Ok Ladies,

I will be glad to start a journal to keep me real in my contest prep this year!! I am training legs today when i get off work and will be back to post the workout.

Ok leg workout

warm up with leg extensions 3 sets of 20 reps 40lb, 60lb and 80lbs just to get blood flowing

smith squats
10 x 135
10 x 225
8 x 275
8 x 275
then i did a power press moveement for a rest pause (this is where I set the stoppers on the smith unrack the bar and squat down until it rests on the stoppers i then squat down to the floor and come back up to the bar and push it up from a dead stop to the top and then down again) I hope that makes sense

this was done with 325lbs the first set was 6 reps then 20 sec rest then 2 reps on the last one you hold the bar and squeeze your quads as hard as possible for a few seconds then rest, 20 seconds later i did 2 more reps like this.

off to leg press for
10 x 600lbs
8 x 700lbs
8 x 700lbs
then added 70 more for the 6,2,2 rest pause workout

smith machine lunges one leg at a time for 3 sets of 10 each leg but oh my god my quads were smoking by these!!!

I then did 3 sets of inner/outer thighs

calfs consisted of a vertical leg press with toes on bottom of platform
this is pyramid exercise

10 x 150lb
15 x 90lbs
25 x 60 lbs
15 x 90lbs
10 x 150lbs

wow, you talk about ouch!!! I did two sets of this and crawled away lol

I am 23 weeks out from the masters and 24 to the usa's. I am currently weighing approx 175lbs with a lean body mass weight at 140lbs I am hoping to be a heavyweight this year but we will see. I all depends on how i look. If i don't look ready at the weight i am then i will get under the lhw cutoff. I look my best shredded and ripped but it seems that the judging has changed and they don't want that look anymore. So.... I am not worried because i have Dave Palumbo on my team doing my nutrition and have always looked my ultimate best every show he has dialed me in for.

Tomorrow is arms and i have improved them alot this off season and am very happy with how they are looking. At this many weeks out last year i did not have the definition i have right now and my shoulders are slightly strippy!!!!! I seem to have held my off season fat in my belly and god knows us women hate that but it is something that is hidden under shirts!!! lol

No she is not cutting just yet. Should be starting after the Arnold.

But now, not only to I have to live with her and listen to her brag all the time, now she has to post her workouts.........I have to cut internet service!!:D

Today should be Arms for Lisa. I will admit, she had really put on some good quality size this offseason. Her arms and shoulders have all come up, but her Freakin back has gotten better...if that was possible...LOL

Wait until she post up some of her chest training.....the last time she did incline DB press she used either the 90's or 95's for her final set. I think some of the people that haven't seen her since last July will be surprised at her progress.

i sooooo agree. i shared my pics with a few this last prep, that was it. claire and i both stressed over it, but still remained friends which was really cool. just do your thang!

facing in on hack squat (similar to sldl)

keep these low and do not come all the way up to keep the tension on hamstrings the whole time

Day off today yeah!!! but have to take nephew to gym to go over this form in the gym. He is on the football team and says there is no one in the gym watching these high school kids train!!!! wow!! We are going to correct some stuff since he complained of hurting his neck doing good mornings.

wow...you have some impressive workouts..sorry to sound like everyone else lol. but damn..you are strong!

are you one of the luck ones who dont have to do a whole lot of cardio at the end of prep? or do you have to do the dreaded, up to almost 3 hrs a day. just wondering. it seems u never have a problem with conditioning.

i would say my back is my stongest bodypart and i have been working on bringing up my outer sweep on my quads and building denser glute muscles. Usually i have a ass in the off season and then it disappears on show day lol I have trained with my hubby but currently i am working out with a trainer that is doing the same show i am so we have similar goals, which helps alot and it is sometimes easier to workout with someone other than your hubby (if you know what i mean, lol) I can't tell this guy to shut up or not be so hard on me. lol We do alot of training similar to to the dc style but just different. My husband and i did the dc training last year and i got awesome results to that. I am so excited to see dave and Colette at the arnold to show them the improvements i have made in this off season!!! I am looking forward to the show this year and hope to be in the top 3!!!

Hey!!!! Those Hammer Strength Rows were actually the Hammer Strength DY Row, not the regular seated hammer strength rows. these are just a little harder and don't want you to sell yourself short!!

