why is the mac nut considered the better nut, when the walnut has a 1:4 ratio of 0-3 to 0-6 and 10,000 mg of 0-3 per cup, and the macs have a 1:6 and only 276mg of 0-3 per cup, and wal has less sat fat

The quantity rather than the ratio plays a big role in having a balanced ratio in the diet.

Mac nuts just make it easier to maintain a good EFA balance.

Mac nuts contain a lot more monounsaturated fats which is good for hormones.

Walnut oil is much more unstable. It's not good to have large amounts of polyunsaturated fats in the diet. Also the more PUFA you have relative to saturated fats, there is a correlation with lower testosterone levels.

Ideally you want minimal PUFAs with a good ratio and getting enough EFAs. Mac nuts allow you to do this easier than walnuts.

Mac oil is easier to get, you just open the bottle. With Walnuts, you have to press REALLY hard to get anything....or you can just read what Frosty wrote.

well what if the diet was majority of fish oil which is mainly poly with high 0-3, so how do they compare to the walnuts

Most fish oils are mostly monounsaturated.

They also don't have high omega-6 content like walnuts.
