View Full Version : egg whites question
Since I am going to be eating a lot of egg whites for the foreseeable future, I did a search on liquid egg whites to see if I could buy in bulk on line and save money.
eggwhiteint.com has a 4 gallon special for 112 plus 20 shipping.
way pricier than continuing to buy quarts at food lion...I can get a quart for approximately $5-6, times that by 16 to get 4 gallons and it only comes out to $96, tops.
Am I missing something? Seems like bulk should be cheaper

I just looked at Egg Whites International...it appears theirs is the same price. I dunno. I've always just separated white from the yolk in whole eggs, which is even cheaper!
same website, shadow.
I though 4 gallons online would be a lot cheaper than buying quarts at the grocery store.
One difference might be the online place is pasteurized...in fact, they seem to encourage just drinking the stuff because cooking it kills some of the aminos. Not sure if you can drink the Food Lion ones.

HAHAHAHA, yeaaaaaaaaah, I knew it was the same....
*AHEM* Anyway, yeah, I would look at the carton of the Food Lion ones, and see if they are pasteurized too. If the are, go with them.

do you have anything meaningful to contribute, oh wise moderator, to the O/P's question?
I happen to love chicken breast and egg whites....can't stand pizza and cheeseburgers

I buy my eggs in the 5 dozen box at Super Walmart, Right now they are $5.38. That breaks down to .0896 cents per egg white.
thanks, will check them out...I don't know them by egg white, I know by cup.
1/4 cup = 30 calories

one egg whites is 15 cals so your 1/4 cup is two egg whites.

Eggology.com is great. I used them almost all last year. Convenient containers in different sizes and pastuerized so I would just drink them straight, so I didn't ahve to taste them!! They aren't cheap, close to Eggwhiteint.com but better quality, better containers that are more convenient to use, but pricey bro.

gman, this whole talk of destroying aminos through the cooking process is called denaturation. it applies to all proteins and is acheived when the original bonds that form the protein chains are broken, and thus cant complete the original function of the specific protein. do not be afraid of this. cooking food is one of the smartest things man could have done. its hard to digest raw meat, because your body takes so long just breaking down the chains into your own usuable protein, a step that could have been initiated by cooking in the first place...