Yeah, I can finally hear out of my right ear!!! I went to the gym today and did some back and chest to catch up with my workouts. I am doing legs tomorrow and arms on saturday. I had to get rid of the ear issue before i can fly to the arnold on thursday. Everyone i talked to said that if i had tried to fly with such a bad sinus infection i would be really sorry. I was going to ride with someone or drive if i could not get this better. The doc gave me some flonase and cough med with codeine!! So i should be great by the time it comes to fly. I will update my leg workout tomorrow night.

hope everyone is doing great and I also found out they are giving two pro cards at the masters this year. over 35 overall winner and the over 45 overall winner. that is awesome!!!

yes we do!! omg when you get to the rep 8 to 21 it sucks because the first 7 get the blood pumping and then dropping the weight and really squeezing at the top on the final reps really gets a great burn and it has helped me a ton!!! You should try sometime for something different??

We trained shoulders and hamstrings yesterday and it was great!!
I am working on bringing up my rear delts and the hard work is showing. My hamstrings are pretty sore today too.

I am training back and traps today so I will run down that weight and rep program tonight when i get home.

Tuesday we will do chest and that will be it for me since we fly out on thursday for the arnold classic. It is sometimes hard to get a good workout in while gone but there is a lifetime fitness across the street from our hotel!!! They charge 10.00 a day to train. See everyone at the show!!!

8 x 50lb these were done with wide stretch at bottom and then turning the db's were your pinky fingers meet at top

We finished off workout with a german volume training for biceps to work on mine for shows this year

10 sets of 10 cambered bar with a wide grip and we used a 40lb bar. I know it doesn't sound like much but we had only enough time to rest while our partner did his set so it was maybe 20 to 30 secs in between sets. wow i should have measured my arms that day for records lol

legs tomorrow and looking forward to it!!!

this is day one of diet and cardio!!

prot/veg and 45 mins of cardio this am and it felt great!!

and before i get the smack down from thundergod i did not explain the last set of squats with 405lb. What we do is set the stoppers on the machine where my full squat is and then in the movement we unrack at that top, squat to the stoppers and then holding on the the bar squat all the way to the floor, then come back up to meet the bar to then blast it up from a dead stop!! At the top you squeeze your quads and then go down for another rep. Hopefully that makes sense. lol

sorry guys, first week of dieting and trying to get my routine down with food etc. Blondie, I did receive and it is AWESOME!!! can't wait to wear in my photo shoots this year!!!

Week 1 went great!! I lost 4 pounds and dave did not change anything with my diet or cardio!!

I worked legs today and it was a great workout did some smith squats wide stance ss with close stance deep squats on the cybex squat machine. then did a drop set on the leg press did sets of 10 with 10 plates close and then ss with wide stance on leg press wide sets of 20. finished with walking lunges yippee!!! we also worked calfs today too.

I get off tomorrow from weight training. Cardio in the am and then getting my nails done after work!! i am not a shopper but i have got to have my nails look nice and i go every 2 weeks. I hate to think how much i have paid my nail tech since i have been going to her for like 15 years!!!

My hubby is working a 72 hour shift from yesterday to after tomorrow. I miss him but the overtime is money that is impossible to pass up since i compete and we have the costs to cover for flights and hotel etc. I had a awesome cheat meal saturday!!! We went to a favorite Maggianno's Italian place here. I was craving pasta for some weird reason. I don't eat many carbs anyway. but it was great and had a huge piece of chocolate cake for dessert!!! yummy!! So back to diet yesterday until this coming saturday when i get another cheat meal. it will probably be pizza this time. I have to get all of my favorites out of the way before they are gone for awhile. Last year i lost them at 6 weeks out. So we will see what happens this year.

Wednesday will be arms so stay tuned i will post workout and updates etc. I promise to be better on posting asap lol

Ok, we did shoulders and hamstrings today

smith machine for press behind the head
3 sets with final one being power presses
then 3 sets in front of the head

side laterals 3 sets on a machine this time

rear delts on the cables 3 sets
db front raises with a twist!! 3 sets
single cable side raises 3 sets

warmed up on the hamtractor

single leg on press high on platform for hamstring action
rev hack squat working up to 6 plates total
negatives on the leg curl machine

wow, my shoulders are pumped and hammys are going to hurt tomorrow!!

tomorrow is back and a little tricep work

I have to do pics on saturday and check in with dave to see what is in store for the next week!!

sorry for the delay guy's but had a great chest workout today. I did a superset with hammer strength incline with db flyes and then hammer strength decline to finish off with cable crossovers. We did our german volume training today for biceps with preacher curls with cambered bar on the cables for a constant tension on the muscle. this included 10 sets of 10 reps at 70lbs.

