I don't believe so as some shows don't have a welterweight/bantamweight classes.

All depends on the show how many classes. If only lightweights show up...would they have any other open class? So basically you could walk in and be the only guy on stage for LHW or MW class and win. Is that what you want? Yea you won but dont you want to earn it? So for your first show, look to do a decent one that brings a good turnout. MidAtlantic States is just that, so for the least Im sure you can definately expect a LW, MW, LHW, and Hw class with expectations of possibly even a Bantam and Super Heavy.

From the looks of your avatar your maybe a MW? No telling what your holding from head to toe though.

i love people with their 'technical' answers. ofcourse if no welters show up they wont have a damn class. but to answer the orig poster's question...YES those are the classes....and in bigger shows they have a novice for each of those same weight classes. In smaller shows sometimes Novice is just LIGHTWEIGHT and HEAVYWEIGHT but I cannot recall where they split it.

Bev and Steve's shows - mets, atlantic states, and easterns are usually -

open - bw, lw,mw, lhw, hw, shw
novice bw, lw, mw, lhw, hw
masters - over 35 lw <176.25 - and hw >176.25
Masters over 45 1 class
Masters over 55 1 class

women - lw,mw,hw
masters women - 1 class over 35

Normally they would have the weight classes defined in the show information. If not, you can always email the promoter. The classes listed above are pretty standard, but they will sometimes collapse them into fewer classes based on the distribution of those showing up. This can screw you up if you were trying to be strategic in your target stage weight, but I suppose that is just one of the potential uncontrollable variables in competition. I did a show in 2005 where I was technically in the light heavy FBB weight class, but because of the small number of people who showed up, they put me in the heavy class w/ girls 25 lb heavier than me.

Sassy is right it just depends on how many show for each class, been to plenty of shows were they mixed the Shw w/ the HW because there werent enough contestants. If your a MW or LHW you can pretty much count on there being those classes due to those get the largest turnout(mens)
