I love this place! It is one of the few things I TRULY miss about Michigan.

Lenda Murray once called this place home, and so did Ron Love. Many other greats passed through their doors at one time or another. They have had a little bit of a remodel, and have an updated cardio area, but the weight pit is where this place REALLY shines. If memory serves me correctly, there are a pair of 200lb. dumbbells there, and more equipment than any one person would ever need. The place is huge, and although this is 2010, there is still that late 70's/early 80's feel to the place... the time when everyone there gave a damn, because they actually do. Powerlifters, bodybuilders, and strongmen train here. The location might not be the best place (Highland Park), but it is worth it. I spent the better part of my years in Michigan at this place.

I highly recommend it.

This is where I train. Great gym.

GX - they still have the 200s but one is broken.

You from around here? (I am in Royal Oak.)

HAHAHAHA!!! So it finally happened. One of them was hanging on for dear life when I was there.

I never would have guessed that 12 and Evergreen would close. When I first moved to Michigan back in 2001, that was the one I was going to (living in Southfield at the time). Once I moved inside of Detroit, that is when I started going to Highland Park.

I hated that Viking Gym closed, because I actually would have gone there almost exclusively. Talk about a hole in the wall place... that was definitely it! I only went in there twice.