I got great news from dave. the reply from my pics sent at 16weeks out came back with PERFECT PROGRESS and he did not change anything!!!! yeah!! exciting.

Tomorrow is leg day and then off weight training on tuesday and just cardio

Ok leg day is done and i am at home resting!! We start with warm ups on the leg extensions for 3 sets of 15 to just get blood moving in the quads.

smith squats wide stance butt to ankles
superset with cybex squat close stance and kept them low and constant to burn the booty

10 x 225 smith ss 2 plates on cybex for 10
3 sets like this

then leg press close stance superset a different leg press wide stance

10 x 10 plates (45lb) total ss with 20 x 4 plates

then walking lungess with db for about 20 steps then for 20 more steps doing diagonal lunges a total of 2 trips doing these and omg i thought my legs would buckle under me lol

OK, in Lisa's defense for not posting her back workout, she was on her way to get the food when I got a call for an accident on the highway. She said she could see it from the on ramp to another highway. Anyway, she had to eat her cheat meal by herself but did bring my food to the station where she watched me eat like a pig and spent a little time just hanging out with us....(since I'm not allowed to be in her gym anymore...LOL) She left the station around 9pm and came home so she could be well rested to get up at 4am and do her cardio. So it was my fault that she did not post her back workout.

Ok the back workout was killer!!! and so was the cheat meal!!! yummy!!!

6 sets of pullups we do wide, close and then use a close grip bar and wedge it on the pullup bar to do the final 2 sets that way

3 sets of t bar rows
3 sets of rev grip hammer pulldowns
3 sets of seated rows on machine but using the single handle bars you usually use on cables to change the angle of the pull

then we did 10 sets of 10 seated cambered bar extensions for triceps

5 sets of 10 x 70
5 sets of 10 x 60 and oh my god my triceps are screaming today!!! I have chest tomorrow so we will see how strong i am!!

The cheat meal alone did suck but it is the nature of his job and it was ok. It made me probably eat less cause we split everything but the cake. we each got our own piece. I did have to add 10 mins to my daily cardio. I only lost one pound last week!! oops but that is ok. I will do much better this week.

Arms today and god i need to improve here.

started with triceps using thick v bar and then on knees

5 sets
10 x 80 lbson single cable pulley

5 sets of db extensions using both arms and lying on the floor, we had to touch them to the floor along side of your head and then extend up like a hammer!! make sense omg these are hard

10 x 30lbs

biceps

cambered bar gripping wide

5 sets of 10 with 60lbs preset bar

5 sets of 10 body drags at 80lb preset bar

10 mins of stepmill for final cardio

only cardio tomorrow and day off of weights but will do shoulders and hamstrings on friday. I am liking my results so far and i am sure this hard work will pay off!!!

Sorry Tammy, the 21's for side laterals are pick a weight and do 7 reps full range up then do 7 reps mid range and the final 7 reps are low range. I would then do the next set the opposite starting with low range up the full range of motion. These are a killer and did not do alot of weight either. NICE PUMP!!!

Did get some bad news yesterday. I have another small hernia in my abdominal wall near my belly button. Doc says i can wait to have surgery. I will do my shows this year and then have it repaired. The last surgery was 2 years ago May and they used a inch and a quarter piece of mesh but looks like it wasn't big enough. So keep your fingers crossed that i look ok for the shows this year!!! I think it will just be a bump and hopefully that is it.

I want to wait a few months even after my shows since that is the best time for our bodies to build good quality muscle being in such a depleted state. I want to take advantage of that time also. what do you think?

Once your shows are over with, set up the appointment with the doctor and get it done. Just give it about 4-6 weeks after the show so you can get some benefit out of your "rebound" and then you will have some time off to recover....and eat peanut butter Oreo cookies, Reeses Peanut Butter cups, Peanut Butter ice cream...Do I need to go on??? Hello, Well, i had a awesome cheat meal last night with my hubby and parents for mothers day since i had to work today. A nice cheeseburger, fries and peanut butter shake. I know my hubby will also tell i had a really great oreo dessert as well. So with these carbs i had a great shoulder and hamstring workout today. Dave says i am on track and added cardio so things are going as planned. I have never looked this good this far out so hopefully that means that this year is going to be amazing!!!

I think you had a 10-12 oz burger with all the goodies on it, a nice big peanut butter cup shake, fries/onion rings/ and then that big ol' Oreo Cookie dessert. I don't have a way of posting that pic of my burger on here, but I'm glad I went with the 14oz instead of the 20 oz burger.

