Been sick for 4 days, that was after taking 4 days off because of business travel.
BW 164

Shoulders, chest, back and biceps for high reps, 15 sets total. Out of breath, sweating like crazy but it felt good to move some iron and fill up the muscles.

Treadmill 15 minutes.

Three steps back... move forward.

Thanks Lorrie. I am starting to feel normal. That will teach me to take time off from the gym for business.

I haven't been hungry at all for the last 4 days and today I have a major appetite.

Geez, I am on a fuckin' roll here. Picked the wrong time to buy 50 shares of Apple stock. Down almost 11%

Well I was 3 steps back, now it's like 4.

Record profits, record sales of iPhones and iPads and they miss Wallstreet's earning forecast and now this shit. It seems I can't win this week. Hopefully they [Apple] have something up their sleeve.

Took it easy on the legs. Slowly ramping the volume and weight upwards again.

Instinctive laziness, eh! One arm PDs are great for stretching the lats, and you have to do them so you're not using your arms. I had a massive pump after doing tonight's workout.

Stop back to visit more often Big Spear and find more genuine excitement!

Thanks. I was nuts before I ever started bodybuilding and why stop a good thing, eh?

You can turn your leg while doing the hypers and it hits different parts of the hamstrings and glutes.

I've got to say thanks to Mac too for giving me the idea of doing one arm pulldowns. It's an awesome movement, I do it first in my back workout because of the great stretch!

Glad you like the one armer pull-downs. They really do stretch the lats when you concentrate on not using your arms.

Eight sets of 20 reps man I can't hardly do 4 sets of 20. I'm using what I consider a heavier weight for me @360 lbs. Great work!

I don't use really heavy weight for the higher reps. So I make up for it with volume.

8 sets of incline presses - only exercise I can do without pain in my shoulder 12-15 rep sets
4 sets of DB chest fly - another short workout but productive

Dropped shoulders to give time for recovery. Last workout tweaked it again! @#$@#$#

sorry to hear about the shoulder mine is bitchin too because of the inactivity for so long have you tried spider stretches w small bands? seems to help some

The shoulder has been ongoing for several months and NOTHING has helped. So instead of working around it, I decided fuck it and been training them harder. That hasn't helped either.

My biggest problem is sleeping and that's when it hurts the worst, after waking up.

No, I haven't. My health insurance is very basic as I am self-insured. I hate doctors and would rather live with the discomfort than have them do something invasive like cut it open.

Deep Tissue Massage? Just tell me to shut the hell up if your sick of hearing that one from me..!!! LOL My gal is very good at finding those knotted up and/or irritated areas as well as breaking down things....hurts like a #)$*#@)$..... but, it works!

I have had MUCHO success with lil "tweaks" and hot spots going that route and then using my roller.... BUT, have to admit....haven't quite figured out how to adequately hit my delts from all angles with the roller... TAKE CARE - Love your Badass delts!!!

Reason I do this, Steve, is just to know exactly what I am dealing with.....MRI.....then I go about doing what I think is best, not necessarily what the doc says.........surgery would absolutely be the last resort

It's the cost of the MRI that is not covered by my insurance plan. It's about $2800. Most of my pains end up going away on their own. This one is not, yet!

I just need to pay more for better insurance.

Most of my delt problems center around how I sleep, which is mostly on my stomach with my arms above my head. I have been trying to sleep more on my left side and cannot sleep on my back. Pulling the sheets over with my right arm is a no-no and it really sets off the shoulder. Need a separate blanket really since someone hogs it all the time.

Did you all get much snow down there?

We got a nasty sheet of icey mess topped with about 5" of snow.....yesterday morning was "quite the commute" in to work....but, by PM roads were all clear........ SOOOOOOOOOOO ready for some warm sunny spring skies!!!

Chest - Lats BW 172 - seem to be holding there. Eating a lot more foods. Was inclining 225 for 8 reps, haven't done that in a very long time and no shoulder pain from those. Couldn't do dips however, not a single one, those fukin hurt.

8 sets inclines pyramid 120 reps total
4 sets of DB flies
4 sets of pullovers
3 set flat bench
4 set wide grip pull downs

Thanks MG. My nutrition is nothing special, regular family food and some protein shakes here and there. Love my peanut butter and jam sandwiches after working out. Pizza once a week and toaster strudels when I need a sugar blast.

3-4 meals a day. Calories? I have no idea.

You made me hungry typing this.

Sucked that it took a day and a half to finally get my luggage. It's freaking hot hot hot here and thank God for the ocean's cool breeze. And air conditioning.

