I thought I would bring my journal up here to be with BigDaddyD's.

I started on keto a week ago Monday and it has kicked in pretty well now.

I am 212 on the nose this morning according to my home scale...I am down 11 now since my trip to Mexico in mid August.

My plan right now is to do the following in order to claim both trophy's at the Rx Muscle Arnold competition:

Keep the same training split and do 16-20 sets per session in 4 different exercises...I never do the same exact things 2 weeks in a row:

M-legs
T-chest
W-back
Th-shoulders
F-arms

Note, I do not do any ab or calf work...the good Lord gave me calves so I concentrate on the stuff he did not give me.

Cardio after training, starting at 60 minutes per day. Will do cardio only on weekends both days. Target heart rate of 125-130 for now.

Diet is going well, typical day is:

Preworkout at 6 am: 2-3 eggs and 1 cup of egg whites, scrambled..with hot sauce

Postworkout: 2 scoops of whey and 1.5 tbsp of peanut butter

Meal 3: tuna or chicken, 2 cups of green veggies, almonds or peanut butter depending on what I have around

Meal 4: same as 2

Meal 5: chicken or steak, veggies

Meal 6: same as 2.

taking the following supplements, most at doctor's orders to help with my heart disease risk:

fish oil: 2 capsules 3x a day
vitamin c: 2g a day
CoQ10: 100mg 2x a day
Gluco/MSM: 2 a day
Multivitamin: 1 a day
ZMA: 3 a day
niacin: 500mg 2x a day, slow release
Green tea extract: 1 3x a day

No fat burners for now, but I have some on hand if need them

60 minutes on bike, 124 bpm average heart rate.

I got the impression looking at my lats in the above pic that I am cursed with high insertions. I have no idea though because I have always been too fat to tell...they just look like they come in too high on my back...that will suck. Hope I am wrong.

first time doing them like that...finally found something useful to do with a bosu ball....felt the burn in the upper chest a lot more than when I do them with my palms flat on the floor.

Mike you gonna need someone to take pics for you. Trying to pose/flex while holding a camera is not letting you flex/pose at your best.

Get your wife to take the pic, practice in a mirror until you get the "feel" of the pose and then have her snap the shot.

At least my wife has finally started not rolling her eyes when I don't eat what she fixes...and she is eating healthier. I am rubbing off on her slowly but surely.

The judging will take place on Friday at the Species booth, being judged by a panel of Dave Palumbo's choice. There will be prizes besides the props on the board and the photo/video coverage.

Did back today... 2 scoops of whey before I headed out and a handful of supplements.

BB shrugs with straps: 12/315 8/335 7/365 6/365

Rear delt movement from Dave P video (hard to describe this one): 14/55 and 3 sets of 12/55

Wide grip pullups with straps: 8 8 6 6

Two hand db rows: 10/90 10/90 9/90 8/90 (90 in each hand)

Underhanded inverted rows at smith machine: 8 7 8 8

60 minutes on exercise bike, heart rate of zero (the monitor never picked up my heart rate)..I was sweating pretty good at the end though!

Not feeling it today, really was wiped out during the cardio

Got into the office and had 2 more scoops of whey.

exactly, plus our bodies can do a lot more work on a lot less food than we think...gotta use the mind power to overcome the discomfort.

Right now, it is easy going.

I imagine that by Jan and Feb I will be doing 2-3 hours of cardio a day and probably eating about 1200 calories a day just to lose a lb a week....bring it on, I am not scared

Then later when my body rebels I will add another hour in the evening.

upright rows using 45lb plate
arnold presses
db laterals
front raises using 45 lb plate
db shoulder presses

then 60 minutes on bike at 126 bpm average

am shaking and jittery right now, not in a good way...had coffee before and after training, but it usually does not affect me like this.

I did eat one ounce of peanuts, and the lean body shakes had 9 g of fat each, plus 6 fish oils...hence fat was still 54 g... still a great day.

I will be over 300g of protein if I have 2 more scoops of whey, at only 1900 calories or so.

I did have 2 scoops of whey later last night so ended up

1,884 calories, 56g fat, 52 g carbs, 317 g protein

Today I am going to go do an hour of cardio, but no lifting...my tendinitis in my left biceps tendon is really hurting, so I am glad I have a break for a couple of days from using my arms in training

Going to my daughter's first swim meet of the season this afternoon, should be a lot of fun

I'm at 255 right now. When I had my body comp checked in the spring the girl told me 207 would put me at 5%. I was down to 218 about 4 years ago but have put on a lot of muscle mass in the mean time.