At 10 weeks out, Lisa continues to get stronger in the gym. It's great to see her lifting more than some guys in the gym. I watched her do 185 lbs for 6-8 reps on seat front shoulder press which I think is about the best she has done. Hopefully she can continue to improve each week and go kick some ass at these shows this year.

Tammy, I asked Dave and he said that I will compete at whatever weight i look my best at so i really don't know?? Last year i had to sit in the sauna to make lhw so who knows this year. If i do compete as a hw then that would make my bodybuilding career where i have competed in every weight class possible since 2001!!! Started out in 2001 at 107lbs!!!

After seeing what happened to some of Lisa's friends when they posted pics, she has decided not to post any. It seems like when people post pics, it turns into a bit of a pissing match. Not to mention, people want to "promote" one athlete over another and try and choose a winner before the show even starts. That is just a sad fact of the internet these days and I feel it is unfair to all athletes.

It is tough for women to compete in the sport of bodybuilding, they work just as hard if not harder than men do and get little respect for their hard work. So when women post progress pics, it seems like an open invatation for the "negative" people to come out of hiding.

I now a lot of women post progress pics to either keep themselves on track or to motivate others which is commendable and in some cases, needed. I have seen pics of some people and their progress and have been supportive and impressed with most of them, but, like I stated before, when women are posting progress pics as they are prepping for a show, people try to pick the winner and looser before the show starts and it is not only unfair to the athletes competing, it does an injustice to all women who want to be judged fairly at these shows.

I have a lot of respect for female bodybuilders and would like to see them judged fairly on the stage and not in a forum. All of you women should be proud of what you have accomplished and should want to be judged on show day and not weeks before.

Enough with my ramblings. Best of luck to all that will be competing this year.....And yes honey(2hot4u,) that includes you..LOL

awww thanks buddy, I can't wait to vegas either!! We are going to have so much fun!!! I have to take you to the "hash house a go go"!!! I heard about this place from sallyanne and omg it is everything she said it would be and more!!! Of course that will have to be sunday or even monday morning depending on how many photo shoots i have to do sunday. lol But, it will be one place we have to go!!! You have got to go try the peanut butter cup shake!!! it even comes in the cold silver blender cup they make it in!!!!

This coming weekend we are attending a wedding reception the night of my cheat meal which is good because the place they are having it in is the same place we had our own wedding reception and the food is amazing!!! Not to mention WEDDING CAKE my favorite next to carrot cake of course lol

ok enough about food, I get fats tomorrow so i am extremely happy!!!

After seeing what happened to some of Lisa's friends when they posted pics, she has decided not to post any. It seems like when people post pics, it turns into a bit of a pissing match. Not to mention, people want to "promote" one athlete over another and try and choose a winner before the show even starts. That is just a sad fact of the internet these days and I feel it is unfair to all athletes.

It is tough for women to compete in the sport of bodybuilding, they work just as hard if not harder than men do and get little respect for their hard work. So when women post progress pics, it seems like an open invatation for the "negative" people to come out of hiding.

I now a lot of women post progress pics to either keep themselves on track or to motivate others which is commendable and in some cases, needed. I have seen pics of some people and their progress and have been supportive and impressed with most of them, but, like I stated before, when women are posting progress pics as they are prepping for a show, people try to pick the winner and looser before the show starts and it is not only unfair to the athletes competing, it does an injustice to all women who want to be judged fairly at these shows.

I have a lot of respect for female bodybuilders and would like to see them judged fairly on the stage and not in a forum. All of you women should be proud of what you have accomplished and should want to be judged on show day and not weeks before.

Enough with my ramblings. Best of luck to all that will be competing this year.....And yes honey(2hot4u,) that includes you..LOL

It was at 4:45 am and i don't go into work until 6 a.m. The lady was ok but shook up. This totally uncommon in the area where my gym is. We are going to a conceal and carry class this coming saturday. I am really a little nervous since i have not had alot of experience with handling guns at all. I did however go to the range sometime ago with my husband and friend and I guess it was beginners luck but i hit the target smack in the forehead more than once!!!

It seems like with the economy the way it is that people are doing more and more crazy things and i don't feel it is going to get any better soon. We all have to protect ourselves and i hope to god I never have to use this bday present!!

Good for you, I think everyone should have the right to protect themselves...you are not alone in your feelings about the way things are going. I feel lucky I am not closer to the city.

