no offense, but that is a terrible idea....The term "Beginner" should NEVER be associated with a body part split style workout. Do a 5x5, as you approach competition level, look at your body and adjust your workout accordingly. But you are going to likely have a LONG while before you have to worry about it....

If you are going to do that type of routine you should just go with a straight Rippetoe split. The "assistance training" isn't really needed as the core gets enough work just doing the big 4 power moves - bench, deadlift, squat, and military press.

Generally I agree most beginners need a whole body routine featuring compund exercises 3-4 times per week for the first 3-6 months. A follow-on push-pull split or upper body/lower body split should round out the rest of the 1st year, when naturals put on 95% of the muscle mass they will gain.
