protein = muscle growth

i don't see where extra calories go about in that simple equation..

Amino acids are the building blocks of protein and protein is the building block of muscle. That's what makes it... so important for growth... where the fuck does calorie come into this ? how does EXTRA or regular calories support scientifically speaking with muscle growth and protein...

so why is there a need for bulking?

you need abundance of calories, as calories are the "fuel" for your body. If you are only eating maintenance or submaintenance you'll never be able to grow. you need over maintenance to grow! just look at someone who diets for a show, they lose some amount of muscle no matter how much protein they consume.

you have a certain baseline that'll keep you right where you are at. Basal Metabolic Rate. Your body uses the calories to keep homeostasis (stat quo). To gain muscle your need more of the "building blocks" available in the blood stream so when it is time to repair, the "blocks" are available. You need more because the body is already using all that it gets and anything above and beyond is gonna use more calories. The same with cutting you need a caloric deficet. which is why except for maybe obese people, you can't cut and gain muscle at the same time.

Fast acting carbs = insulin = nutrient uptake in muscles. That's one part of it.

Muscles also have energy stored in them in the form of glycogen. you don't get that from eating protein.

The complete package requires lots of protein, carbs and fats.
