i only competed once this year. took 3rd in lakeland, did not qualify. even if i did my work schedule won't allow me to get those days off...would need 4 just to make weigh ins, compete and get home. plus money is tight and could not afford the trip...damn i need a sponsor.

come on out to FL on october 30th

I decided not to do Nationals. Don't like the events for myself and got some weaknesses I just feel the only way to improve them is to take some time away from strongman training. My training partner Jarrod beekley decided to do Nationals at the last minute so luckily there is a contest here in boise tomorrow that he is going to do and qualify for nationals and he is healthy so I look for him to make a good run at it. He still got a sour taste in his mouth from getting 2nd to Dawson by half point a year ago in San Diego and losing that pro card. But has had to deal with a torn bicep that is finally good to go. I have to give him shit because he tore his shoelace on his olympic shoes and was to lazy to replace the shoelace in the hotel room the night before the contest so he did the axel press in his cross trainers which he wasn't used to that cost him a few reps and would have given him an extra point if he knocked out another rep -- so he's hungry.

I do like the 2 day format that has been going on now for a little while. Makes it so you have to be consistent and just can't have the one best day of your life and expect to win. The person who comes on top will have to be in shape - lots of conditioning involved at this contest.

yes a 2 day comp requires great recovery and some serious strength

Rob its a shame that my foot is screwed up I was hoping to be able to compete in Nats for the experience. I was able to squat heavy yesterday but am paying for it greatly today. I'm gonna push myself this week to train and plan to hit some implements this Sunday. If things go well don't count me out yet for Nats.

My predictions for the HW classes in no particular order.....dont know enough about LW's to make prediction.

265 top 3
Brandon Campbell 265 AZ
Pat Wilson 265 FL
Dave Mihalov 265 CT

300 top 3
Tomas Rodriquez 300 OH
Rob Lewis 300 CO
Brad Ardrey 300 OH

SHW top 3
Dave Bourgeous SHW MA
Erik Peterson shw CA
Alan Colley SHW FL
Jarrod Beekley shw ID
**I left 4 here because Beekley is really good, but not sure how he is doing since being hurt.

And my overall HW top 3.....this will be the year the SHW dominate.
Erik Peterson
Dave Bourgeous
Alan Colley
- beekley could be a top 3 but without knowing his recent status I can't put him that high. I've seen all 3 that I listed compete atleast once this year and all of them have gotten better and better over past 2 years. I'm biased toward Colley, but if he can hit the numbers I've seen in practice then he should win because he brought up alot of his weaknesses

gotta go with Pat in the 265..saw him last week at my comp. he was looking huge

Ryan Bracewell
11-05-2010, 11:26 PM
ya, pats looking huge. He has a chance to win it all, but the 265's usually dont fair well in the HW overall.

EDIT: did a little research and at that past 3 Nationals only two 265er's have cracked the top 5 in the HW Overall. Foster Parnell in 2007 and yours truly in 2008 ;) . If Pat can come in at 265 and smash all the big boys I will give him all kinds of props.

have to go with Allan in the overall though. he can truck with the yoke.
