SInce I am not at MD anymore thought i would try my journal out over here.

I am a 40 year old guy. I was disagnosed with CKD earlier this year in June, and I am currently awaiting a kidney transplant. So the plan is to lose as much weight and get myself into the best shape possible

here is my split

monday off
tuesday arms and cardio
wednesday cardio
thursday shoulders and cardio
friday cardio
saturday back and chest and cardio
sunday legs and cardio

I know alot of the people here from when they were on MD.

Hope to be able to meet some new people and become comfortable here.

WELCOME! Glad you're here, BIG BRI!
thanks alot Curt.

Thanks Adam. Since i cant see the majority of MD now..i dont know if it is worth it for me to post there. The majority of my posting besides the journal section over there is in Constellation and Playmates journals. And now i cant even see them so i dont know. I appreciate your being a good friend to me Adam thank you.

I got some of the results back from my blood test

my creatinine level went down from 2.90 to 2.50 and my gfr (kidney function went up from 24 to 28.

Also my potassium went down to 4.2.

For the next few days I am going to track my diet fully to see how much sodium I am taking in..because i am very bloated and am retaining a ton of water.

I am on a diuretic Lasik which is supposed to help with the water retention I take 40 mg twice a day.

I have been able to reduce my diabetic meds to 2 pills a day down from 3 and I do not have to take insulin anymore except if i eat alot of high carbs.

my blood sugars in the morning range anymore from low 70s to 90s.

My last hemoglobin a1c was 5.8 which is not even diabetic anymore.

I did not work out last night I was very tired..so i will be trying to workout tonight

This TJ section seems decent, you should do just fine here. There is a few other MD guys who keep threads here as well. I have a Contest Prep journal here.

I am sure a few of the posters here will be familiar with Lasik. ;)

tonight i will be doing shoulders and cardio right after work.

it looks this will be my journal home, as most of the interest and appeal has faded for me from MD. So hopefully i can get to know people like i did over there

My doctor, is trying to get control of my water weight gain so he has upped my diuretic to 120 mg. 80 in the am and 40 in the pm.

Hopefully this will start to help. Still looking for some nutritional help, i psoted something here..but nothing yet. I dont know if my insurance will cover that or not.

that is no where near enough calories to run your body even if you sat still all day.. more like 1/4 of what your body needs to function.. your protein is WAY LOW too.. you have got to eat more you are not doing yourself any favors by starving yourself hun come on,... u know this stuff

i eat twice the amount of cals easy and 4x the protein and im half your size and dieting..

i am going to shoot for 2500 calories.

but, i was told to limit protein because of my kidneys..i just dont know how much I have to limit it?? My doctor couldnt tell me last night and he said I would need to get help from a nutritionalist, but i cant afford that. When i take in large amounts of protein, my kidney is not filtering it and it comes out in my urine.

that is just what i eat while i am at work. When i go home I will have a sandwich or something with protein, then dinner. Last night dinner was spaghetti with 2 sausages.

I am trying hon. this is tough for me to figure out because i cant do the protein shakes, and i have to eat what I have at the house because of the situation

im not trying to be harsh hun just saying hehe i doubt if you raised it to 100g of protein a day that would be very taxing on your kidneys but ask the doctor.. 53 is just SO low especially with low cal and exercise.. you are begging to eat up your muscle instead of body fat. your body at 700ish cals thinks its starving so will slow your metabolic rate as a survival instinct.

Here or there, it's important to keep a journal. I had been slacking - no workouts since December 9th.

Got back in the gym on January 1st. Feedback received in journals is something that really counts.

Don't burn bridges entirely, though. MD is still home to many of your friends. That said, I'm certain you'll develop some great Rx Muscle friendships, too.

I disagree with this statement. While it may seam that very low protein intake would attribute to muscle loss I don't think taking in 53g a day is too few for him and under his circumstances. I think to compensate for this he would need to take in a large amount of carbs to offset the calories and keep his muscles constantly filled with glycogen. Example I take in roughly 450g pro, 300g carbs on a slow cut if I were him I would make it around 50g pro, 700g carbs and it would be the same calories.

make sure they are a registered dietitian.. it will say RD behind their name. it would probably be better to get a referral from a physician.
