Odd situation but im sure people have had or seen this issue.
When i'm working out some of the guys i work out with have noticed, (we critique each other all the time) that my first rep on heavy weights always is exceptionally hard ie looks like im not gonna manage to get it, then once its up and teh first rep has been done i can knock out 10-12 reps easy, its always the first one i have to get by.

any suggestions?

You mind is very powerful so alway believe you can do the weight, no matter what. Visualize the set before you start. Don't let a negative thought come into your head.

Clearly don't lift way above your capabilities AND make sure your form is perfect!