Hi everyone, Well my pics to dave was good so no changes this week!!! I am getting really excited for the show to get here. I have been working on my routine and posing. I have to get my photo shoot clothes together for i am shooting with james cook on sunday after the show!! I still have to book some for the usa's and hope to do some at the mansion that everyone talks about!!! I took yesterday off weight training to get some much needed house work done and feel like i did pretty good considering that i usually feel like just sitting on the couch or searching the web lol and today it is arms and of course cardio that is a everyday thing. up to 110 mins a day which i split up into 2 sessions. Today i had to get up at 1:45am to do 70 mins and had to be at work by 4:30am yippee and then i will do 40 mins later after weight training. That is one thing i don't miss after the shows is cardio. I don't mind 20 or 30 mins a few times a week but the 2 sessions everyday is getting old and only 5 plus weeks to go i am on the home stretch!!! I am so glad that my last show is in vegas and i have got on my plans to have breakfast at one of sallyanne's favorites "hash house a go go"!!! OMG this place is the best ever!!! If i have photo shoots sunday then we are going monday morning for sure!!! not to mention the buffets lol

well, i better get some work done or my boss is going to kick me. lol

Trained shoulders and hammy's today and had a great workout!! i had a bump in the road for my diet yesterday. :( I get one day of fats and over did it and of course am beating myself up bad for it. Then, today i had 3 people say that they thought i looked leaner!!! wow that was cool. I have gotten my head back on straight and back on track. I am not one to eat something totally off my diet but i do have trouble with my fats, I love pb and nuts and at times the other person that lives inside of me takes over. lol

don't worry i am bringing the best package i have in 5 weeks!!!

Thanks Claire, some days are better then others. but i will make it!! I got 10 more mins of cardio so that is now 120 mins a day!! whew! i split it up into 3 sessions starting this week to make it better for my sanity. I am going to have to work on tighten up my glute and hammy tie in but being a woman this is the area that always seems to come in last!!! I have legs today so i will be doing some walking lunges and deep squats!! lol

Getting close!

We will briefly be in st Louis. We are drving from home (chicago area) to st louis saturday. Staying in Maryland hsights at the drury inn on dorsett and having bandanas bbq (when we are in town longer we train at the golds on dorsett) Sunday AM we drive out to Rolla drop off chritine at Missouri u of science and technolody then drive back to chicago. Not any time for fun we will have the dogs with us or we would have made it a longer trip.

I noticed the AVI change and had to come in here to tell you how good you look!

I bought an iPod touch for prep so I can watch movies while I do cardio. I used it today for the first time and an hour went by so fast I couldn't believe it. I've also learned to read while cardioing - whatever it takes to get the time to go by.

Well the cardio is low intensity so that is like walking on the treadmill and it just goes back to the drive to succeed and do your best. The nutrition gets hard based on how your body responds. If you have some fat still to get off in the end then it is going to be a little tougher and requires more focus. I have a few more days to go and it is show time so here we go!!!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes. I am down to the final stretch!!! I did my last leg workout yesterday and from here on out it will be flexing and posing them not to mention cardio!! yippee I am so looking forward to being on vacation as well. I am taking off the 2 weeks to complete the two contests i have applied for so it starts next wednesday the 15th to the 29th!!! I am also competing at the usa's and that is also going to be a blast to be in vegas!!!!! I have two friends going with us too!!! They are staying on the strip and we will be at the host hotel but we have plans!!! I have a photo shoot with mike from Physique Art, Inc. and that is going to be fun!!! Then we have got to take our friends to a place that sallyanne turned me on to for breakfast named "Hash House a go go" wow is this place good!!!!! You have got to check it out. I plan on being there either sunday morning or right after my shoot!!! lol

sorry for not keeping this more updated but the prep gets away from you sometimes and have to just focus on getting thru the day. Wish me luck for the next two weeks and i will be back soon :wavey:

Well, it is monday and i have one more day to work and then vacation for 2 weeks!!! I get my hair, nails and feet done on wednesday and we fly out on thursday for pittsburgh. Weigh ins are that evening and then prejudging is saturday at 9am. Friday is for relaxing and getting color done etc. I am excited i might even get some white rice in my load this time around!!! We have to see how i look on thursday so i will bring it but may not get to eat it. so we will see.

I am excited and nervous. You never know who all is in your class and how good they look. It is all up to the judges now. So I will keep you all posted before i take off.
