550 squat at 198 raw. People say it looked high. My 1st set with it was high for sure. Did it again. However, 3 of the people lifting with me tonight are judges and they all said it was good. What are your thoughts? It's kinda hard to see due to safety bars being in the way.

Cool. THanks for the input. Yeah I think I've got 560 in me for sure. I've got 2 more heavy weeks before I taper off for my meet in April.

It looked like a really good lift. 550 is impressive. I would get 405 if im really lucky. Squats has never been one of my stronger movements.

No doubt in my mind it was legal. My question to you is, 'when are you going to 600?'

Well right now I think 550 is gonna be my opener in April. I think by then I should be good for 560-570 as a 3rd attempt. I'd love to hit 600 by Oct when I compete in the AAU World Championships. Who knows though I'm way ahead of schedule according to my program and I don't wanna peak too early.

Good squat it will pass almost anywhere. Some feds are tougher than others.
My suggestion to you would be open about 475 or a weight you will have no problem taking beyond parallel. Second attempt around 525 and third around 560-575.
If you open too heavy and miss on depth you can not lower the weight. Use every attempt as a confidence booster.

Right. Back in Oct I opened with 518 with no problems whatsoever. 2nd attempt was 534. I buried 551 on my 3rd attempt and never came back up. I've always been told to open with a weight that you can rep. I'm competing in the AAU in April and that's the only org that I've competed in and I'm pretty aware of what they want. Now that I think about it 550 may be a little bit heavy for an opener. I'll see how training goes and adjust from there.
