Do you ladies have any preferences when choosing one of the above? Why?

Im not a lady but if you may have slight or even moderate depression SAM-E has proven to be very effective.

Also check P-Seven:

SAM-e is damn expensive. I've also loaded Inositol and had ok results. I find "mood" is usually related to something I'm going thru and if I just focus on hitting the gym, getting good sleep and not worrying about things, it passes. Sometimes its a phase I just have to deal with, but overall, by the time I try any of the above and give it time to work, whatever is bothering me is past and I don't need them anymore anyway.

Unfortunately sometimes my mood can to me to the point where sleep and focus are interrupted. The anxiety and stress is something that I don’t handle well. I give an outward appearance of being ok….but I can really mentally exhaust myself sometimes.

Now with contest prep I feel I just need something to help with a balance.

I'll look into that P-7...interesting as a Topical Cream!

IMO, a good nights sleep can work wonders on your mood. If your sleep is interrupted, you could try something to help knock you out. Both ALRI and Species have good sleep aids. When all else fails, benedryl works. lol

Also, you may want to look into cognitive behavioral therapy to help re-wire faulty thought processes that fuel depressive or anxious thoughts.

I also recommend pharmaceutical grade fish oils for mood improvement. Forget the drug store junk.

What I've found when its mostly that I have a million things on my mind and I can't fall asleep, 1 aspirin works to just settle down my brain, and then I can fall asleep.

Do not use St. John's wort if you are on BC......It's written in the fine print on one of the herbs that can disrupt it's effect.......
If you are not on BC, St. John's Wort works great!!!!! I used to take it in my early 20s to calm my hyped ass down....lol.....it really works.....if you are tense or hyper, that stuff is amazing....

second post and it was the advice i was going to give. give the med a couple weeks for it to really kick in, though; its not an overnight fix.

Thanks for all the replies. I saw some SAM-E at Trader Joe's I'll probally pick up a bottle.

Sex would be great for everytime I'm feeling down or in a bad mood...but when it happens at 2pm on a Wed while I'm at work....well...maybe I can keep my husband tied up in my car all day for emergencies!

Tho ALR doesn't recommend it, sometimes I'll stack ONE comatose with a benedryl and mannnnnnn I get some really great deep sleep!!! I only do that once in a while when I really need to get some sick deep sleep.

LOL........

SIDE NOTE: I get SUPER bouts of anxiety...bad... and I was on Lexapro/Zoloft (10mg/day/minimum dose) for the past 6 years but recently had to come off it due to a change in jobs/gap in insurance coverage (sucks coming off anti-depressants btw, terrible with drawls).....and once I had gotten through all the withdrawals I started up St. Johns Wart. Its not as 'complete' as the Lexapro is, but I definitely notice a difference with my mood and being less anxious. But now thanks to the news that SJW might affect BC.........argh.......LOL. . . I'll look into the SAM-E too....

I have an anxiety disorder and often get upset and stressed out when I can't focus at work because my mind is racing!!! I have taken Lucidrol made by Advanced Muscle Science and find this to really help my focus, which in turn helps my anxiety and heightens my mood.
I know this isn't a mood enhancer but it definitely helps lower my stress, is also a natural product so you don't have side effects when you "come off" of it.

From personal exprience, if you are an anxiety prone individual then the following will help alleviate discomfort.

TO DO LIST

Supplement with 10mg melatonin b4 bed
Try Gaba, it seems to help in relaxation.
don't cut out carbs, carbs help keep cortisol levels down, in addition to raising serotonin levels
i've never tried 5-HTP or st.john's wort, but it's worth a try.
you want to raise dopamine as appose to serotonin, both are great but dopamine give you a euphoric feeling while still allowing you to concentrate. A common method to do this is Tobacco smoke, but due to it's obvious health detriments, you may want to talk to your doctor about dopamine specific antidepressants.
Do not over consume stimulants, and if you can, completely cut them out.
Have a support system, preferably a loving/caring partner who you can seek comfort in. Don't underestimate things such as cuddling, or a gentle nurturing touch. lol.........may sound funny, but it's true.

That's all i can think of for now...........Hope this helps

I know 5 HTP as a sleeping aid but not a mood supplement. Better to try omega 3. Like what i told a few days ago in one thread. I'm taking 3 supplement today. And one of them is MX Omega 3 Fish Oil. Truly it's promotes to comforts joints, lifts moods and nourishes brain. I think this is much better as you will acquire other great health benefits aside with having a better mood.