No iron, no gym here off the beaten path. They don't even have signs that mark the road or use addresses. Our address here is 300m west of Super Wendys and 100m north. WTF is that. I don't want to tell you how many times I was lost as the rental car's cigarette lighter doesn't work, so no GPS either.

If the crocodile's don't bite off my hands tomorrow on the river tour and there are no monkeys on my back, I will be OK.

Today's workout was Kayaking in the Pacific Ocean. My lats, shoulders and triceps were so pumped the people on the catamaran with us noticed and made comments, all good, which made this old man's day.

In Costa Rica the cattle walk the streets, the locals will tell you stories of running into them like we run into deer. The picture of the horses on the beach almost looks like a photoshopped picture the way they were standing.

San Jose CR, is NOT a place I want to visit, however. CR is like the US was back in the 60s, with the addition of internet and cell phones. Lots of dirt roads, absolutely no street signs of any kind, even on the major roads.

Supermarkets are everywhere, as are restaurants, which sometimes will charge you the gringo tax. I was ripped off buying two cups of coffee, gave them the equivalent of $20 in their currency which is 10,000 colones. I didn't get any change and of course my spanish sucks as did her understanding, or ignorance of English. What was I to do?

The locals will hide in the trees on the beaches waiting for someone to place their valuables and walk to the water, only to come back to nada. We didn't experience this, but I didn't give it an opportunity to happen.

Ticos, overall are very nice, happy, religious and accommodating people. Their society is formatted by their culture.

I have started a diet and stopped force feeding myself. Didn't like what I saw in the mirror and want to resemble a bodybuilder with my shirt off. So i dropped about 500 cals a day and added a little cardio to start going the other way.

Shoulder is doing better but I am reminded of it doing certain movements, like reaching over and pulling the bed sheets back with my right arm will set it off.

I started doing these because of an imbalance I had in my right side from injury last year. Strength has come up considerably and it's a better alternative to placing a heavy plate to increase resistance.

If you rotate your foot, it will change allow you to hit the inner adductors vs. the hams. Great for lower back and glutes.

treadmill doesn't bother me, but HEAVY deads are out of the program!!.......Can still go pretty heavy on squats with no problem, but deads wreck my lower back if I am not EXTREMELY careful....only do rack deads now from mid shin level.

Looks like your shoulder issues have pretty much cleared up, Mac. That's a tough delt routine!

It's still not 100% and there are certain movements I can still feel the injury. I cannot do dumbbell inclines but have no issues doing barbell inclines.

Reaching backwards and pulling the bed sheets back over causes me the most grief. I might be overlooking the real problem here, the person stealing my covers.

Lats - 163lbs got a new digital scale for home and I don't know how it compares to the one I been using which was a medical balance scale.

one arm pulldowns 4 sets 60 reps
widegrip lat pulldowns 5 sets 65 reps
dickersons 4 sets 50 reps
seated rows 4 sets 45 reps

2 sets abs 200 reps

Summer is a busy time.

Still working on getting lean. Down to 161 according to my scale at home.

Shoulder has improved and now a first ever tricep injury. Trying to use too much weight without warming up. It's fine with lighter weights and feel like a hot poker sticking in me at the elbow.

So I used considerably less weights, more reps and concentrated on the squeeze. Man they are f'n sore as hell. They NEVER get sore, until now.

BW 160 Circuit style training - one exercise after the other, high reps 20-50 reps at a fast pace.

15 different exercises in 30 minutes.

Gym was like a sweat box as the air conditioning wasn't working. Looking bigger and losing weight! Smoke and mirrors.

Training is going well. Down another 1lb. Shoulder problems are ALL gone! - Still having the hip and lower back issues stemming from working in the yard and bending down too much, I guess. Only one cure for that! Do more of it.

I just hope it's not arthritis like my brother, mother and uncle all developed in their backs.

Thanks Paul. The only way to fix is injury is to continue training it, albeit the right way. I think the foam roller was very helpful and continuing to train thru the pain, it eventually disappeared.

It's been a long time since I could overhead press 215 in the smith machine for 6 reps and one of my favorites, dips! That's doing dips with an actual ROM where my hands are touching my shoulders at the bottom of the rep going real deep. I can surely feel that this morning.

Yes, I believe it's true. It certainly didn't go away on its own. I babied it for too long and then said 'f' it and endured the pain of training it, to get some blood in there and it worked!

Now, it will probably be something else to go wrong, but at least that's out of the way.

