Mixed Pairs should be re-instituted, at least by an Invitation Competition or via sponsored exhibition.

I would love to see Mixed Pairs come back. It was true artistry, and used to be one of my favorite aspects of the sport.

I have never personally witnessed it, but I do think bringing it back would make things just a little more interesting.

The last time I saw mixed pairs was at my first show in Tampa, 2000.

If you google "NPC bodybuilding mixed pairs" - there are a number of shows in Oregon & Washington State that look like they still do it.

It definitly would make for some more entertainment at the show if the "pair" had some personality. At the same time we'd be subject to more boring posing routines, except now two people would be causing the agony....the classic mixed pair pose: guy hits a front double bi as girl does a lunging pose in front.

Excellent point Dros. That's why I'd prefer some sort of invitation comp. With some of our better posers. Kai, Bleck, etc. I totally get the boring mixed pair posing routine. That would be unbearable.

Guess I stand alone when I say....let mixed pairs stay where it is......IN THE PAST.........

Guess I stand alone when I say....let mixed pairs stay where it is......IN THE PAST.........Back in the 80's and 90's mixed pairs was very entertaining, especially when some of the personalities involved 'let it fly'. Diana Dennis and Kevin Lawrence were magic in their interpretations of muscular display. Mixed pairs offered an immediate visual of the differences in the male and female physiques in the highest levels of condition, i.e., a thing of beauty working in tandem. Tony Pearson made a career of winning Mixed Pairs contests like the IFBB Pro Worlds with a different female bodybuilder every year. Even Bob Cicherillo competed in mixed pairs.

In discussions I had with various judges and promoters about mixed pairs and the declining numbers of competitors entering that event as the years progressed, it wasn't a matter of them not liking what mixed pairs represented, it was a growing concern with the possibility of injuries due to the competitors creating more and more difficult routines.....and, combined with a bit of body oil, the potential recipe for serious injury became a matter of 'not if, but when'.

Based on the current state of flux taking place in both men's and women's divisions, mixed pairs has to be the furthest thing in anyone's mind right now.
