View Full Version : What should I prioritize in the off-season?

Background:

I am 51 years old (turn 52 in July). My height is 5'9". I've competed in 2 NPC shows (July, 2008 and July, 2009), both in the Grand Masters (50+) class.

My weight in these photos is about 166 pounds. They were taken 4 weeks out from my next contest (March 27, 2010).

What I am looking for:

I'll take all the advice you care to give, of course, but my main question is: Which body parts do I most need to prioritize in my coming off-season? After March 27, I won't be competing again until 2013, so I have a good long time to add some mass.

Back width and thickness, then chest and then legs. Arms and shoulders look good.

Thanks, man.

great meeting you this weekend! i would agree...^

Fabulous meeting you, too, Tammy!

I definitely agree with Jude2 on back thickness. I almost disappear in the side relaxed pose.

I want to thank all the judges who participate in this Forum -- it is much appreciated!

These pics will probably yield the same prescription as above, but I thought I'd post them anyhow, since they are more recent (tonight - 2 weeks out from my contest).

Hey man! Sorry I missed you at the Arnold. I agree with above. ROW, ROW, ROW! Back thickness and upper chest too more so than chest in general. Traps need to come up as well. Condition is spot on!

Jeff

Thanks, Jeff!

Just for completeness, here is what I ended up looking like 1 day out from the contest (this morning).
