Help: What's the best way to tenderize a steak?

I usually cook my steaks on a George Forman grill, but lately, they've been coming out a bit tough.

What suggestions do you have for tenderizing meat and steaks?

Marinade the steak

Thick coating of kosher salt rubbed all over it, then leave in fridge over night. Rinse off b4 cooking.
