G, heavy is relative. I only use straps/belts when I go really heavy for me. I try not to rely on them too much. Dorian Yates once said something to the effect of "I guess I could squat more if I put a spring in my ass." He was speaking about using knee wraps and suits and a lot of that type of equipment.

well i totally believe in knee wraps
if i lift heavier my legs are gonna grow more
i sink it past parellel though
it protects my knees
but thatz that powerlifting background
i've had knee surgery, nothing to do with lifting
but i know that my knees feel better when i wrap

i do wrap my wrists tight for each set of bench press with 2 1/2 inch tensor bandages every set
and i do use wrists wraps for squats ~ helps me keep my wrists straight when wts really heavy & bars loaded

I DON'T USE SQUAT SUITS OR BENCH SUITS ~ unless you are a powerlifter
i don't agree with them either

BUT FOR BODYBUILDING IF IT HELPS YOU LIFT MORE using wraps, staps, belt etc...
except suits & shirts not for BB
and especially if it protects your body
i think you should use them

especially now, cuz last yr got tennis elbow in both arms
straps help me hold on without using so my much that hurts my elbows

My WO bag looks like something between a Paramedics bag and a PTs bag...velcro rubber belly heat band girdle thingy, lifting belt, dip/chin weight belt, short straps. long straps (sounding more like a dominatrix bag) 2 sizes rubber bands, actual rubber bands, trainers tape...a LOT, bandaids, smelling salts, ashma puffer, xtra hat, dry T shirt, xtra BA and Bamity Bam Bam NO shots and a copy of the Tibetan Book of the Dead (in line with my avitar) and a pic of Peter Finch just in case he shows up in Pitt.

I carry a change of clothes, a water bottle, lifting straps and an mp3 player.

Not enough gear to be elite. Going to have to buy more stuff soon.

I weigh in twice a week because I know weight fluctuates and if my number varies too much I'll adjust my eating. Well today I saw another 3 lbs lost since Monday WTF:confused:. I am eating, a bunch. I weighed 249.75 this a.m. I can tell I am leaning out around my midsection so I don't know. Maybe I'll back off on the cardio. I am currently doing 5 days a week for 30-35 minutes and it's LIC. My heart rate is 110-128. Just fat-burning mode. Hmmmm:dunno:

Seated db press:40x12, 50x12, 60x10, 70x10, 75x8
Leaning laterals:25x12, 30x10, 35x8
Cable laterals:30x12, 35x10
b.o. rear delts:30x12, 35x10, 40x8

how many people carry 1 lbs (x 4) & 1/2 lb (2) plates in their gym bag
i searched for 1 1/4 lb olympic plates
used to be able to get them yrs ago not now
so i had them machined down exactly to the point
cost me like $250 that was yrs ago now
but in Bench press especially for a woman no way you can just 5 lbs a workout
but you can just 2 lbs or 1 lb every week
it's amazing how much stronger you can get
plus too reducing your risk of injury

this taught to me by my 1st hubby who was 20 yr my senior
back when i was 20...

Hey Fitbody, a quick story about Doug,around 79 or 80 I trained at a gym in Grand Prairie and Doug used to come workout there on weekends sometime.I was about 20 at the time and me and a couple other guys drove out to his gym in Brownwood one day to train.Well it was one of those 105 degree days we have in Tx.and Dougs gym wasn`t air conditioned or it wasn`t on anyway Doug was deadlifting and he worked up close to 800lbs and then did rack dls. with what had to be close to 1000.He banged out several sets and was cramping real bad and was tired and hot.I noticed that the gym was unlocked when we got there and no one was there so I asked and he said he left it unlocked. I said aren`t you afraid of getting robbed and he was all bent over and sweating and he just looked up and said " who would want to steal this shit"

our neighborhood is solidly middle class and old fashioned. Big mix of original owners that are about your age, and young marrieds with little kids.

We are an anomlay, 50ish people in this neighborhood.

My wife counted 52 kids when she gave out candy. My daughter has at least 5lbs of candy from going to less than half the neighborhood.
