I lost my intial 70 pounds just counting calories on a 40/40/20 plan, keeping my calories between 900-1300.

I'm a huge advocate of the good old school carb cycle pre contest diet. I used itboth at north americans and for the arnold amateur.....and I will more then likley continue to use it. I tweak my days as needed in response to how my physique looks but I begin my diet with low carb days (2), moderate carb days (2), another 2 low carb days, another 2 moderate carb days, then one high carb day. By high carb I do not mean cheat. I am IRON CLAD in my diet. 9 weeks of NO cheats..... bu I eat carbs at EVERY meal....

Then about 4 weeks out from my show I stop the high carb day. My low carb days are virtually NO carb days and my moderate carb days usually involve carbs in my first two meals and some veggies later in the day.

I don't eat nuts or much fat on my diet, however I do eat salmon and buffalo 1-2 times a week the first 5 weeks of my diet and those meat sources have higher amounts of fat then say tilapia or chicken.

High protein, moderate fat, low carb. I don't even think of it as a diet, its just my lifestyle now. I have never felt so healthy in my life!

High protein is a must, and moderate to low carb intake for amateur bodybuilders is pretty standard. Fat is essential as well, particularly if you choose to utilize a ketogenic diet.

Off season it's low carb (under 100 grams per day), and precontest it's very low carb (under 30 grams per day, post workout). No matter what though I have a cheat day once per week.

Carb rotation has been the tried & true. I find out tomorrow what will be this year's approach.

I did Keto for 1 month, then followed up with Carb cycling for 2 months. Got my leanest ever doing that which is weird because It seems backwards on paper.

1. Slight change of my macros (something like 55%prot/30carbs/15fats).
2. Decrease of about 500 cals + adding cardio as much as i need.

Counting cals is sooooo hard! I use so many spices and extra ingredients when I cook because I love flavor. I am going to start my low carb diet next week and see how that goes. I have never done well with diets, but then again I wasn't as serious with them as I will be now.

High protein, moderate fat (high in EFA's), timed carbs.

I cycle carbs using higher carbs on training days than I do on non training days.
