So the 3 events today are in this order. 875lb frame. 366lb axle. 2 min time limit and the deadlift. No suits allowed. Breifs and straps are allowed. Here is the order of athletes for the frame. The rest of the order depends on how they place for the rest of the comp. Btw the athletes picked numbers out of an envelope. 1 pfister. 2 poundstone. 3 pekanov. 4 siders. 5. Koklyaev. 6 ortmayer. 7. Murumets. 8. Ostlund. 9. Katona. 10. Blekaitis.

So the order of events for saturday are the stones. Athletes pick their weight from a 420. 460. Or 529. 4lbs heavier from last year. Loaded about 47 inches. Then the 1116 lb yoke. And finally on the main stage sat night the 202 lb dumbbell! 90 seconds to get as many reps possible

hehe i saved everyone the trip to marunde!!!

WOW, I'm surprised Poundstone placed so low on the frame carry. Siders impressed me with the axel. Derek is not too far behind right now and there are several events tomorrow that Derek is good at (ie. stones)

Who is Misha? I don't recall ever hearing of him before. Also, I am surprised by the spread between 1st and 2nd, 5 pts is a pretty large gap. However, I think if anyone can break that gap and take the win...it would be Derek

Can't wait to hear the final results. I have events tomorrow for myself, seeing these guys lift the weights they do just helps to show me how much farther I have to go. I remind myself that it doesn't matter where you are now, it only matters how you finish.

How is the stone load competition set up? Is it to see who can load the 529lb(not sure of exact weight) stone for the most # of reps? Do we know what the total points and placings are up until now with Derek coming in 2nd on the yoke?

robert da strongman
03-07-2009, 04:38 PM
you pick the stone you can lift and put it over the bar
i think its only one rep.

It was a great show. I was with dave on the elevator. He is not sure what he did to his bicep. He's gona ice it. He might tape it up for the last event sine he does the db with his right arm. He still needs his left arm to help with the clean.

The bus picks us up at 7 so the db is probly around 8.

Ps. Derek and I met arnold and got a pic with him!!!

Just got a text from Derek.
Said he WILL win the DB event BUT, there needs to be 2 people between him and Misha to take 1st overall!!

This will be CLOSE!! IN the axle (a similar event), Misha got 7 and DP got 6. Very exciting stuff!

robert da strongman
03-07-2009, 05:06 PM
yeah this is freaking close.

misha is a great presser.

gonna be watching tonight...but i will have to sit thru mens bb'ing...haha

There is a huge difference between an axel press and a DB press. Derek clearly has trained specifically for the DB event, but if Misha has not (and has not trained in the high rep range), then there could be the advantage that Derek desperatly needs right now.
