The below is an anouncment from hairy about upcoming Nothern Territory show for 2010. Fantastic to see BBs giving back to the sport they love.

Major Bodybuilding Announcement
Ok after some time and negotiating, I am pleased to announce next year’s NPFC-IFBB NT show is on the 2nd of October at the Darwin Convention Centre. This will be a one show format and will have an Overall winner!

Wait for it Outlaw, here it comes... In addition to this show, I will be running my first annual IFBB Elite Invitational Class. This class, as it suggests is an invitational line-up of the best bodybuilders in this country. My vision is to have the top 20 bodybuilders on stage in the same line up. To qualify, you need to have won an Australian title.

If I could take the liberty to add in here a quote from Meataxe from another thread... “'Elite Show'?, an IFBB show that requires you to sign a contract saying you will no longer compete with other federations, but "It's open to all athletes"???, please don't compare this to Mark's real multi-fed elite show...”

There is no contract to sign and an Australian title in both IFBB & NABBA will qualify a person, so that puts all that shit to bed right now at the get-go.

It is however an Invitational. I do not think that an Australian title in a natural fed will cut the grade, but feel free to put forward your case and if the consensus is that that person would be competitive at this level, they will get an invite. I apologise if I have neglected someone of this quality from a natural fed, as I do not follow these athletes. In saying that, give me Nick Jones any day!

Also if someone is clearly of this calibre, but for some reason or another has not obtained an Australian title, please put forward your interest and I will give an exemption if you meet the criteria. Criteria = Quality.

Lastly I would like to open it up to anyone of this calibre in the Asia Pacific region.

While I’m at it, I’m putting up $20,000 prize money for the Elite class. That’s right $20k. To my knowledge that is more than any other Australian amateur show ever before! A decision still needs to be made on the distribution of prize money to the placings. I am aiming to have the Men’s 1st prize as close to $10,000 as I can. TD is checking the IFBB rules for this. Also it can’t be more than what is given to the winner of the Aussie Pro show. That is understandable, as that is the premier bodybuilding show in the country and obviously takes things up a whole new level. However the certainty is that I will put up the $20k pool and there are only 2 divisions, mens and womans. The mens class will no doubt get the bulk of the prize money.

Here is an initial list of men’s invites...

Luke Shembri
James Potter
Logan Robson
Charlie Ducca
Lucky Hatzi
Lui Macel
Justin Wessels
Victor Dimetri
Scotty Goble
Adam Kouzounian
Zane Brophy
Nick Jones
Sam Pappas
Neil Gardner
Sam Ioannidis
Campbell McCallum
Trevor Huni
Tony Sadaati
Komang Arnawa (Bali)

This list will expand as we go and is just a list off the top of my head. It is my dream line-up, but there will be reasons as to why many will not be in a position to prepare this year, as there always is.

I need to stress very clearly that no disadvantage for a non IFBB competitor will happen at my show!!

My vision for this show is geared towards a top 20 of Australia's best in one line-up. It needs to be stressed that to make this top 20 and just be on this stage, you are a champion and have earned much respect to even be there. If you are in the line-up you are the best of the best and you have the balls to go head to head with the best. The placings will possibly go all the way and bragging rights are up for offer. Here is a chance to see where you actually are in the sport with no federation to hide in.

I had made my requests to IFBB Australia to have the 1st place winners of the Men and the Women qualify for the Arnold Classic, but it may be too difficult to meet all the criteria for that. It’s something that is over my head and apparently quite complicated. However I have been offered the possible opportunity to make this a Pro qualifier. This is an outstanding result, but there are a few issues with this also. As you can appreciate the IFBB does not hand out Pro cards like lollies and we are not in the business of giving one to someone who has no interest in using it. In the interests of honesty, from where the IFBB sits there are 3 hurdles to work through. They are...

1. Will the show draw in the quality to deserve a pro card
2. What if Charlie won, what happens? He had a Pro card and handed it back.
3. What if Justin won, but said no thanks, I’m still chasing my Universe title?

Looking at the above names, problem one is solved! I have spoken with most of these names and have a verbal commitment from everyone that I spoke to that for what’s on offer they would love to be a part of it and compete. Rest assured we are working to come up with ideas and if we can sort these things out then we will be moving forward to have this Elite class as a Pro qualifier and will be handing out a Pro card to the winner. This sort of show is what we want for IFBB going forward, but these concerns are real and need to be reasonably addressed.

While I’m at it, of course I will be having our IFBB Pro guest posing at the show as part of the Australian tour. I can tell you at this stage this person has been narrowed down to the 2 best names that I would love to see out here he most. I will leave that announcement up to TD when he is ready.

So to recap...

• NPFC-IFBB NT Championship/Elite show 2nd October, Darwin Convention Centre
• One show format late afternoon/evening show with state title Overall
• $20,000 prize money with as close to $10k as I’m allowed for the 1st place mens
• Possible Pro qualifier handing out winner a Pro card. TBA
• IFBB Pro guest poser

Ok please feel free to openly discuss any ideas to improve this event. I would like to hear of any high standard competitors that you think should be included, as I don't pretend to know it all. Also ladies please throw your names into the ring. Also I would love to hear from any of the above named athletes on what they would like to see the prize pool divided up into.

Now I don't have one cent for this show yet and have a task in front of me to go out and pull in sponsors and pay for it. I back myself to have it done, so please back yourself to get ready and make the trip. I also back Darwin to pull off the biggest crowd you have ever competed in front of.

Oh and last but not least, the best emcee in the country, TD will be up to emcee the show.

If you build it, they will come.

Regards
