plus he busts his butt training!!!! it is funny cause all my buds at the gym with high insertion points and great peaks complain about filling in the lower part of the bicep (the gap) which is impossible to fill in below the insertion point and then the rest of us complain we have tubes cause we flex and no peak but long insertion points

I hate being tempted. I am going to plan one cheat on the trip to make me not go insane

i only trained once in vegas, I hope the time off is good for me.

I am 200.0 today so no damage was done out there even though I did not eat the meal plan. I did only eat two meals a day on average.

typical day

huge omelette with cheese, bacon and mushrooms

big salad with turkey, bacon, cheese, and balasamic vinegrette

had one huge meal, yesterday I ate at the breakfast buffet, and it was a gorgefest.

time to really cut now.

Well blu said you looked pretty lean, so I think you're going to be surprised when you get into the 180s. I think you're goal of mid-170s is easily attainable.
