I don't get the stupid marketing tactics. You can buy a 2lb Isolyze from Dave's site for $42.00 - direct. They put a bogus "regular" price of $57.99, marked down to the incredible low price of $39.99. Wow, a great savings right? Wrong! only $2 cheaper than Dave's.

I'd just as soon order from Dave directly, or pick some up at an upcoming show.

Just check NPC or pro calendar for upcoming events.
It's good to be on the east coast. Lots of local shows to choose from where
Species is a sponsor.

Nope.

Picked up Isolyze, Fiberlyze, and Mac Nut Oil.

I got no deal on the Mac Nut Oil, but I still saved $17.00, plus I got a free shirt and sport bag.

PTB- The suggested retail of Isolyze is $57.99 for the 2lber. Every product has a SRP(suggested retail price). We discount it on the Species site, but we don't discount it as deep as our retailers or e-tailers.

WTF does that have to do with SPECIES, seeing that this is the SPECIES section?!

Finally bought a container of the choc milkshake today and the flavor is very unassuming and pleasant:)

Just got 10lbs of this in yesterday. I went threw about 18lb of the previous version of the vanilla PB.

I have to ask...why on Earth did you guys change the flavor? I mean you guys hit a Grand Slam with the older vanilla PB. Why change it???

This newer version has much more of a pronounced vanilla flavor and not as much of the PB.....I do like the texture better (creamier), but flavor wise it's taken a step or two back IMO.

Still very good, but just not the grand slam it used to be....more like a triple now...lol

BTW for you anal people such as myself.....1 lightly packed level scoop of this Isolyze weighs 22g, not 31g as it states on the label.

This means one lightly packed level scoop has 19g protein, not 27 as it states. So people using 2 scoops of this thinking they're getting 52g protein are really getting 38g.

Just a FYI.

This is not good. One of Species top selling points was the high percentage and amount of protein per scoop. It will be interesting to see how this one is spinned.

What does a lightly filled scoop mean? The scoop size is 31 grams. If there is a void in the scoop when you fill it just shake the scoop a little and you can then add the rest of the powder into the scoop. The yield of the product is 27g of protein in a 31 gram scoop for the Van PB. We are not lying about anything here guys. I will try and have Dave post an assay for the proteins.

I didn't say lightly filled. I said lightly packed.

Meaning get a heap of powder in the scoop, pack down the top lightly so fill in any voids in the scoop, then level it off.

I was getting between 21-22g on a digital scale.

I just sent the request to Dave to post an assay. The scoop is 31 grams though. I always fill the scoop up with powder then press it against the inside of the jug to make sure it is full. I don't have a digital scale but it seems heavier that way. Let me know.

if you've ever seen the scoopers for the genr8 vitargo, those are awesome. you can just scoop it and have it even to the top and its always the right amount. no heavy packing or light packing or whateverrrrrr

That's packed in the scoop pretty good and leveled off.

I first put an empty scoop on the scale and zero'd it out. Then filled, packed, re-weighed.

Sorry my scale is dirty as shit. i noticed this a while ago and i have just been packing my scoop up. the weight of the scoop with protein is 32 grams (probably 31 completely level) minus the 8 for the scoop equals around 23 or so grams of product. impossible for 27 grams of protein to be in 23 grams of product. tell dave to hook it up =)

You guys are very thorough and I love it! All whey proteins are always measured using heaping scoops because the stuff "fluffs up" so much ..........so when I use my 2 scoops pre and post workout, I do 2 heaping scoops of the material. That' will give you a more accurate "weight"!

When our green jugs are initially "filled", the material is up to the rim of the container. By the time I receive the shipment from my manufacturer, there's been significant settling already. Having said that, the powder is still more PUFFY that the scoop can actually measure!

strange shit i must say. whatever i take it because its good shit and it tastes great. btw can you explain the difference between cold filtered whey isolate as opposed to the other systems and why isolyze uses that system? or send me a link to that subject? just curious.

robofsteel
12-08-2009, 12:01 PM
Cold filtered means there is little heat used to remove all the impurities out of the protein.

You got that right Shariff!

I know I'm late to the game, but I finally just got my first container of the Van. P.B. and I really like it. I add my 2tbsp of Natty PB to the shake and it is my twice a day treat. I find that w/out this addition that the PB flavor of the shake it not as "strong" as I would like it to be.

Just my 2cents.

Agreed I like the Cherry Vanilla over the Vanilla PB.
Never had the chocolate or the Vanilla IceCream(or whatever that flavor was that was limited release awhile back)

If I want PB i will just have All Nat PB.
