I just recently started training in the mornings and for the first time in my life, I am crashing really hard after exercise. I'm at work now and can barely keep my eyes open. I had a bowl of pasta last night before bed, and about 30 mins before working out I had 40g wms and 60g whey protein. After my workout, I had a 60g protein shake. Any ideas on what it could be? Hormonal maybe? I'm never tired after an afternoon/evening workout and this right now is awful, just had a cup of coffee to no avail.

I had a similar problem a few years ago when I was stuck on a 6 day work week, I wasn't watching my vitamin/mineral intake and was just not eating enough, period! I had such a tough time even GETTING to the gym after work it was nuts, yawning, etc... I revamped my nutritional schedule, eating more calories, taking more protein shakes w/creatine, take an Animal Pak so all my vitamin/mineral bases were covered. Instead of 2 eggs for breakfast I forced myself to take 5 or 6, and BOOM after 1 week my energy was really coming back... after 2 weeks FULLY back. So I hope this helps, dude- I've been there!

Try throwing in some more carbs after your workout. I hate training in the morning, but I did it for about 5 months for one of my contest preps (including a 30 min drive to the gym) and usually I was ready for a nap by 10 am.

Basically w/ your current meal schedule, you're supplying lots of carbs to go into the gym w/. but nothing to pick up after you get out when you're depleted - but now you have to get your day going, and you've burned up all your quick energy sources. You might even consider sipping a protein / fast carb drink (e.g. throw some protein mix in some Gatorade) during your work out and see if that helps.

Also I recently heard results from some study that talked about "when is the best time to train" and it was noted that people felt they trained better in the late afternoon than morning. The differentiating factor they called out was that your body temp is up a little more after you've been up & active for several hours. So if you want to have that same scenario for an early morning workout, spend more time warming up to get your body temp up when you start.

Could be Adrenal Fatigue, How does salt taste you? do you crave carbs often?
