I know it is not really a chemical, but since there is no supplement section I decided to post it here. I am wondering how many of you use glycerol to help with hydration or pumps in the gym? It allows for extreme amounts of water and nutrient dense blood to be held in the muscle for increased pumps/vascularity... possibly for the gym and or photo shoots. I wish I had known more about this when I competed in my 3 shows a few months ago and did some photoshoots.

how do u use it?

Put it in some liquid and drink it.

Used this stuff on and off for a few years, it certainly makes me more vascular and helps give some good pumps.

You can get it at Walmart for a few bucks.

How much are you supposed to use?

10-20ml mixed in a littre of water/crytal light.

I usually go with a squirt of it with some sea salt, bcaa's and some creatine all mixed up and start drinking on my way to the gym and refill (i drink about half) when I get to the gym.

You can throw in some waxy or whatever too if you are into it.

I'll put Glycerol and sea salt up against any NO2 products as far as "pumps" go.

why sea salt?

Adds to the pump through hydration, aslo helps with mineral depletion when you're sweating at the gym.

I learned about it all from Massive G. He's been around the boards for a long time (not this one or MD) and he's got some gems.

If it helps pull nutrients into the muscle then it might be helping nutrient partitioning. Wonder if it might help to keep lean. It probably should if it does not equally dive nutrients into fat tissues as well.

Interesting, from what i have heard it creates an insulin like effect without insulin. Kind of like a GDA.
Glycerin being part of a fatty acid would be considered a fat calorie would it not?

I've used quite a bit of Glycerol MonoStearate. Great pumps and the stuff is cheap, cheap, cheap.

Yes, the standard 9 calories per gram. Glycerol MonoStearate is one of the few saturated fatty acids that do not raise serum cholesterol levels.

sugar alcohol im pretty sure its 4 calories per gram part of a fatty chain glycerol is the backbone to triglycerides so it has part of the same chain but its a sugar alcohol

What was the purpose of running it with DNP? I'm currently running DNP and was curious about the benefits Glycerol while on it. Thanks.

Keeping the muscles hydrated - DNP dehydrates the muscles - a dehydrated muscle can turn catabolic and atrophy. Glycerol really counteracts this very well.

go to a local pharmacy, it WILL be there. Try and support smaller ma and pa stores, much better than feeding into the machine that kills those businesses. The future will thank you.

So, you couldn't find it?

I usually get it at Walmart, but the other day I found some at Right Aid.

Keep looking, you'll find it. It's a small little bottle. Sometimes it's tough to find right off the bat. One time I must have walked by it half a dozen times.

It can be hard to get down in water. It sorta feels like jello that just won't break down. I've used it before long distance bike rides so I wouldn't dehydrate. It tends to sit in your stomach and make you feel bloated so you want to spread doses out.