Last night, I was able to press my bodyweight of 160lbs. for 10 reps, so that ain't too bad for an old geezer!

Blasted chest and shoulders today. Felt great to not have a nagging shoulder injury keeping me back. Must keep things under control and not injure it again.

Workouts are going well, and I continue to slowly lean out. I am starting to feel hungry all the time.

Now that my shoulder is healed I can return to doing real squats with a barbell. I did just that two days ago and did 7 sets of 12 reps - ass to the ground and holy fuck, did it feel good. Endorphins just whizzing through my body, from simple ass squats. I didn't use a lot of weight because I had reason to walk today, as I had to cook on the BBQ.

Now to slowly add the weight back while keeping to deep full ROM and not get carried away and injure something, again. That's the plan anyway.

My legs are sore but I am ready for more endorphins.

Last night, to my amazement, the stolen bodyweight scale has reappeared in the gym. It's hard to believe a scale that was stolen would find it's way back home.

Had a great chest workout, now that I can actually bench press without pain. Not doing much in the way of logging my workouts lately as I've been busy working and when I am on here it's been to whack hundreds of spam messages. That finally was fixed.

Tonight will be legs, squats for 10x10 as I move up the weight another 10lbs on each side. I could do much more, but I am concentrating more on form, feeling the muscles and going below parallel.

Here is a real pisser. Went to the 24x7 gym and it was closed. Don't know if it is closed for good but this is the first time it's not been open in 4 years. Fuck me if I have to go find another gym as there aren't that many around. There is a PowerHouse gym about 15 miles away that I may have to join. My current gym is only 2 miles away and it's perfect.

Time to break out the home gym consisting of 5 sets of dumbbells until it is resolved or I find a new gym. Makes it difficult to train.

LOL - I get in trouble speaking my mind! I will hold back now though.

I don't expect resolution anytime soon and I will be checking out the PowerHouse gym 12 miles away for a temporary membership. This owner takes 3 weeks to fix a broken cable on a machine. He offers a double extension for the time closed at the end of your contract, WTF good is that? Oh, I don't have one because if I did, it would be 2yrs for the prices of ONE vs. twice the price I paid. That was a real kicker.

Steve....I love training at Powerhouse down here....by far, the best gym I have been in for both equipment AND atmosphere....don't know anything about yours but I think you should check it out....BTW, I drive 25 min to get there...it is 20 miles from me, but worth it.

I may be doing that soon as the gym has not opened up. The problem is, if it does, I will still be in a contract. Don't think you can just join this PH gym without a yearly membership.

Guess I have been spoiled with the gyms always being so close.

I have been coming up with new exercises to use my 20,25,35, 45 and 60lb DBs, which is all i have here at home. Getting great arm and shoulder work outs but legs and chest are suffering.

I found a great 24x7 fitness center about 9 miles away with excellent free weights and machines. It's a huge place with many other things besides weights. Their prices are not published so I have to go there and check it out tomorrow.

Sounds good Mac! The gym business is changing here in my town also. Planet Fatness has cut into the market with their cheap membership no contract rates. Anytime Fitness just closed its doors. Luckily my gym is under new management and with Anytime closing it should help them.

I went back to check on the status of the gym. Everything is gone!

Found out they were closed by the health department because of mold in the ventilation from the leaking roof.

The good news is they have a new location and it's bigger and better than the older one and not too much further away.

The old gym that moved hasn't opened yet and assume it will be ASAP as I am sure they want to start billing people every month. They suspended all payments two weeks ago. Actually, I am wondering if that is true as there have been some shady practice by this company with some Bally's fitness centers they have taken over.

Getting antsy to use some real weight for chest, back and legs.

But I have been getting some great shoulder and arm workouts in.

The gym saga continues. Someone is not telling the truth. I went by the 'old gym' and there are bigs signs ' under new ownership ' and Opening soon 24x7 Fitness.

How could a new business go in where there was supposedly a mold problem?

Seems like they basically kicked the old tenant out and moved a new one in.

I just hope it opens soon.

Still plodding along without a gym. My workouts at home consist of high rep movements with dumbbells.

Try this at home - grab a dumbbell 1/3 of your bodyweight and see how many reps you can get doing a press. I am up to 50 reps at 50lbs. I used to do this years ago and remember getting 80 reps with this 50lb dumbbell. Got a ways to go to get back to that, but then again, that was 25 years ago. I am doing the same thing with one arm concentration curls where I got 18 reps with 50lbs.
